You can use Streamlabs Mobile to send a phone camera or screen feed to YouTube by entering YouTube’s server URL and stream key under Custom RTMP Server setup. But that phone-based workflow is not a documented unattended 24/7 solution: the phone and its network connection must remain in operation. For an always-on channel that loops uploaded videos from the cloud, StreamNeo is an alternative built for that use.
Before you start: enable YouTube live streaming
If this is the first time the channel has gone live, enable live streaming in YouTube and allow for activation to take up to 24 hours. YouTube also requires channel verification and that the channel not have a recent live-streaming restriction. Check eligibility before scheduling a broadcast. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.

Find the YouTube stream URL and key
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room.
- Create a stream or select an existing one, then open its stream settings.
- Copy the server URL and stream key. The key is a credential that lets an encoder send video to your channel. Keep it private; anyone with access to it may be able to stream to your destination.
If you think the key has been exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and replace the saved key in Streamlabs. YouTube documents key reuse, reset, and other controls in Manage live stream settings.
Configure Custom RTMP in Streamlabs Mobile
- Open Streamlabs Mobile and its menu.
- Go to Account Settings, then choose Custom RTMP Server setup.
- Enter a platform label, YouTube’s server URL, and the stream key copied from Live Control Room.
- Save the destination. When you start a broadcast, select that configured RTMP destination.
These are the menu labels in Streamlabs’ published Custom RTMP instructions; app interfaces can change. Streamlabs Mobile also documents a native YouTube connection: connect the platform and select YouTube in the Go Live workflow. Test the broadcast before going public
- Set the YouTube stream to private or unlisted for the test.
- Use representative audio and movement, then check the YouTube preview and stream health.
- Choose resolution and bitrate to fit both YouTube’s current guidance and the upload connection available to the phone. There is no single setting that suits every connection.
- Monitor the stream while it is live. YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate guidance includes settings tables and monitoring advice.
Can Streamlabs Mobile keep a channel live 24/7?
Not as a documented guarantee of this mobile workflow. Streamlabs describes broadcasting a phone camera or screen from the app; that entails keeping the phone, power, app, and network in working order. The published guidance does not promise unattended, round-the-clock operation or recovery after every interruption.
YouTube discusses 24/7 continuous streaming as a use case for encoder products and services, rather than as a promise about a phone app. If the goal is a nonstop channel, distinguish a camera stream that depends on a phone from an encoder or cloud service designed to keep a feed running. YouTube’s encoder guidance explains the encoder-based approach.

What to check when choosing an always-on method
For a continuous stream, compare whether a tool supports the source you need—live camera or prerecorded looping video—and how it handles disconnects, restart behavior, monitoring, stream-key security, output quality, and operating costs. YouTube’s stream settings include auto-start and auto-stop controls, but those settings alone do not make a phone workflow unattended. Verify each candidate’s current capabilities, then test it with the content and connection you plan to use.

Streamlabs shows a live timer, but YouTube does not show the stream
Confirm the destination URL and key, and check whether YouTube is receiving the feed in Live Control Room. Streamlabs has documented a Disconnect Protection connectivity issue that could produce this symptom. Its status and recommended workarounds can be version-sensitive, so check the current Streamlabs mobile issue notice before applying an older fix.

The stream will not start
- Confirm live streaming is enabled and the channel is eligible; first-time enablement can take up to 24 hours.
- Check that you selected the saved RTMP destination and that its server URL and key match the stream in Live Control Room.
- If the key was reset, update the saved destination in Streamlabs.
- Check the phone’s network connection and use YouTube’s stream-health feedback to diagnose an upload or settings mismatch.
The picture or audio is unstable
Test again at a resolution and bitrate appropriate to the phone’s actual upload connection. Check audio and movement in the preview, and monitor stream health rather than assuming a setting that worked on another network will work here.
