How to Stream Mobile Games on a PC

Stream a mobile game from your phone to PC software, capture compatible phone video with a card, broadcast directly from the phone, or run the game in an emulator.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You can stream mobile gameplay on a PC by sending the image and audio from your phone to desktop streaming software, or by running the game in an Android emulator on the PC. You do not need a capture card for every setup: it is one option for compatible phone video-output workflows, alongside software mirroring and network-based feeds. If you do not need PC scenes or overlays, broadcasting directly from the phone may be simpler.

Choose the route that matches your setup

Route Where the game runs What you need Best fit
Broadcast from the phone On your physical phone A supported mobile broadcasting app and a network connection You want the simplest setup and do not need PC scenes or overlays.
Mirror or send the phone feed to the PC On your physical phone A way to mirror the screen by cable or send an Android feed over the local network, plus PC streaming software You want to use the phone while managing the broadcast on a PC.
Capture card On your physical phone Compatible phone video output, suitable adapters and cables, a capture card, and PC streaming software Your phone can output video through a supported external connection and you want a hardware capture path.
Android emulator On the PC An Android emulator, such as BlueStacks, and PC streaming software You want to stream a compatible game running on the PC and do not need the physical phone to be the source.

The emulator route changes what viewers see: the game runs on the PC, not on your handset. The other routes use the physical phone. Official setup guidance from Twitch, Streamlabs, Elgato, and OBS describes these approaches, but it does not establish a controlled comparison of latency or image quality. Test the route with your particular phone, game, cable, adapters, and software rather than assuming one is universally fastest or clearest.

Option 1: Broadcast directly from your phone

Twitch documents game broadcasting in its Android and iOS apps. This avoids routing the phone through PC software, but it is not the right choice if your stream depends on a PC scene with overlays or on showing the game and a front- or rear-facing camera simultaneously; Twitch says its mobile game mode does not support overlays or broadcasting the game screen and a camera at the same time.

  1. Install and sign in to the supported streaming app on your phone, then open its game-broadcasting workflow. Follow its prompts for microphone permission and audio setup.
  2. Connect to Wi-Fi if possible. Twitch recommends Wi-Fi for performance and to reduce the chance of mobile data charges.
  3. Silence notifications or enable an appropriate Focus or Do Not Disturb mode. Anything visible on the phone screen may appear in the broadcast, so do not open private apps while live.
  4. Keep the phone awake while broadcasting. Twitch warns that a direct mobile stream ends if the device locks.
  5. Check the game and microphone audio before starting the broadcast. Make a short test where possible so you can confirm what viewers will hear.

Option 2: Send the physical phone’s feed to PC software

If you want PC-managed scenes, add a phone feed to desktop streaming software using a supported mirroring connection or network source. Twitch describes PC tools for people using a mobile cable and a way to mirror the screen on the computer. Streamlabs documents a local-network source for sending Android gameplay to desktop software. The exact compatibility and setup depend on your device and software versions; the documentation does not provide a complete current compatibility matrix.

Yojaro 4Pack Silicone Suction Phone Case Mount, Silicon Adhesive Smartphones Stand Sticky, Hands-Free Phone Accessories Holder for Selfies and Videos (Black & White & Translucent & Light Pink)
  • 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
  • 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
  • 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
  • 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
  • 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

Before connecting

  • Decide whether you will mirror by cable or send an Android feed over the local network. A LAN method requires the phone and PC to communicate over the network; it is not the same as a direct capture-card connection.
  • Check the current instructions for your chosen phone-mirroring app or desktop source. Confirm that your phone, operating system, game, and software are supported before planning a live broadcast.
  • Plan audio separately from video. Do not assume that mirroring carries internal game audio or microphone audio in the same way on every phone and route.

Set up and test the feed

  1. Install the chosen mirroring or LAN-source software on the phone and the required source or receiving software on the PC, following that product’s current setup instructions.
  2. Connect the phone and PC using the selected route. For a LAN source, make sure both devices can communicate on the local network; for a cable route, check the connection and any required phone permissions.
  3. In your PC streaming software, add the phone feed as a source using the workflow supported by the mirroring or LAN software. Place and size it in the scene as needed.
  4. Check the preview while playing. Verify that the picture updates, the game audio reaches the stream, and your microphone is captured if you intend to use one.
  5. Make a private or otherwise low-risk test before a public broadcast. If picture or sound is missing, check the source selection, permissions, connection, and audio routing before changing unrelated scene settings.

Option 3: Capture phone video with a capture card

A capture card is optional, not a universal requirement. This route only works if the exact phone can output video to an external display through a compatible port or adapter, and if the capture card and computer accept that connection. Elgato’s iPhone gameplay guidance also describes QuickTime over USB as a more practical gameplay option in its guide. Compatibility is model-specific: confirm the phone’s video output, port, adapter requirements, computer connections, and capture-card inputs together before buying hardware.

  1. Confirm that your phone model supports the external video-output method you plan to use. Check the required adapter and cable for that model.
  2. Confirm that the capture card accepts the output from the phone’s adapter and can connect to your computer. Do not assume that a phone connector alone guarantees video output.
  3. Connect the phone’s video output to the capture card, then connect the card to the PC as specified by its manufacturer.
  4. Add the capture card as a video source in your PC streaming software and check that the phone screen appears.
  5. Test game audio and microphone audio as separate parts of the setup. Confirm what is included in the captured feed and whether any additional audio source or routing is required.

QuickTime over USB and capture-card workflows are not interchangeable guarantees for every iPhone model or software version. Verify current compatibility and test the complete signal chain before you rely on it live.

Apple EarPods Headphones with USB-C Plug, Wired Ear Buds with Built-in Remote to Control Music, Phone Calls, and Volume
  • SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
  • HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
  • BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
  • COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
  • INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.

Option 4: Stream a game running in an Android emulator

With an emulator, the PC runs the game and desktop streaming software captures the PC display. Streamlabs documents a BlueStacks workflow with Streamlabs Desktop. This avoids using a physical phone and a phone capture connection, but it is only appropriate when the game is available and works in the emulator. It does not show gameplay taking place on your actual handset.

  1. Install an Android emulator such as BlueStacks and install the game within it, if the game supports that environment.
  2. Open the emulator and confirm that the game runs as expected before configuring the broadcast.
  3. In desktop streaming software, add the emulator window or display as the video source using the software’s current source workflow.
  4. Check that game audio and microphone audio are routed and monitored as intended, then make a test recording or test broadcast.

Check privacy, audio, and compatibility before going live

  • Privacy: For direct mobile broadcasting, notifications and anything else displayed on screen can be visible to viewers. Silence alerts and avoid opening private apps.
  • Power and screen state: A direct Twitch mobile game stream ends if the device locks, so keep it awake during the broadcast.
  • Audio: Test the game and microphone independently. Whether internal game audio passes through depends on the selected phone, app, operating system, and connection; it is not established as identical across all routes.
  • Connection: Twitch recommends Wi-Fi for its direct mobile broadcasts. For a LAN feed, confirm that the PC and phone can communicate over the local network. For a cable or capture-card route, check each physical connection.
  • Scenes and camera: Direct mobile broadcasting has limitations: Twitch says its mobile game mode lacks overlays and cannot broadcast the game screen and front- or rear-facing camera at the same time. Use a PC-based workflow if those controls are important.
  • App availability: OBS Studio itself is not offered as a mobile app in OBS Project’s mobile-app information, which lists third-party mobile streaming apps whose availability and features vary by platform and app.
  • Rights to stream: Check the game’s and any included music’s streaming rules, and do not broadcast content you lack permission to use. A technically working capture setup does not grant copyright permission.

Troubleshoot common failures

Symptom What to check
The PC preview is black or the phone feed is missing Confirm that the mirroring or LAN source is running, the correct source is selected in the PC software, required phone permissions are granted, and the phone-to-PC connection is active. With capture hardware, verify video output and adapter compatibility for the exact phone model.
The game is visible but there is no game audio Check the audio path for the chosen mirroring, LAN, or capture setup and confirm the correct audio source is selected. Test microphone audio separately; do not assume the game and mic share one route.
The LAN feed cannot reach the PC Check that both devices are on a network that allows them to communicate, and verify the source and receiver are running according to the current Streamlabs instructions. Network isolation or a changed connection can prevent local devices from finding one another.
A direct mobile stream stops unexpectedly Check whether the phone locked; Twitch says its direct mobile broadcast ends when the device locks. Keep the screen awake and check the network connection.
Private alerts appear on stream Enable Focus or Do Not Disturb and silence notifications before broadcasting. Anything visible on the phone screen can be streamed.
The capture card does not receive a picture Confirm that the phone supports external video output, that the adapter and cable are suitable for that model, and that the capture-card input and PC connection match the signal chain. A compatible-looking port by itself is not proof of video-output support.
The emulator route does not run the game correctly Check whether the game supports the emulator and whether it runs normally before opening the stream software. An emulator is a different game-running environment, not a way to capture the physical phone.
