To watch a channel that is live around the clock, open YouTube’s Live section or use the channel’s shared stream link. On a computer, go to YouTube.com and choose Live. In the Android app, open the top-left menu and choose Live. If the broadcast is scheduled, select Notify me when that button appears.
A 24/7 broadcast made from uploaded videos still appears as an ordinary YouTube live stream. You do not need a special viewer mode, and you do not need to download the uploaded files. There are important limits, however: very long streams may not support full rewind, and YouTube does not guarantee a complete replay of a broadcast that runs longer than 12 hours.

Find the channel’s current live stream
Use YouTube on a computer
- Open YouTube.com in your browser.
- Select Live from YouTube’s navigation.
- Browse the streams marked as currently live, or look through upcoming broadcasts.
- Select the channel’s stream to open its watch page.
The Live page is the broadest way to discover channels you do not already follow. A channel’s own link is faster when you have received it in a message, post, website, or social profile.

Use the Android app
- Open the YouTube app.
- Open the menu from the top-left corner.
- Select Live.
- Tap the stream you want to watch.
YouTube also says viewers can enter a live stream while browsing Shorts when a live stream is surfaced there. Menu placement can change as the app is updated, so use the app’s current navigation labels if they differ slightly.

Open a channel directly
If you know the channel, open its channel page and look for a live listing or upcoming stream. A channel may also publish a direct stream URL. When a scheduled stream offers Notify me, select it to receive a reminder through your YouTube notifications.
Check whether it is really live
Before settling in, identify the stream’s state and format. YouTube uses several formats that can look similar in search results.

YouTube defines a live stream as media broadcast in real time. A Premiere is a scheduled first viewing of a new video. A replay or highlight is posted after the live event has ended, so it should not be confused with a channel that is currently broadcasting.
Watch a 24/7 uploaded-video stream
Once the live watch page opens, playback works like other YouTube videos, with a few live-specific controls.
Pause and resume with DVR
When DVR is enabled for the broadcast, you can pause the live feed and resume from the point where you stopped. You may also be able to rewind. The control is not unlimited: YouTube cautions that rewind can be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours, and some devices or platform versions can impose lower limits.
Do not expect to drag all the way back to the beginning of an all-day broadcast. A 24/7 stream is far beyond the duration for which full DVR behavior is dependable.

Use the watch page for chat
Live Chat is available on YouTube watch pages. Watching does not require you to chat, and an embedded player on another website may not expose the full chat experience. If chat is missing, open the stream on YouTube itself and check whether the broadcaster has enabled it.
Adjust playback for a long session
- Choose a quality level that your connection can sustain continuously rather than switching between qualities every few seconds.
- Use headphones or speakers at a comfortable level; a looping stream can run for many hours.
- If playback stops, refresh the watch page and check whether the channel has started a replacement stream.
- On mobile data, monitor usage before leaving a high-resolution stream running for an extended period.
Why uploaded videos can appear as a live broadcast
Uploading a video to a channel does not automatically turn it into a 24/7 live stream. The channel owner must send the prerecorded files through a streaming encoder or a cloud-based broadcasting service. The encoder connects to YouTube with the channel’s stream URL and stream key, sends the video feed, and makes the watch page live.
The source can be one recording, a playlist, or a sequence of files. From your perspective as a viewer, the result is still a normal live watch page. The production method is on the creator side; there is no separate “uploaded videos live” mode that viewers must activate.
If you are setting up the channel
The following section is for a channel owner who wants viewers to find an always-on broadcast made from prerecorded videos.
Meet YouTube’s basic live-streaming requirements
- The channel must be verified.
- YouTube says the channel must not have live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- The creator must be at least 16 years old.
- First-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours.
- Every broadcast must follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.
Enable live streaming before your planned launch, not minutes before it. A first-time activation delay can prevent a scheduled event from starting.
Prepare the videos and rights
- Collect the recordings you are legally allowed to broadcast.
- Arrange them in the order you want viewers to experience them.
- Check every music track, image, clip, voice recording, and performance for the required license or permission.
- Remove material that could trigger a copyright claim or takedown.
- Decide whether the stream should loop a single file or move through a playlist.
Do not assume that material being available on YouTube gives you permission to rebroadcast it. Repeated or minimally changed uploads can also raise reused-content concerns for a channel’s monetization review. A continuous schedule does not exempt the channel from copyright, Community Guidelines, or Terms of Service requirements.

Connect an encoder to YouTube
- In YouTube’s live-control workflow, create or select the stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder. Treat the key as a password; anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to the channel.
- Add the prerecorded file or playlist to the encoder’s media source.
- Set the output resolution and frame rate to match the source you intend to show. Avoid upscaling a low-resolution file merely to display a larger number.
- Use a stable bitrate appropriate for that resolution and your upload connection. A constant bitrate is generally easier for a long-running broadcast to sustain than a highly variable output.
- Use regular keyframes. A two-second keyframe interval is a common practical baseline, but confirm the current encoder guidance for the software you use.
- Start sending the feed, then verify that YouTube’s preview and watch page show the expected video and audio.
- Keep the encoder connected and monitor it during the initial launch.
The exact bitrate depends on resolution, frame rate, codec, and motion in the source. A 4K file with rapid movement needs more bandwidth than a static 1080p slide. If the upload connection cannot sustain the chosen output, lower the output setting instead of accepting repeated buffering.
Plan for a replacement stream
A 24/7 channel may need to stop and restart a broadcast because of maintenance, encoder failure, a lost connection, or a YouTube-side interruption. Tell viewers where to find the next stream, and keep the channel page organized so an upcoming or replacement broadcast is easy to identify.
Copyright, reused content, and viewer safety
Copyright claims are separate from stream availability
A stream can be technically live while still being subject to a copyright claim, block, or takedown. Rights holders can act on music, films, television footage, sports clips, photographs, and other protected material. Use your own recordings or obtain permissions that cover online public performance and rebroadcasting.

Channels seeking monetization should consider whether a looping schedule adds meaningful original value. A playlist made entirely of material copied from elsewhere may be treated differently from a channel’s own educational, devotional, musical, or documentary recordings. YouTube’s monetization decisions can change, so review the current policy language before building a business around a continuous stream.
Do not expose the stream key
Keep the key out of public screenshots, tutorials that show real credentials, and shared documents. If you suspect it has been exposed, rotate or regenerate it in YouTube’s live settings and update the encoder immediately.
What happens when the 24/7 stream ends
Watching live and watching a replay are separate experiences. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Because a 24/7 broadcast is much longer than that threshold, a complete replay is not guaranteed.

If the channel goes offline, look at its Videos and Live tabs for separately posted recordings, shorter event replays, or highlights. The absence of a full replay does not mean the original live stream was never available; it may simply have exceeded YouTube’s archival limit.
