Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteYou can automate webpage captures by sending a page URL and your ScreenshotAPI.net token through a Zapier workflow, then mapping the capture result into the next action. ScreenshotAPI.net lists Zapier as an integration, but its public documentation does not establish the live Zapier trigger and action labels or a universal output-field format. Build from the fields shown in your own Zapier editor and test the returned data before connecting downstream steps.
What you need before building the Zap
- A ScreenshotAPI.net account and API key. The service calls the key a
tokenin its request parameters. See the Get Started documentation. - A Zapier trigger that supplies the webpage URL, such as a new form submission or another event. The trigger is your choice; the official pages reviewed do not specify a required trigger.
- A destination action that can use the capture result, such as a step that accepts a file, image URL, or other returned value. Confirm what the action accepts before mapping fields.
- Permission to capture the page. For authenticated sites, ScreenshotAPI.net describes cookies and saved cookie templates; treat cookie values as credentials and capture only pages you are authorized to access. See its features page.
How to build the workflow in Zapier
ScreenshotAPI.net lists Zapier among its integrations on its homepage. The exact current editor labels and output mapping are not documented in the reviewed vendor pages, so use the live Zapier editor as the authority for field names rather than assuming a specific prebuilt action.

- Create the trigger. In Zapier, choose the app and event that will provide the target page URL. Run a trigger test and make sure the sample record contains the complete URL.
- Add the ScreenshotAPI.net step. Search Zapier’s app and action picker for ScreenshotAPI.net. If an available action asks for a token or API key, provide the key from your ScreenshotAPI.net dashboard using the credential field presented by Zapier. If you do not see an appropriate action, do not substitute guessed field names; use the supported integration options shown in your account or contact the vendors for current setup details.
- Map the page URL. Map the trigger’s URL value to the screenshot request’s URL input. If the action presents additional options, select only what the next step needs: for example, image or PDF output and viewport or full-page capture.
- Test the capture and inspect the result. Run the action with a real sample URL. Examine every returned field in the test result; the public pages reviewed do not establish whether every Zapier configuration returns a file, hosted URL, or another data shape.
- Map the verified output downstream. Choose the returned field that matches the next action’s input. If that action needs a file but the capture step returns a URL (or vice versa), use an appropriate intermediary step supported by your Zap and test it before publishing.
- Test the complete Zap. Run a full test from trigger through destination. Check that the captured page is the intended one, the format is accepted, and the destination can retrieve or store the result. Then publish the Zap.
Choose capture settings for the next step
ScreenshotAPI.net documents image and PDF output, full-page capture, and refresh behavior. Its listed image formats include JPEG, PNG, and WebP. The exact parameter names and available values can depend on the current endpoint and documentation version; check the live Render a Screenshot documentation before configuring a request.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →| Decision | Use it when | Check in the Zap |
|---|---|---|
| Viewport or full-page | The destination needs only the visible screen, or needs the whole page. | Verify the resulting dimensions and whether long-page content is included. |
| Image or PDF | The next action expects a visual image or a document. | Match the format to the destination’s accepted file types. |
| Fresh capture or cached result | You need the latest page state rather than a reusable prior result. | The Get Started guide documents fresh=true to request a current screenshot instead of reusing a cached result. |
| Cookies for an authenticated page | The authorized capture requires a signed-in session. | Check the current integration’s support and mapping for cookie options; the reviewed pages do not establish their exact Zapier field mapping. |
For dynamic pages, long content, and lazy-loaded images, the service describes support for single-page applications, delays, long pages, and lazy loading. Those capabilities do not guarantee a correct capture for every site; test the actual target page and adjust the available wait or rendering settings.

Endpoints and direct request format
The official pages show more than one endpoint example: a versioned endpoint, https://shot.screenshotapi.net/v3/screenshot, and a getting-started example using https://shot.screenshotapi.net/screenshot. Do not copy an older endpoint into an automation without checking the current vendor documentation for the endpoint and parameters tied to your account or integration.
The documented request concept is a ScreenshotAPI.net token plus a target URL and optional capture settings. For a direct HTTP request, use the endpoint and exact parameter names from the current Get Started and render documentation. A direct API call can help isolate whether a failure is in the screenshot request or in Zapier’s field mapping; it does not establish the shape of the result returned by a particular Zapier action.

Troubleshoot common problems
- Authentication error: Check that the token is current, has no extra spaces, and is being sent in the credential field or request parameter required by the current integration. The help page says dashboard settings can roll the key, issuing a new key and revoking the old one. If you rotate it, update the saved Zapier credential as well. See ScreenshotAPI.net Help.
- Invalid URL or malformed request: Confirm the mapped value includes the scheme, such as
https://, and is a complete webpage address. Check URL encoding, the endpoint version, and option names against the current docs. - The next Zap step cannot use the result: Inspect the capture test output and compare its actual fields with the destination’s required input. Do not assume a file, image URL, or other field name based on another configuration.
- The capture shows an old page: The getting-started guide documents
fresh=trueto request a current screenshot instead of reusing a cached result. Confirm the option is supported by the endpoint and Zapier action you are using. - The page is incomplete or blank: Check that the target URL loads without a human login or browser-only interaction, then try appropriate wait or rendering options exposed by the service. Test the actual page because behavior varies with its scripts and loading pattern.
- Private content is missing: Confirm the authenticated workflow is authorized and that cookies or a saved cookie template are supported in the integration path you chose. Never expose session cookies in a public Zap field or log.
- Request errors persist: ScreenshotAPI.net says its service returns informative HTTP status codes for errors. Use the response status and details to check the token, URL, endpoint version, and request parameters.
Reliability, retention, and cost considerations
Test with representative pages, not just one static URL: dynamic rendering, long pages, authentication, and changing page content can affect whether a result is usable. A Zap that runs successfully is not necessarily a successful capture; verify the image or PDF and the downstream action’s stored result.
ScreenshotAPI.net’s help page describes free-tier image retention of up to 30 days depending on TTL and paid-tier image retention for six months. These terms can change, so check the current help page and your plan before relying on stored captures for long-term records. Its pricing page has shown a seven-day trial with 100 screenshots and paid plans with differing monthly allowances and request-per-minute limits, but trial offers and plan terms are volatile. Verify current limits and pricing on the pricing page before estimating workflow cost.
