Chapter 421 of HUNTER×HUNTER has no announced publication date in ORICON’s October 5, 2026 report. Yoshihiro Togashi said he plans to finish his current commitments, then decline future requests with deadlines and prioritize his own manuscripts. He did not announce a chapter date or a new publication schedule.
What did Yoshihiro Togashi announce?
In a post on X on October 5, 2026, Togashi attributed his decision to overlapping physical and mental health issues. He said he would complete the work he has already accepted, then turn down future deadline-based requests and prioritize creating his own manuscripts. He added that he would announce on X when manuscript work resumes.

ORICON reproduced Togashi’s Japanese statement:
心身の不調が重なり、現在お受けしている依頼を最後に、今後は締切がある仕事の依頼を全てお断りして自身の原稿作成を優先する事にしました。 原稿作成が再開しましたら又こちらで 発表します。

A practical English translation is: “Due to a combination of physical and mental health issues, after completing the work I’m currently committed to, I have decided to turn down all future requests with deadlines and prioritize creating my own manuscripts. Once manuscript creation resumes, I will announce it here again.” This is a translation, not verified official English wording. ComicBook.com also published its own English translation.
When will the next HUNTER×HUNTER chapter be released?
ORICON reported that chapters 411–420 were published between the Weekly Shonen Jump issue released June 29 and the issue released September 7, 2026. Its October 5 report said publication timing for the next chapter had not been decided. It therefore gave no release date for chapter 421.
Completing or delivering a manuscript and having a chapter scheduled for publication are separate milestones. An unofficial H×H Status tracker’s September 15 snapshot listed chapter 421 as delivered to Jump but without an announced release date; that is tracker information, not publisher confirmation. Is HUNTER×HUNTER returning to weekly serialization?
No such return was announced. ORICON says the Weekly Shonen Jump editorial department announced in December 2022 that future chapters would appear in a format other than weekly serialization, following discussion with Togashi and consideration of his physical condition. The October 2026 post changes Togashi’s stated work priorities; it does not announce a weekly schedule.

Readers who want to catch up can look for collected editions of the manga. Crunchyroll News reported in June 2026 that Japanese volume 39 was released on July 3, 2026. That detail concerns the Japanese edition and does not establish availability or release dates for other regional editions. Crunchyroll News
ORICON reported cumulative circulation of more than 100 million copies, including digital editions. That is a reported circulation milestone, not a survey result. Buying a collected volume does not provide access to an unreleased chapter or affect the series’ schedule.
