How to Watch the GTA 6 Trailers in Order and Spot Every Detail

The cleanest way to watch the GTA 6 trailers in order is to use Rockstar’s official GTA VI video lineup: Trailer 1, Trailer 2, An Extended Look, then the Launch Trailer. Watch each once without pausing, then replay it with notes separated into confirmed information, visible observations, and speculation. That method keeps the story setup, Leonida geography, production details, and release information from getting mixed together.

Rockstar’s official GTA VI site is the best hub for the videos. Its Newswire posts add dated context and the company’s own descriptions, which matters because the first trailer is dated December 4, 2023 while the related Newswire announcement is dated December 5, 2023.

GTA 6 trailers in order

Order Video Published date
1 Trailer 1 December 4, 2023
2 Trailer 2 May 6, 2025
3 An Extended Look August 27, 2026
4 Launch Trailer October 15, 2026

This is a chronological viewing order, not a ranking. Each video has a different job: the first establishes the setting and protagonists, the second expands the story conflict, the extended presentation is the strongest source for visible in-game production detail, and the launch trailer is the latest named video in Rockstar’s lineup.

Where to watch the GTA 6 trailers

Start at the official GTA VI site rather than a fan playlist. The site lists Trailer 1, Trailer 2, An Extended Look, and the Launch Trailer together with Rockstar’s official watch links. This keeps you on the intended versions and makes it easier to move through the sequence without accidentally starting with a reaction video, re-edit, or analysis that presents guesses as facts.

#1 Best Overall
Grand Theft Auto VI - PlayStation 5 (Code in Box, Delivers 11/12/26, Playable 11/19/26)
  • This product contains a download code inside the box — no disc is included. Customer shipments will begin arriving November 12 for pre-load; game is playable starting November 19. Code can only be used by users holding an account for PlayStation registered to the US or Canada.
  • Pre-order to receive the Vintage Vice City Pack.
  • Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.

Use the Newswire pages for dates and wording

After watching each video, open its associated Rockstar Newswire page if you need publication context or the company’s own synopsis. The Newswire entry for the first trailer is dated one day after the trailer itself, so record the video date as December 4, 2023 and the announcement date as December 5, 2023 instead of treating the difference as a continuity error.

Set up a detail-focused viewing session

  1. Watch the complete video once at normal speed without pausing. Write down only immediate impressions, not theories.
  2. Replay it at normal speed and mark the time whenever a character, location, vehicle, object, line, or transition seems important.
  3. Use a third pass with pauses or frame stepping for visual evidence. Describe exactly what is visible before assigning meaning to it.
  4. Compare your notes with Rockstar’s written description. Official wording can confirm the broad premise, but it does not automatically confirm every interpretation of an individual frame.
  5. Keep a separate list for questions that remain unanswered. An unanswered question is more useful than a confident claim unsupported by the footage.

What Trailer 1 establishes

Trailer 1 is the foundation for the entire sequence. It introduces the state of Leonida, presents modern Vice City within that wider setting, and identifies Jason and Lucia as the central pair. Those three pieces should be written at the top of your notes before you move on, because later videos add circumstances and scope rather than replacing this basic setup.

Track the setting at two levels

Do not use “Vice City” and “Leonida” as interchangeable names. Vice City is presented as a location inside the state of Leonida. When you catalogue a shot, first ask whether it appears to belong to the city and then whether it contributes to the broader state-level setting. This distinction becomes especially important when you compare the first and second trailers.

Track Jason and Lucia as a pair

Make two columns in your notes, one for Jason and one for Lucia, plus a third for moments that involve both. Record actions, expressions, changes in circumstance, and relationship cues without inferring a backstory that the video does not state. The useful question is not “What theory does this prove?” but “What does this shot visibly add to how Rockstar frames the pair?”

Do not overread the first trailer

The first video is an introduction, not a complete plot summary. It establishes the world and protagonists, but it does not by itself confirm every event viewers may connect to later footage. Save unverified links between individual shots for a speculation section in your notes.

What Trailer 2 adds

Trailer 2 moves from introduction to conflict. Rockstar describes Jason and Lucia as people who know that “the deck is stacked against them.” The company’s synopsis says an easy score goes wrong, leaving them on “the darkest side of the sunniest place in America” and inside a criminal conspiracy stretching across Leonida.

IRIPLEZO Grand Theft Auto V
  • STUNNING VISUALS — Enhanced levels of fidelity and performance with new graphics modes featuring up to 4K resolution, up to 60 frames per second, HDR options, ray tracing, improved texture quality, and more
  • FASTER LOADING — Quicker access to the action as the world of Los Santos and Blaine County load in faster than ever before.
  • ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS AND HAPTIC FEEDBACK — Feel every moment through the DualSense controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and more.
  • TEMPEST 3D AUDIO — Hear the sounds of the world with pinpoint precision: the throttle of a stolen supercar, the rattle of neighbouring gunfire, the roar of a helicopter overhead, and more.
  • Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.

Use the official synopsis as the plot baseline

Write the confirmed setup in three steps: Jason and Lucia attempt an easy score; the score goes wrong; the consequences place them in a criminal conspiracy that extends across the state. This is the level of certainty supported by Rockstar’s description. It gives you a framework for reading the trailer without turning every cut, glance, or background figure into a confirmed plot point.

Mark cause-and-effect shots carefully

On a second viewing, flag shots that appear to clarify the failed score, the pressure on Jason and Lucia, or the wider conspiracy. Label them as “possible connection” until the video or Rockstar’s text makes the relationship explicit. A sequence can be edited for mood or contrast rather than shown in chronological order, so visual adjacency is not proof of causation.

Separate state-wide scope from city imagery

Trailer 2’s description explicitly expands the conspiracy across Leonida. When you review the footage, classify each apparent location as city-level, state-level, or unresolved. This prevents a shot that merely looks outside Vice City from being presented as a confirmed location elsewhere in Leonida.

How to use An Extended Look

Rockstar says An Extended Look was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5 and calls it an extended presentation of the series’ biggest, most immersive evolution. That makes it the most useful stop for studying production, environments, animation, and systems that are visibly demonstrated in the footage.

What counts as evidence in this video

  • Production: Note lighting, camera behavior, transitions, crowd movement, and other presentation choices that are directly visible.
  • Environment: Record distinct architectural, natural, or urban spaces only when the footage clearly shows them. Keep “looks like” separate from a named location.
  • Animation: Describe observable movement, facial performance, interaction, or physical response without claiming a technical method Rockstar has not disclosed.
  • Systems: Log a mechanic only when the video visibly demonstrates an interaction or repeated behavior. A cinematic cutaway is not automatically proof of a playable system.

Label observations instead of promoting them to facts

Use tags such as confirmed by Rockstar, visible in footage, reasonable observation, and unconfirmed theory. For example, “captured from in-game PlayStation 5 footage” belongs in the first category because Rockstar states it. “The animation appears to change with the character’s movement” belongs in the second or third category, depending on how directly the footage supports it. “This object must be part of a mission system” remains a theory unless Rockstar demonstrates that function.

What the Launch Trailer contributes

The Launch Trailer is the latest named video in the official lineup. Its announcement repeats the Jason-and-Lucia premise and places the game’s launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Treat it as a final framing video rather than as permission to rewrite earlier evidence.

Use it to update your timeline

After watching the Launch Trailer, add any newly stated or visibly clarified circumstances to the existing Jason-and-Lucia timeline. Keep earlier notes intact and mark changed interpretations with the date of the video that prompted the change. This gives you an audit trail instead of a blended summary in which you can no longer tell which trailer introduced an idea.

Do not infer features from marketing emphasis

A launch trailer can emphasize tone, characters, or dramatic stakes. Emphasis is not the same as a complete list of gameplay systems, missions, map boundaries, or technical specifications. Record what is shown and what Rockstar says; leave unstated features out of your confirmed list.

What to look for in the GTA 6 trailer

A repeatable checklist produces better notes than trying to remember every cut. Use the categories below for all four videos, then give each trailer the category where it adds the most new evidence.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Characters and relationship cues

  • Write down every action performed by Jason and Lucia, including moments where one reacts to the other.
  • Separate an individual character’s action from a shared action; this helps you track changing circumstances without assuming motives.
  • Record dialogue or on-screen wording exactly when it is legible. If a line is unclear, mark it as uncertain rather than silently correcting it.
  • Note recurring visual or behavioral cues, but do not turn a repeated image into a confirmed relationship history.

Geography and place names

  • Use “Vice City” only for material the first trailer identifies or footage clearly places in the city.
  • Use “Leonida” for the wider state-level context established by Rockstar.
  • Keep an “unresolved location” column for scenes that cannot be confidently assigned.
  • Do not create a map from visual resemblance alone. Similar architecture, vegetation, or weather can support an observation but not a named location.

Plot setup and consequences

  • In Trailer 2, mark evidence connected to the easy score that goes wrong.
  • Track material that appears connected to the criminal conspiracy, while preserving the distinction between an apparent connection and a confirmed one.
  • Write plot events in the order the trailer presents them, then create a separate possible chronology if editing makes the order uncertain.
  • Never use a fan theory as a substitute for a missing official explanation.

Presentation and systems

  • In An Extended Look, identify what is visibly demonstrated in in-game PlayStation 5 footage.
  • Describe behavior before naming a system. “A character interacts with an object” is stronger than assigning an undisclosed mechanic to that interaction.
  • Mark frame-by-frame interpretations as observations, especially when the video uses rapid cuts, depth-of-field, or dark lighting.

Release context

Keep a final line in your notes for platform and launch information. The official site and Launch Trailer identify PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and the November 19, 2026 release. Do not add other platforms unless Rockstar announces them through an official source.

A practical note-taking template

Copy this structure into a document or spreadsheet before you begin:

Field What to record
Trailer The exact video name
Time The playback position of the shot
Subject Jason, Lucia, another character, location, object, or system
Visible evidence A literal description of what appears on screen
Official wording Any matching statement from Rockstar’s page
Confidence Confirmed, visible observation, possible interpretation, or speculation
Follow-up A question that remains unanswered

This format prevents a common mistake: writing an interpretation first and later forgetting which part came from the footage. It also lets you compare the same subject across trailers without repeating a claim as though every video introduced it.

Confirmed information versus speculation

The trailers invite close reading, but a useful guide must show where certainty ends. Use the following rules when writing notes, captions, or social posts:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Call something confirmed when Rockstar states it in an official description or when the release/platform information is explicitly announced.
  • Call something a visible observation when the footage plainly shows it but Rockstar has not named or explained it.
  • Call something an interpretation when it connects separate shots, assigns an identity, or infers chronology.
  • Call something speculation when it predicts an unannounced feature, mission, character history, location, or release detail.

Do not combine these levels in one sentence. A clear sentence can say that Rockstar describes a criminal conspiracy across Leonida, while a separate sentence says that a particular shot may relate to it. That wording protects readers from mistaking editing or visual resemblance for official confirmation.

Common mistakes when watching the videos

Starting with the newest trailer

The Launch Trailer is current, but beginning there removes the original setting and character introduction. Follow the chronological sequence so each later description has the context Rockstar established earlier.

Treating the date discrepancy as an error

The first trailer’s video date and the Newswire announcement date differ by one day. Record both dates with their labels; there is no need to choose one and discard the other.

Calling every scene “Vice City”

Vice City is part of Leonida, not a replacement name for the entire setting. Use the city/state distinction when categorizing locations.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Presenting theories as plot facts

Trailer editing can suggest connections without confirming them. Keep a visible boundary between Rockstar’s synopsis, what the footage shows, and your own interpretation.

Adding unofficial statistics

The consulted Rockstar pages do not publish named numerical statistics needed for this viewing guide. Avoid inserting map sizes, character counts, performance targets, or other figures from unverified posts.

Assuming a platform from a capture source

An Extended Look being captured from in-game PlayStation 5 footage does not, by itself, establish every platform detail. Use Rockstar’s explicit platform announcement for the launch-platform list.

GTA 6 release date and platforms

Rockstar’s official announcement identifies November 19, 2026 as the release date and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as the launch platforms. Those are the details to use when the trailers are discussed together with release planning. The date and platforms describe the announced launch information; they do not establish availability on additional systems.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Checking a physical PlayStation 5 edition

Rockstar says the physical PlayStation 5 version contains a download code. If you are checking a retailer listing, verify the region, edition, current price, and whether the listing still matches the announced product immediately before purchase. A listing can change independently of the trailer information, so do not treat a store page as a substitute for Rockstar’s platform announcement.

A concise viewing workflow

  1. Open the official GTA VI site and select Trailer 1.
  2. Watch Trailer 1 once, then note Leonida, modern Vice City, Jason, and Lucia.
  3. Play Trailer 2 and add the failed easy score and state-wide criminal-conspiracy setup from Rockstar’s description.
  4. Watch An Extended Look with the observation checklist, paying particular attention to details visibly presented as in-game PlayStation 5 footage.
  5. Finish with the Launch Trailer and update only information that is newly stated or clearly shown.
  6. Review your notes, moving every unsupported theory into a separate speculation section.
  7. Use the official GTA VI site and Newswire wording when you share dates, platforms, or plot setup.

Following that order gives you the intended narrative progression while preserving the distinction between setting, story premise, visible production evidence, and speculation. It is the most reliable way to watch the GTA 6 trailers in order and spot details without claiming more than Rockstar has actually shown.
