What you need to watch DISH on a phone
- A DISH account: Sign in to the DISH Anywhere app with your account credentials. DISH describes the app as included with its satellite service. DISH Anywhere features
- A compatible phone and the app: DISH’s published minimums are iOS 15.1 for iPhones and Android OS 7 for Android phones. Requirements can change, so check DISH’s current system requirements and your app marketplace listing. DISH says phones need the app; dishanywhere.com is for desktop or laptop browsers.
- An internet connection: Mobile viewing uses internet access. To watch live or recorded TV through your home receiver while away, DISH specifies a compatible Hopper 3 connected to the internet. DISH Hopper 3
Install and sign in to DISH Anywhere
- Open the App Store on an iPhone or the Google Play Store on an Android phone, then find and install DISH Anywhere.
- Open the app and sign in with your DISH account.
- Choose the kind of content you want to watch—such as eligible live TV, DVR recordings, or on-demand programs—and select a title.
If you are trying to use a phone browser instead, switch to the app: DISH’s requirements page says the website is intended for desktop and laptop browsers.

How phone viewing works: receiver access versus streaming channels

These options are not interchangeable: a channel may be available through one route but not another. Your package and receiver setup determine which viewing options appear.

- Open DISH Anywhere and sign in.
- Tap Guide.
- Apply the Streaming filter.
- Select a program and tap Play.

Watch DVR recordings and manage recordings
When your setup supports remote receiver viewing, use the app to find and play eligible recordings in your DVR library. DISH’s app listing also describes scheduling recordings and managing the DVR library from the app. DISH Anywhere on the Apple App Store
If live or recorded receiver content is unavailable, check that the Hopper is a compatible model and connected to the internet, then confirm that you are signed in to the right DISH account. Some content availability can also depend on your subscription.

Download eligible shows for offline viewing
DISH says some shows can be downloaded in advance for offline viewing, but not every On Demand title is downloadable. Download an eligible title while you have internet access, before traveling or going somewhere without a connection. The feature information does not establish that all DVR recordings can be downloaded, so do not assume a recording will be available offline. DISH Anywhere features
Cast phone viewing to a television (optional)
Casting is not necessary to watch on your phone. If you want to put the app’s viewing on a TV, DISH says, “Chromecast is the only casting device currently supported.” Check DISH’s current requirements before buying or setting up casting hardware, since compatibility can change. What DISH does not specify for phone viewing
The cited DISH pages do not provide a universal mobile-data usage figure, guaranteed video resolution, or a general allowance for simultaneous mobile streams. Actual data use and playback can vary, so avoid relying on an unsourced estimate when planning a limited-data connection.
