To use a Wistia Channel, create one in your account, add or sync media, publish the items viewers should see, customize the gallery, and share its link or embed. You can then review plays, time played, and top episodes in Channel analytics.
Create a Wistia Channel
In your Wistia account, open Channels from the left navigation and select Create. Enter a title and description. You can also create a Channel by sharing a folder as a Channel or by selecting media to start one. See Wistia’s Channels guide for the current creation options.

If you want the Channel to support podcasting, enable it during setup or later in its settings. The same guide covers importing an existing RSS feed. Podcasting changes some publishing behavior: auto-publishing is not compatible with Channels that have podcasting enabled.

Add or sync content
Open the Channel’s Add menu to upload a file, choose existing Wistia media, add a webinar, or sync a folder. Folder syncing is useful when you want the Channel to reflect media kept in that folder. Wistia documents these options in its Channel instructions.

Choose what viewers can see
Newly added media is a draft by default, so adding an item does not automatically make it visible. Publish an episode immediately, schedule it for a future time, or return it to draft when it should no longer appear as published. If you prefer automatic publishing, configure it in Channel settings, provided podcasting is not enabled.

Customize the Channel and organize its content
Choose Customize on the Channel page to adjust its presentation and viewer options. Available controls include branding and player or button colors, background, layout, font, header, logo, trailer, and featured media. You can also choose whether to show transcripts, enable search, and set access options. Arrange media into sections to make a larger gallery easier to browse. Wistia’s customization guide documents these settings.

- Sections and capacity: A Channel supports up to 24 sections, with up to 100 media items per section, according to Wistia Help Center documentation in 2026.
- Search: Search is enabled by default and can return matches in titles, descriptions, and transcript text. Summary text is searchable; Override Description text is not.
- Transcripts: Transcripts are enabled by default. Hiding them removes them from the Channel display, but Wistia says the transcript remains intact and is used for SEO and indexing when content is shared.
- Player settings: A media item’s standalone player settings may differ from its appearance in a Channel; Channel settings can take precedence while the media is viewed there.
Share a link or embed the Channel
Open the Channel’s Share modal to copy a public link or choose an embed option. Wistia documents inline, popover, and playlist Channel embeds, with responsive or fixed sizing. Pick the display that fits the destination page and test it there before sharing it widely. The Wistia embedding overview recommends inline Standard embeds and responsive sizing for most platforms, but use the Channel-specific option that suits your page.

Check access and destination compatibility
- Public access: Use this when viewers should be able to open the Channel without an additional access requirement.
- Password or invited users: These access options are available in Channel sharing or customization settings. Make sure the intended audience can satisfy the chosen requirement.
- Domain Restrictions: Direct Channel share links are incompatible with Domain Restrictions and can produce an authorization error. Wistia advises embedding the Channel on an approved domain instead.
- Iframe limitation: Channel embeds are not compatible with iframes. Confirm the destination can host the selected Channel embed directly.
These restrictions and sharing options are covered in Wistia’s Channels documentation. If you manage restricted media, verify both the access setting and the page where viewers will open it; a working embed on one destination does not establish access on another.

Open Analytics on the Channel page to review plays, total time played, and top episodes. For Channels with podcasting and syndication, Wistia also provides podcast-related analytics, including listening-related measures. The available figures depend on whether those podcast features are in use; see the Channels guide for the Channel analytics overview.
