HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate vs Shredders: Which PC Snowboarding Game Is Better?

For a PC game you can play today, choose Shredders. HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate is still listed as “Coming soon,” so its handling, performance and final multiplayer experience cannot yet be judged from a public release. It is the more intriguing option if you specifically want colorful arcade racing, score attacks, four-player split-screen and a large announced roster of riders and boards.

The useful comparison is therefore practical rather than a final quality ranking: Shredders is the available mountain-riding game, while HYPERyuki is an announced arcade snowboarder worth wishlisting if its feature list matches what you want.

At a glance: the decision in one table

Question HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate Shredders
Can you play it on PC now? No. Steam lists it as “Coming soon”; no firm launch date is established. Yes. Its Steam release was reported as March 16, 2022.
Primary design Stylized arcade snowboarding built around speed, tricks, races, challenges and scores. Mountain-centered riding with parks, rails, kickers, buttering, story missions and online co-op.
World structure Announced settings inspired by Tokyo, Hokkaido, Canada and Mexico, plus endless exploration. An explorable mountain with connected riding areas and activities.
Local multiplayer Four-player split-screen is advertised. Local split-screen support is not established in the available information.
Online multiplayer Full online multiplayer is advertised. Online co-op is advertised.
Character and board count 11 riders and 47 boards, according to the current Steam listing. Comparable counts are not stated.
Controller support Full controller support; the listing recommends a controller. Not established here.
Review certainty There are no user reviews on Steam, so there is no release consensus. It is an existing, playable product rather than an unreleased promise.

Availability is the biggest difference

HYPERyuki is not playable yet

The Steam page currently labels HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate “Coming soon.” You can wishlist it and inspect the announced feature set, but you cannot treat those features as tested functionality until a public build ships. No confirmed launch date is available, and Steam currently shows no user-review consensus.

That status matters more than any advertised trick system when deciding what to buy or install. Frame rates, input response, online stability, loading times, accessibility options and whether every announced mode arrives at launch are still unknown. A comparison that awards HYPERyuki a definitive victory would be speculation.

Shredders is the immediately usable choice

Shredders is the established alternative. Its PC release date was reported as March 16, 2022, and the game is presented as playable now. If your goal is to ride a mountain this weekend, complete missions or play online with friends, it is the only option in this comparison that does not require waiting for release.

How HYPERyuki is designed

An arcade-first brief

The official Steam description positions HYPERyuki as “the modern SSX, arcade snowboarding experience fans have been waiting for.” The publisher describes it as an arcade-style game inspired by SSX and Jet Grind Radio. Those references communicate intent rather than a measured handling comparison: the announced focus is speed, style, racing, trick mastery and score chasing rather than a simulation claim.

Its planned package combines several ways to play:

  • Solo riding.
  • Challenge modes built around performance and scores.
  • Racing and trick-focused play.
  • Endless exploration.
  • Four-player local split-screen.
  • Full online multiplayer.

The setting list is similarly stylized. The Steam copy cites Tokyo, Hokkaido, Canada and Mexico as inspirations for different mountain environments. That suggests visual and thematic variety, but it does not establish the final number of courses, their size, or how freely they connect.

11 riders and 47 boards

HYPERyuki advertises 11 riders and 47 boards. Those numbers are useful for understanding the planned customization scale, but they do not by themselves prove that every rider has distinct statistics, abilities or animation sets. The listing does not establish whether boards are unlocked through progression, selected cosmetically, or tuned for different handling characteristics.

Multiplayer is a central promise

The Steam listing says the game is “built for solo play, 4-player split-screen chaos, and full online multiplayer.” Four people sharing one PC is a meaningful differentiator for players who want couch competition. Online support broadens that audience, but matchmaking, private-lobby rules, cross-play, progression sharing and connection requirements are not established. Do not assume those details until the developer documents them.

How Shredders is positioned

An explorable mountain rather than an unreleased feature set

Shredders is described around an explorable mountain containing parks, rails and kickers. Riding is accompanied by buttering, story missions and online co-op. The structure gives you reasons to move through a mountain environment instead of treating every run as a standalone score-attack screen.

That description does not justify calling it a simulation, nor does it prove that its physics will match your preferred snowboarding style. It does establish a different emphasis from HYPERyuki: Shredders foregrounds a connected mountain and mission-based riding, while HYPERyuki foregrounds arcade challenges, races, scores and local multiplayer.

Online co-op, with local support unconfirmed

Online co-op is part of Shredders‘ documented feature set. The available information does not establish four-player split-screen or any other local-couch mode, so do not buy it expecting the same shared-screen experience advertised for HYPERyuki.

Gameplay comparison by the question you actually have

Do you want instant access or a future purchase?

Choose Shredders if “better” means available, installable and playable now. Choose HYPERyuki only as a wishlist or watch-list decision until its release status changes. Waiting may make sense if local multiplayer and arcade scoring are more important to you than having a game immediately, but there is no launch date to plan around.

Do you prefer score chasing or mountain exploration?

HYPERyuki is the better fit on paper for players who want repeatable races, trick mastery, challenge targets and score optimization. Its endless-exploration promise may also appeal to players who want to roam between attempts.

Shredders is the clearer fit for players who want to explore a mountain, find parks and features, work through story missions and ride cooperatively. The distinction is about activity design, not a proven difference in control quality.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is local multiplayer essential?

If one PC and one screen must support a group, HYPERyuki is the only game here with an explicit promise: four-player split-screen. Shredders‘ local multiplayer support is not established by the available material. Verify the final HYPERyuki implementation before purchase, because its current status is still “Coming soon.”

Is online play the priority?

Both games advertise online multiplayer in some form. HYPERyuki says “full online multiplayer,” while Shredders specifically advertises online co-op. Those labels imply different emphases, but neither description supplies the details needed to compare player counts, competitive modes, dedicated servers, voice chat, cross-platform play or matchmaking.

Do you need a controller?

HYPERyuki lists full controller support and recommends playing with a controller. That is the clearest input guidance in this comparison. The supplied Shredders information does not state its controller support, so check its current PC listing or in-game documentation if gamepad play is a requirement.

What cannot be judged yet

A fair comparison separates announced scope from demonstrated quality. Until HYPERyuki has a public release, the following questions remain open:

  • How responsive its turns, jumps, landings and trick inputs feel.
  • Whether the 11 riders and 47 boards have meaningful gameplay differences.
  • How many mountains, races and challenge variations ship at launch.
  • Whether four-player split-screen maintains stable performance.
  • How online multiplayer handles matchmaking, latency and private sessions.
  • Whether the final PC build meets the listed requirements efficiently.
  • How progression, unlocks and replay incentives are structured.

There is also no independent review score or Steam user-review consensus to use as a quality signal. Treat trailers, store copy and feature counts as a description of intent, not proof that the finished game will outperform an existing product.

Which game should each type of PC player choose?

Choose Shredders if you want to play now

  • You need a released PC snowboarding game immediately.
  • You want an explorable mountain with parks, rails and kickers.
  • You prefer story missions and online co-op as the main structure.
  • You would rather evaluate a playable product than wait on an announced one.

Wishlist HYPERyuki if these features matter most

  • You specifically want arcade-style races, tricks and score chasing.
  • You need four-player local split-screen on one PC.
  • You like the prospect of several themed settings inspired by Tokyo, Hokkaido, Canada and Mexico.
  • You value a stated roster of 11 riders and 47 boards.
  • You are comfortable waiting without a confirmed release date.

Consider both if you have different multiplayer groups

The games could serve different occasions rather than compete for exactly the same session. Shredders offers an available mountain and online co-op; HYPERyuki promises a more explicitly arcade-oriented structure and local split-screen. There is no evidence yet that one will replace the other for every type of player.

Practical buying and waiting checklist

  1. Decide whether “now” is non-negotiable. If yes, start with Shredders; HYPERyuki is not released.
  2. Match the session type. Select Shredders for mountain exploration, missions and online co-op; keep HYPERyuki on your list for arcade challenges and four-player couch play.
  3. Check your hardware against the published target. For HYPERyuki, compare your PC with the Windows 10, 8 GB RAM and processor/GPU requirements above. Do not infer Shredders requirements from this table.
  4. Use a controller for HYPERyuki. Its listing documents full controller support and recommends one. Confirm the final input options for either game before purchasing specialist hardware.
  5. Recheck the Steam listing before release. Availability, requirements, mode descriptions and feature details can change while HYPERyuki remains in development.

Bottom line

Shredders is the better PC snowboarding choice today because it is available and gives you an explorable mountain, riding features, missions and online co-op. HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate is the more compelling upcoming option for players drawn to arcade racing, score challenges, 11 riders, 47 boards and four-player split-screen, but it cannot receive a fair final quality verdict until it launches.
