If you want fewer interruptions on Twitch, the most dependable documented option is Twitch Turbo: a monthly subscription that removes most Twitch video and banner ads across the service. It does not remove channel sponsorships, and some Twitch-promoted content may still appear on non-channel pages. Channel subscriptions can include ad-free viewing on a particular channel, but only when that creator enables it. Browser ad-blocking extensions are not a guaranteed alternative; Twitch says extensions can affect how the site works and may conflict with viewing features.
Which Twitch ad-free option fits your needs?
| Option | Coverage | What to expect | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Twitch Turbo | Across Twitch | Monthly subscription; removes most video and banner ads. | Channel sponsorships remain, and Twitch-promoted content may still appear on non-channel pages. Check Twitch for the current price in your region. |
| Channel subscription | One creator’s channel | May include ad-free viewing if the creator has enabled that benefit. | Ad-free viewing is not automatic; creators select benefits, which can change. |
| Browser ad-blocking extension | Depends on the specific extension and setup | Extensions can modify how Twitch looks or behaves. | No specific blocker is established here as reliable or compatible; extensions can interfere with Twitch. |
Twitch describes Turbo as its option for viewing most video and banner ads without interruptions, while noting the sponsorship exception in its Turbo Overview and FAQ. The service’s support page does not establish a current price for every region or purchase channel, so check Twitch directly before subscribing.
What Turbo removes—and what can remain
Turbo applies across Twitch rather than only to one creator’s channel. Twitch says it removes most video and banner ads, but it does not remove sponsorships that are part of a channel’s content. Twitch-promoted content may also appear on pages outside channels. In other words, Turbo is not a promise that every promotional message or branded segment disappears.
Twitch also says viewers with Turbo will not see ads scheduled through Ads Manager. That is distinct from creator sponsorships, which remain part of the channel’s content. See Twitch’s How to Set Your Ad Schedule guidance.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

A subscription supports one creator and applies to that creator’s channel; it is not the same as a site-wide ad-free plan. Ad-free viewing is available to subscribers only if the creator enables it. Twitch’s How to Subscribe page notes that subscription benefits can change, so check the channel’s current benefits rather than assuming the perk is included.

Should you use a browser ad blocker on Twitch?
There is no basis here to rank a particular extension as the best Twitch ad blocker or to guarantee that one will block every ad. Twitch describes browser extensions as third-party software that can modify a website’s appearance or behavior. That can affect Twitch’s player or other site functions, and Twitch’s Turbo troubleshooting guidance lists ad-blocker conflicts as one possible reason a Turbo viewer may still see ads.
Judge an extension cautiously: its behavior can depend on the browser, its configuration, and changes to Twitch. The official guidance does not establish a specific extension’s reliability, privacy, safety, or compatibility. Twitch’s Browser Extensions & Twitch page explains how extensions may affect the site.

What to try if ads appear with Turbo
Twitch’s Turbo FAQ recommends these checks when ads appear despite an active subscription. They are support troubleshooting suggestions, not proof that a particular blocker works.
- Confirm that the Turbo subscription is active.
- Refresh the page or update the Twitch app.
- Check whether you are using an alternate player. Twitch says alternate players may not correctly retrieve Turbo status.
- Temporarily disable ad-blocking extensions or other add-ons, then check whether the issue changes.
For extension-related viewing problems more generally, Twitch also recommends refreshing or temporarily disabling extensions. If disabling an extension resolves the issue, the extension may be conflicting with Twitch; that does not establish whether it blocks ads consistently.
