You can’t install the ABC app on a VIZIO Smart TV: ABC discontinued its mobile and streaming-device apps on September 23, 2024. To watch a local ABC broadcast, try an antenna if your TV has a tuner and your location receives the station, or check with your TV provider. For episodes on demand, ABC lists ABC.com, Hulu and other services, depending on the program.
Can you get the ABC app on a VIZIO TV?
No. ABC says its mobile and streaming-device apps are no longer available. The shutdown for connected TVs and mobile devices took effect on September 23, 2024, so instructions that tell you to download the ABC app to a VIZIO are out of date. ABC Help confirms the app is no longer available; its 2024 announcement gave the shutdown date.

Ways to watch ABC on a VIZIO TV now
| Option | Best for | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Over-the-air antenna | Your local ABC broadcast | The TV needs a tuner, a local ABC affiliate must be receivable at your address, and reception depends on the antenna and conditions. VIZIO lists a tuner on one model, but check your own model. |
| TV provider | Live channel access or programs that require provider sign-in | Confirm that your provider carries your local ABC channel and supports an app on your specific VIZIO model. ABC advises viewers to check with their provider. ABC’s guidance does not confirm app support or local channel carriage for a particular provider and TV. |
| Hulu | ABC episodes on demand | ABC says Hulu offers full episodes the next day and full seasons anytime. Check the service for the show’s current catalog and access requirements. ABC’s viewing options |
| ABC.com | ABC content through a desktop or mobile web browser | ABC lists its website as an option, but that does not establish compatibility with the browser on a VIZIO TV. See ABC’s listed alternatives. |
ABC also points viewers to Disney+, ABC News, local affiliates and ESPN for specific programming. These services cover different content and do not necessarily provide your local ABC broadcast feed. Check the relevant service for the program you want. ABC’s current alternatives

How to watch your local ABC channel with an antenna
- Check your VIZIO model specifications. Look for a built-in TV tuner. Tuner availability varies by model; a VIZIO manual describes over-the-air connections generally, but it is not proof that every VIZIO has a tuner or can receive a particular station. Example VIZIO model specifications | VIZIO SmartCast manual
- Connect an antenna to the TV’s antenna or coaxial input. Choose an antenna suited to your location; no antenna guarantees reception of ABC at every address.
- Run the TV’s channel scan or antenna setup. Menu names and steps vary by model, so use the instructions for your exact TV. If the local affiliate is receivable, it may appear in the scanned channel list.
An antenna is a route to local broadcast television, not to every ABC program on demand. Reception depends on both the TV’s hardware and the signal available where you live.

Finding ABC episodes and other programming
For on-demand episodes, ABC names ABC.com and Hulu among its options. ABC describes Hulu as offering full episodes the next day and full seasons anytime; the available shows and access requirements can change. ABC’s current help page also directs viewers to Disney+ for Disney, Marvel and National Geographic content, ABC News, local affiliates and ESPN for sports. Check the service itself for the title and access terms. ABC shows and viewing options
ABC.com is a listed way to watch ABC content, but the available information does not establish that ABC.com works in a VIZIO TV browser. If the TV browser cannot play a program, use a supported device or service rather than expecting the discontinued ABC app to return.
