Choose direct import or an HTML file
| Method | Use it when | What it can transfer |
|---|---|---|
| Firefox’s browser import wizard | Firefox lists Chrome or Edge as a source | Choose bookmarks and, depending on the source browser, other available data such as browsing history, saved passwords or logins, form data, and Chrome extensions. Mozilla’s Chrome instructions and Edge instructions describe the wizard. |
| HTML-file transfer | The source browser is not listed in Firefox | Bookmarks exported from the source as an HTML file. Mozilla’s general import guide documents this fallback. |
Import bookmarks directly from Chrome or Edge
The same Firefox wizard works for both browsers. Edge calls its saved links Favorites; Firefox calls them Bookmarks.

- In Firefox, open Settings and select General.
- Under Import browser data, select Import Data.
- Choose Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, then select the browser profile you want to use.
- Select Bookmarks. If the wizard shows additional data categories, use the plus control to choose what else to transfer.
- Click Import, then Done.
You can also start in the Bookmarks Library: choose Bookmarks → Manage bookmarks → Import and Backup → Import Data from Another Browser. If the menu bar is enabled, Mozilla documents another route: press Alt to show it, then choose File → Import from Another Browser. Interface labels may differ by Firefox version, operating system, or language; Mozilla’s current import guide provides the general path.
Find imported bookmarks in Firefox
Chrome bookmarks
Chrome bookmarks may appear in Firefox’s Bookmarks Toolbar. If you do not see them, first check the Bookmarks menu and whether the toolbar is hidden. To show it, open More Tools → Customize Toolbar, then choose Bookmarks Toolbar from the Toolbars dropdown. With the menu bar enabled, use View → Toolbars → Bookmarks Toolbar. Mozilla covers the toolbar setting in its Chrome import instructions.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Bookmarks import is separate from password import
The wizard may offer several categories of browser data, but selecting bookmarks does not require moving passwords. Mozilla documents that automatic Chrome password import is unavailable on Windows and Linux and provides a separate CSV route for passwords. That limitation concerns passwords, not bookmarks; Chrome bookmarks remain available through the import workflow. Password-import instructions are version-sensitive, so consult Mozilla’s Chrome guide or general guide for current details.
