Wordle’s result is the number of guesses it took to find the five-letter answer, out of a maximum of six—not a conventional points total. A share card pairs that count, such as 4/6, with colored tiles that show the feedback from each guess. The New York Times says its Games app tracks Wordle stats and streaks, but the available official listing does not explain the exact streak cutoff or reset rule.
What does 4/6 mean in Wordle?
4/6 means you solved that puzzle in four guesses, with six guesses available. The official NYT Games app listing describes Wordle as a five-letter word puzzle to solve in six tries or fewer. The number is a guess count, not points awarded for letters or a score out of six in the usual points-based sense.

A shared result combines the guess count with a tile grid. The grid communicates how guesses went without spelling out the answer in the example format reproduced by the GameFAQs guide.

After each valid five-letter guess, Wordle marks each letter according to how it matches the answer:
#1 Best Overall
- Green: the letter is correct and in the correct position.
- Yellow: the letter appears in the answer, but in a different position.
- Gray: the letter does not appear in the answer.
In the share grid, each row represents a guess and preserves that guess’s tile feedback. The colors show the solve path; the fraction-like count tells how many guesses the solve took.
How does the Wordle streak work?
The NYT Games app listing says it tracks Wordle stats and streaks, and also advertises average solve times and score-history features. It confirms that streak tracking exists, but does not define how Wordle calculates a streak.

In particular, the listing does not establish the precise daily cutoff, whether or when an unplayed puzzle breaks a current streak, or how a streak behaves across devices or account changes. Helpwordle.com makes claims about missed puzzles, local-midnight resets, and account syncing, but it is not an official NYT source; those claims should not be treated as current NYT policy.
Does missing a day break your Wordle streak?
The official source available here does not state the rule for a missed day. Because it does not specify the cutoff or reset behavior, it is not possible to give a definitive answer about whether a particular gap will break a streak. Check current NYT Games support for the rule that applies to your account and play surface.

The available official listing confirms that stats and streaks are tracked, but does not document a recovery procedure or explain why saved stats might disappear. It therefore does not establish whether a missing streak can be restored. For account- or device-specific help, contact NYT Games support rather than relying on an unofficial reset or recovery workaround.
