Construction varies by model, and a two-year limited warranty for most headsets is coverage—not a promised service life. HyperX’s published specifications can help you assess likely wear points, but no independent long-term failure rates or comparative durability tests were found.
What the available evidence can—and cannot—tell you
HyperX publishes model specifications and warranty terms, which provide useful clues about materials, detachable parts and coverage. They do not show how often a model fails or how many years it will last under a particular person’s use. No independent longevity study, quantified failure rate or standardized head-to-head durability test was found for the models discussed here.

That distinction matters: a metal frame may be a reassuring design choice, but it does not establish that hinges, wiring, cushions or electronics will outlast those of another headset. Likewise, a warranty describes what may be covered under stated conditions, not expected product life.

What the Cloud III’s construction says
Frame descriptions are manufacturer specifications
HyperX’s Cloud III announcement specifies a steel and aluminum frame. Its UK product listing describes the frame as aluminum and markets the headset as having a “full metal frame,” saying it is designed to withstand travel and mishaps. These are HyperX’s descriptions, not independently verified durability findings; they do not establish that every component is metal. HyperX Cloud III announcement · HyperX UK Cloud III product page

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Cushions and connections are separate wear considerations
The announcement lists memory foam and leatherette ear cushions. Cushions are contact surfaces that can wear with use, but the cited material does not verify compatible replacement cushions or their availability. The Cloud III announcement also lists a detachable microphone and wired 3.5 mm, USB-C and USB-A connections. Detachable parts can be disconnected when transporting or storing a headset; the specifications alone do not prove that replacement parts are available or that a connection is immune to wear. What the Cloud Alpha’s detachable cable means
HyperX’s support specification lists a detachable 1.3 m headset cable and a 2 m PC extension cable for the Cloud Alpha. It lists the headset at 298 g, or 336 g with the microphone. The detachable cable may make cable replacement practical if a compatible replacement is available, but the specification does not confirm replacement-part availability. These dimensions and weights describe the design; they are not evidence that the Cloud Alpha lasts longer than another model. HyperX Cloud Alpha specifications

How long do HyperX headphones last?
The published information here does not establish an expected lifespan for HyperX headphones. A warranty term cannot answer how long a headset will last outside the warranty period, and no measured service-life figure or model-specific failure rate is given in these sources.
