YouTube end screens appear in the closing seconds of an eligible video—not during an ongoing live broadcast. To guide people from a 24/7 stream to another video, first check whether YouTube has created an editable video archive of the stream. If it has, you can add a video or playlist end-screen element in YouTube Studio. If the broadcast is still running, an end screen is not a way to overlay a destination on it.
Can an end screen appear on a 24/7 live stream?
YouTube describes end screens as elements added to the final 5–20 seconds of a video; the video must be at least 25 seconds long. They are designed for a video’s ending, not as an overlay during an active live broadcast. YouTube’s end-screen guidance does not establish that an end screen can appear while a 24/7 stream is still live.

YouTube says live streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not explain whether or how a continuous 24/7 broadcast is divided into archives, or whether a particular resulting archive can receive an end screen. Check the stream entry and any resulting video in YouTube Studio. Use the end-screen workflow below only if there is an eligible video to edit. YouTube’s encoder guidance covers the under-12-hour archive rule.

- In YouTube Studio, open Content and select the eligible archived or uploaded video.
- Open Editor > End screen.
- Add a Video element to feature a specific follow-up video, let YouTube choose a video suited to the viewer, or feature your most recent upload. To direct viewers to a collection, add a Playlist element.
- Place the element within the final 5–20 seconds. Adjust its timing and position, then preview the video to check how the ending looks.
- Save your changes. Use a spoken or visual call to action that accurately describes the destination—for example, invite viewers to watch the next part if that is where the element leads.
For a standard 16:9 video, YouTube permits up to four end-screen elements. Options also include a subscribe element, channel promotion, and—in eligible cases—an external website link for creators in the YouTube Partner Program. You can use a template or arrange elements individually. The player may hide or display end screens differently depending on context, device, viewer behavior, or YouTube’s decisions; viewers can also hide them. They are unavailable in some apps and formats and cannot be used on videos set as Made for Kids. Check the current end-screen requirements and limitations before relying on a particular display.

Choose the route that matches when you want to send viewers onward

Live Redirect is a separate stream-ending option, not an end-screen element for people watching a continuing 24/7 broadcast. If the goal is to hand viewers off as a stream ends, YouTube’s Live Redirect guide explains the conditions. It recommends setting up the Premiere first and telling viewers to wait a few seconds for the screen to reload.
Check whether viewers use the end screen
After viewers have had time to reach the ending, review the video’s end-screen element click-rate in the Engagement tab in YouTube Analytics. Channel reports also let you compare element types and videos. Use what you observe to decide whether to change the destination, timing, or layout; YouTube does not promise a particular increase in views from adding an end screen.
