Think of the service as the capture and history layer. To identify a meaningful change, compare snapshots yourself or configure a separate workflow that compares extracted text or images and decides whether to notify you. The vendor’s technical guide describes a diff-and-alert pattern; it does not mean every scheduled job automatically classifies changes or sends alerts.

Start with the evidence you need, then choose the capture mode and comparison method. Keep the URL set focused: monitoring only the relevant page or section makes the resulting history easier to inspect.

Set up a recurring capture
- Choose the exact URL. Decide whether you need the full page, one viewport, a localized rendering, or a particular dynamic section. Identify the specific evidence—such as a price or page layout—you will compare.
- Configure the capture in Query Builder. Enter the URL and select the output and capture options that match your goal. The vendor guide lists full-page capture, fresh renders, CSS, cookies, geolocation and timezone options. For dynamic pages, consider whether an interaction or other rendering setting is needed. - Choose the scheduled screenshot action and cadence. Set a documented preset—hourly, daily or weekly—or a custom cron schedule. Cron controls when recurring jobs run; choose an interval based on how quickly the page can change and how soon you need to know. Shorter intervals suit volatile or high-impact pages; slower-moving pages may need less frequent captures. These are planning guidelines, not a universal threshold or service guarantee.
- Activate and locate the job. Manage it in the dashboard’s Schedule Requests area. The documented job controls include Start, Stop, Delete and View Screenshots. Schedule documentation
- Review a new capture against an earlier one. Use the screenshot history for visual review, or compare extracted text if the target is a price, headline or other wording. Decide how to handle incidental differences—such as rotating content—before acting on a detected difference.
- Add an alert workflow if needed. Configure a separate script or workflow to compare the current result with a prior result and send a notification when your chosen condition is met. Select and validate a comparison rule for your page; the documentation does not set a universally correct diff threshold.
Choose a comparison and alert rule
For visual changes
Compare screenshots when the question is whether a page’s appearance or state changed. Review the page and capture settings first if a diff appears: changing content, incomplete loading or rendering differences may create visual changes that are not the event you care about.
For text changes
Extract the relevant text and compare it with the previous capture. A workflow can treat a changed price or headline as a notification condition, but it needs a defined target and rule. For search results
If the required answer is a numeric ranking position, use rank data alongside screenshots. The screenshot can show the rendered results page, but it is not a structured position history.
Pause, review, and preserve capture history
- Stop a job to pause future captures while retaining its job history.
- Use View Screenshots to inspect the stored captures.
- Download important captures before deleting a job. The schedule documentation says deleting a job permanently deletes its related screenshots.
The documentation supports storage and later review, but does not establish a fixed retention period, tamper-proof evidence, legal admissibility or uninterrupted monitoring. Do not rely on scheduled captures alone where those properties are required.
Troubleshooting missed or misleading changes
The target content is absent from a capture
Check that you are monitoring the correct URL and that the relevant section is visible in the rendered result. Dynamic content may need suitable timing, cookies or another rendering parameter; content behind an interaction may require a selector click. Test the setting against the real page. Visual diffs appear even though the page seems unchanged
Inspect the captures for dynamic elements and rendering variation, then decide whether to compare a more focused region or use text extraction for the specific content. Adjust the comparison workflow to the page rather than assuming one threshold fits all sites.

Confirm that a separate workflow compares captures and sends notifications. A recurring schedule supplies snapshots; the diff condition and alert destination must be configured outside that capture schedule.
A job no longer captures
Check the job’s status in Schedule Requests and use the documented controls to start or stop it as needed. Confirm that the schedule is the intended cron interval and inspect the most recent available screenshot.

You need to remove a job but keep records
Stop it rather than deleting it if you want to retain the job history. Download screenshots you need before deletion, because deleting the job removes its related screenshots.
