A custom JSX runtime for Discord bots would sit between TypeScript or JavaScript source and the Discord library: JSX describes a tree-like structure, while the library and Discord API handle platform-specific messages and interactions. The available post listing confirms the title and a September 29, 2026 publication date, but its content could not be verified, so the author’s API, implementation, tests, and results are unknown.
What a JSX runtime would do in a Discord bot
JSX is syntax for expressing nested, tree-like structures in code. In a Discord bot project, a custom runtime could provide a way to write some output in JSX and translate it into values used by the bot’s library. That is the architectural role suggested by the title—not a verified description of this particular project.

JSX does not connect a bot to Discord by itself. The bot still needs to use Discord’s API, directly or through a library, to receive events or interactions and send responses. The runtime’s usefulness would depend on what it translates JSX into and whether that fits the project’s needs.

Discord documents two ways to handle bot activity: a persistent Gateway WebSocket for real-time events, and an HTTP interactions endpoint for slash commands and UI components without a persistent connection. A bot can use either approach or both, depending on its use case. Discord’s bot documentation describes these as platform connection choices; neither is a feature supplied by JSX.

Discord’s setup overview describes creating an application in the Developer Portal, adding a bot user, inviting it with an OAuth2 URL using the bot scope and needed permissions, then connecting through the Gateway, HTTP API, or both. Discord notes that most developers use a community-maintained library rather than calling the API directly. Read Discord’s setup overview.
What the title does—and does not—establish
The matching Reddit search result was dated September 29, 2026, but the post itself could not be opened. That verifies a title signal, not the implementation. The evidence available does not establish:
- Which JSX elements or Discord payloads the runtime supports.
- Whether it uses TypeScript’s classic or automatic JSX transform, or what compiler settings it requires.
- Whether it works with discord.js, another library, or direct API calls.
- Whether it supports interactive updates, state, or rerendering.
- What tests, compatibility limits, performance results, or user feedback the author reported.
Those details require the original post or a linked repository. Without them, code examples or claims about what the author built would be speculation.

How to assess a JSX option for your own bot
Search results surfaced two adjacent projects, but their package pages were not available for full verification. Treat their descriptions as leads, not as current compatibility advice.
Rank #3
| Project | What surfaced | What remains unverified |
|---|---|---|
@nexcord/tsx |
An npm search snippet described a JSX runtime for discord.js using TypeScript’s classic JSX transform and a custom pragma; it also mentioned @nexcord/core and a recent discord.js 14 release. |
Current README, release, compatibility range, maintenance, and exact setup; the package page was unavailable. |
discord-jsx-renderer |
An npm search snippet described a custom React renderer for discord.js with React-style state, context, and effects. | Current implementation, compatibility, maintenance, and feature details; the npm page returned access denied. |
Before choosing either project—or building your own—check these practical questions in its current documentation and source:
- Syntax or reconciliation: Do you only want JSX as a concise way to construct output, or do you need React-style lifecycle and state management?
- Output model: Does the tool create a Discord message or component payload, or manage an interactive rendering over time?
- Setup: Which runtime and TypeScript or JSX compiler configuration does it require?
- Compatibility: Does it support your chosen discord.js and Discord component versions?
- Project health: Are maintenance activity, type definitions, examples, and documentation adequate for your use?
- State needs: Will the bot actually need stateful rerendering, or is constructing a response when an interaction arrives enough?
Check version and runtime requirements before installing
The discord.js documentation route reviewed identifies version 14.27.0 and lists Node.js 24.17.0 or newer for that documentation route. These details can change, and they do not establish compatibility with the unknown runtime in the title. Confirm the current discord.js release, Node.js requirement, and the JSX package’s supported version range before configuring a project. Consult the discord.js 14.27.0 documentation.
