If Larix Broadcaster stops when you lock your Android phone, first check the app’s battery setting and, on Samsung phones, remove Larix from Sleeping apps and Deep sleeping apps. Also check background-data access if you stream over mobile data. Larix says Android background streaming is available by default until the app is explicitly closed, so these settings are useful troubleshooting checks—not proof that battery management is always the cause.
Why Larix may stop after the screen locks
Larix Broadcaster’s FAQ says background streaming is available by default on Android and that the app works in the background until it is explicitly closed (Softvelum’s Larix FAQ). Android can nevertheless limit background activity: Doze may defer CPU and network work while a device is idle, App Standby may defer background network use for apps without recent activity, and the system’s Restricted app state can prevent background running. A stream that ends at screen lock is a clue, not a diagnosis. A network interruption, thermal condition, app issue, or stream-server problem could also be involved. Use the steps below to isolate settings before drawing a conclusion.

Check Larix’s Android battery setting
- Open Settings > Apps > Larix Broadcaster > Battery. Depending on the Android version or phone maker, the screen may instead be labelled App battery usage.
- If the phone offers Unrestricted, select it for a troubleshooting test. Some phones use a term such as Don’t optimize; available options and wording vary.
- Start a short stream, lock the screen without force-closing Larix, and check whether the stream remains live.
Android describes unrestricted background use as allowing an app to work in the background, but it can use more battery. Use it as a targeted setting for Larix rather than changing power settings for every app. Android’s background optimization guide explains the system’s background limits.

Samsung Galaxy: check sleeping-app lists
Samsung devices can place apps in Sleeping apps or Deep sleeping apps, which can restrict their background activity. Samsung’s general route is Settings > Device care > Battery > Background usage limits. Menu names and locations differ across One UI and Android versions; if the route does not match your phone, search Settings for “Background usage limits” or “Never sleeping apps.”
- Open Background usage limits.
- Remove Larix from Sleeping apps and Deep sleeping apps if it appears in either list.
- If available, add Larix to Never sleeping apps for the test.
- Return to Larix’s app battery screen and choose Unrestricted if your device offers it.
Samsung’s background-app troubleshooting guidance recommends checking battery mode, background data, and sleeping-app lists, while noting that steps vary by Android release. Its developer documentation describes the Never sleeping apps exception. Samsung also notes that One UI 6 / Android 14 aligned foreground-service behavior with newer Android API policy for apps targeting Android 14; that platform change is not a promise that a particular app will stream continuously on every device.

Allow background data when using mobile service
If the stream uses cellular data, check that Android allows Larix to use data in the background and that Data Saver is not blocking it. Look under Settings > Apps > Larix Broadcaster > Mobile data or a similarly named network-permission screen. If Data Saver is on, look for Unrestricted data access and allow Larix there if available. The exact path varies by Android version and manufacturer. Google’s background data help describes the setting and its version-dependent navigation.
Test once on Wi-Fi and once on cellular, where practical. If the stream survives on one network but not the other, investigate the affected network and its data restrictions rather than assuming the battery setting explains both cases.

Retest in a way that identifies the trigger
- Note your phone model, Android version (and One UI version on Samsung), Larix version, and whether the stream stops immediately or after a delay.
- Start a short stream with Larix, then lock the screen without force-closing the app. Record whether it stays live and how long it takes to stop, if it does.
- Repeat with the other network type—Wi-Fi or cellular—if available.
- Change one relevant setting at a time, then repeat the same test. This makes it easier to see whether battery management or background data affected the result.
If Larix still stops, give Larix support or the phone manufacturer the device and app versions, exact stop timing, whether the app remains open, and the network type. A factory reset is not a first-line test: Samsung warns that resetting removes data and advises backing up first.
