A blank result by itself does not reveal the cause. This guide answers the common question, “Why is html.to.design importing a blank page?”, with a route-by-route fix.
Choose the import route that matches the page

Fix a blank result from a public URL
- Open the URL in a normal browser window and confirm that it loads without signing in, joining a VPN, or completing a challenge.
- In the html.to.design plugin, open the Web tab, paste the public URL, and run the import once.
- If the page is accessible only after authentication or a CAPTCHA, stop retrying URL import and use the browser extension route below. The URL import route does not solve a CAPTCHA for you.
Repeated imports of the same inaccessible URL do not establish why the page is blank. The documentation gives route-specific guidance rather than a universal diagnosis for every URL.

Capture a page that needs a login, VPN, or CAPTCHA
- Open the target page in the browser where you have access. Sign in, connect to the required VPN, or solve the CAPTCHA in that browser first.
- Use the html.to.design browser extension to capture the page as it appears in the browser.
- Transfer the capture to the plugin’s Extension tab, or save it as a
.h2dfile and drag that file into the plugin.
This method is also appropriate when the intended content depends on browser-visible state that a plain URL import may not reproduce. Keep private captures local if that is important to your workflow; the private-page guide says the saved .h2d file remains on your computer.
Distinguish a blank page from an incomplete page
If some content appears but the import stops at roughly the visible screen height, that is a page-length problem, not necessarily a wholly blank render. html.to.design documents a workaround for pages captured only at viewport length: open Chrome DevTools, enable Device Mode, set a very large viewport height, then use the extension’s Capture full page option and import the resulting .h2d file. html.to.design: Not capturing full page

- Open the page in Chrome and open DevTools.
- Turn on Device Mode.
- Set the viewport height to a very large value.
- In the html.to.design extension, choose Capture full page.
- Import the resulting
.h2dfile into the plugin.
This workaround addresses missing page length; it is not documented as a fix for every completely blank import.
Importing an HTML or saved file
Use the plugin’s File tab when you have an .h2d, HTML/HTM, ZIP, email, or MHTML/MHT file. For standalone HTML, check whether its images, stylesheets, fonts, or other resources are linked from external locations. If the needed assets are private or unavailable from the machine or service doing the import, the HTML file may render without them. Capturing the fully loaded page with the browser extension is the documented alternative for that case.

Separate font problems from blank-page problems
If the page content is present but text styling is wrong and the plugin shows a Download missing fonts button, follow the product’s missing-font guidance: check the font’s internal rendered name and whether Figma recognizes it, then install the font locally or across your organization as appropriate. A missing-font prompt concerns typography after content renders; the documentation does not identify it as a cause of an entirely blank page. html.to.design: Missing fonts
When the documented routes still fail
The documentation does not give one fix that applies to every blank result. Before asking for help, note the URL if it is safe to share, whether the page is public or authenticated, which browser and capture route you used, and whether Figma shows nothing or only part of the page. Then report the rendering issue through the product’s Discord support channel, which the issue-report page directs users to. html.to.design: Report an issue
