How is a Smart Monitor different from a regular monitor?
A conventional monitor displays video from a connected computer or other device. A Samsung Smart Monitor can also access supported streaming apps directly, so you can watch content without connecting a PC. Samsung also describes features such as Microsoft 365 access, Multi View, Multi Control, and SmartThings integration on its newer lineup; these are specific functions, not a promise that the display can replace every computer workflow. Samsung’s US product page presents the standalone smart-app experience, while its June 25, 2025 lineup announcement describes productivity and integration features.

What Smart Monitor models are available?
Samsung’s June 2025 global announcement names the M9 (M90SF), M8 (M80F), and M7 (M70F). Samsung’s UK lineup page also lists the M5 (M50F), illustrating why availability and specifications should be checked for the country where you plan to buy. Samsung says model availability can vary by market.

What can you do with the built-in smart features?
Stream without a connected computer
Samsung says supported streaming apps can run directly on the monitor, and identifies Samsung TV Plus as a live TV and on-demand option. Internet access is required. App availability, subscriptions, and other service terms depend on region and provider; Samsung also says a Samsung Account is required for the full range of smart features. Check the app and account requirements for your country and model on Samsung’s product page and the relevant regional listing.
Use selected work and device-integration tools
Samsung describes Microsoft 365 access, Multi View, Multi Control, and SmartThings integration for newer Smart Monitors. Which functions work depends on the model, region, account, connected devices, and service terms. Treat these as additions for particular tasks rather than as a guarantee that the monitor can run all desktop software or replace a computer.

Play through Gaming Hub on the M9
Samsung says the M9 includes Gaming Hub for cloud-based gaming without a connected console or PC. That does not mean every game or service is supported in every country, or that subscriptions and peripherals are included; check local service requirements before relying on it. Samsung’s M9 announcement describes the feature.
Understand the model-specific AI and display claims
Samsung’s 2025 announcement describes AI-powered discovery on the M8 and M7, with feature availability restricted by model and region. It lists the M9 with QD-OLED, AI Picture Optimizer, 4K AI Upscaling Pro, AVA Pro, and a built-in smart entertainment hub. These are not lineup-wide features. Samsung also says the M9’s Pantone Validated certification covers more than 2,100 colors and over 110 SkinTone shades; that is the manufacturer’s stated certification coverage, not an independent measurement reported here.

Check the stated software-support policy
Samsung says eligible Smart Monitor models released in 2023 onward receive up to seven years of free One UI Tizen upgrades. This is Samsung’s stated policy; confirm that the exact model qualifies and check its current terms on the Samsung announcement.

- Match resolution and size to your work: the cited M9, M8, and M7 specifications are 32-inch 4K, while the UK-listed M5 is Full HD in 27- and 32-inch versions.
- Consider refresh rate and gaming: Samsung lists the M9 at 165Hz and the UK-listed M8, M7, and M5 at 60Hz. If gaming matters, check the full local specification and supported services rather than assuming Gaming Hub or a particular feature applies to every model.
- Check panel and connections: compare panel type, ports, USB-C, and the ability to connect your devices using the exact regional SKU. Samsung’s lineup pages are the place to verify those details.
- Assess the setup you need: check stand adjustments and whether the model includes the camera or other hardware you want; these details can differ by model.
- Confirm smart-service terms: verify the apps available in your country, internet and account requirements, and whether a service needs a separate subscription.
- Compare local price, availability, and support: use your country’s product page and retailer listing, since the lineup and terms are not necessarily identical across markets.
Samsung’s official pages establish what the company lists for its products, but they do not establish which model performs best in independent testing or whether a Smart Monitor is a better fit than buying a separate monitor and TV. Base that choice on your own need for built-in apps, computer connections, display specifications, and workspace.
