To use it, open Pre-recorded livestream → Playlist, add and order videos, preview or schedule the playlist, then enable YouTube as the destination for the event.
What a Restream playlist can—and cannot—do
A playlist is a scheduled prerecorded broadcast: Restream plays the videos in sequence at the scheduled time. Restream’s playlist documentation lists a limit of 24 hours and 40 video entries. It does not support looping, so a playlist is not a permanent 24/7 stream. Restream’s playlist guide describes the feature and its limits.

You can repeat videos by adding them again in the desired order—for example, A, B, C, A, B, C—but duplicates count toward the 40-entry cap. This can extend a scheduled program, not make it endless. Restream says that consecutive playlists are separate streams with a two-minute buffer between them, rather than one seamless broadcast. Its scheduling guide covers scheduled streams.
How to create and schedule a playlist
- Open the playlist builder. From Restream’s home screen, choose Pre-recorded livestream, then Playlist. You can reopen a previous playlist for reuse.
- Add the videos. Select videos already available in Restream or upload files, then select Next.
- Set the order. Drag clips into the sequence you want. Use Add Video to add more files or a countdown. Check the total number of entries, including any duplicates, against the 40-entry limit.
- Customize the presentation. Add any available designs, captions or QR codes that suit the program.
- Preview or schedule. Preview the playlist, or select Schedule and choose when it should go live. Restream says scheduled playlists start automatically at the chosen time.
- Create the YouTube event. When setting up the event, choose Playlist as the format, enter the event details and enable the connected YouTube destination. Restream’s guides explain creating a YouTube Live event and creating a playlist.
Limits to account for before scheduling

Arrange, add or remove videos before the playlist goes live. Restream says that once the broadcast has started, you can edit graphics and chat, but not the video sequence.

Repeating a single video is a different format
Restream separately documents looping an individual prerecorded video up to 10 times, for a maximum stream of 40 hours. That applies to a video event, not a playlist; do not assume a playlist inherits the individual-video loop option. See Restream’s guide to looping a prerecorded video.
Back-to-back playlists have a gap
Scheduling another playlist after one ends does not turn them into an uninterrupted broadcast. Restream describes the playlists as separate streams with a two-minute buffer between them.

Playlist access, library capacity and resolution
Restream’s playlist page says the feature requires a purchased Upload & Stream add-on tier. Its guide, published July 25, 2026, lists the following figures; they are documentation figures, not independently verified checkout terms, and plan details may change. Confirm the current plan information before buying.

Compare the library capacity with the total duration of the files you plan to keep available, and check that the maximum resolution fits your delivery needs. The cited plan details do not establish comparative reliability or viewer experience.

Check YouTube access before the scheduled start
Restream says YouTube live streaming must be enabled for the channel and that the connected user must own the channel, not merely manage or edit it. Its activation guide says a new channel must verify a phone number and wait 24 hours before its first livestream. Complete activation before scheduling, and confirm that you are connecting as the channel owner. See Restream’s YouTube streaming guide and activation instructions.
Stream settings and archives
For YouTube encoder streams, Restream’s guide reproduces these recommended settings: H.264 video; 240p–2160p; 3,000–40,000 Kbps depending on resolution and frame rate; up to 60 fps; CBR; a recommended two-second keyframe interval, with four seconds as the maximum; AAC or MP3 audio; 128 Kbps stereo or 384 Kbps 5.1 audio; and 44.1 kHz stereo or 48 kHz 5.1 sample rate. These are recommendations as reported by Restream, not a substitute for checking YouTube’s current requirements for your specific setup.

Restream’s YouTube guide also says YouTube has no stream-duration limit but archives only streams under 12 hours. Treat that as Restream’s account of YouTube behavior, not a verified guarantee from YouTube: archive availability is separate from whether a playlist can air, and a stream longer than 12 hours should not be assumed to have a complete archive. Use Restream playlists when scheduled blocks of prerecorded programming are enough—for example, a one-off program or a finite sequence of videos. The caps, lack of playlist looping and buffer between separate playlists make the feature unsuitable if your requirement is one uninterrupted stream that keeps repeating content around the clock.
