The exact prompts and available features depend on the device’s operating system.
Before you start
- Create or sign in to a My Kaspersky account; it connects the child’s device and profile with the parent’s controls.
- Have the child’s device and the account used on it available during setup.
- On Windows, ensure the device has internet access. Kaspersky says internet access is required to install, use, and update Safe Kids.
- On Windows, separate operating-system accounts for each child help Safe Kids apply settings based on the right child profile. Kaspersky recommends separate Windows accounts for children.
Install and set up Safe Kids on a computer
Windows
- Download and install Kaspersky Safe Kids on the child’s computer, or on a family computer the child uses. The installer opens the Setup Assistant when installation finishes; follow its prompts. A restart may be required. See Kaspersky’s Windows installation guide.
- Sign in to My Kaspersky, or register if you do not already have an account, then add the child’s profile or select an existing one.
- Enter the child’s details, including age, and assign the Windows account the child uses. The age informs the default settings.
- If multiple children use the computer, create a separate Windows account for each child and assign each account to the matching profile. A shared Windows account makes it harder for the app to apply the right child’s settings.
Mac
- Install Safe Kids and grant the permissions requested during setup.
- Connect the app to My Kaspersky, then add or select the child’s profile.
- Select the Mac account the child uses.
- If FileVault is enabled, Kaspersky says you may need to allow Safe Kids to decrypt files in the child’s account so that account is available after a restart. Follow the current on-screen instructions.
See Kaspersky’s Mac setup guide for its documented steps.

Set up the parent’s phone
The parent app is for managing protection and receiving information; it is not a substitute for configuring Safe Kids on the child’s device.
- Install and open Kaspersky Safe Kids on the parent’s phone.
- Review and accept the applicable legal documents shown in the app.
- Connect the app to the same My Kaspersky account used for the child’s profile.
- Choose the parent-device role, then create or enter the app access code when prompted.
Kaspersky’s documented overview says the parent app can show device location, send activity alerts, let you configure protection settings, and display activity summaries. More detailed reports are available through My Kaspersky. See the parent mobile setup instructions and the feature overview.

Set up Safe Kids on the child’s phone or tablet
- Install and open Safe Kids on the child’s device, and choose the child setup flow.
- Connect to My Kaspersky and add or select the child profile linked to that device.
- Grant the permissions requested by the app. On Android, Kaspersky’s documented setup includes accessibility and overlay or system permissions.
- Check that the device permits Safe Kids notifications. Android settings can prevent app notifications from appearing.
- For some Huawei and Xiaomi devices, Kaspersky’s instructions call for enabling automatic restart. Follow the prompts for the device and app versions you have rather than assuming every model uses the same settings.
Use the on-device prompts and Kaspersky’s child-device setup guide for the permissions and steps applicable to your device.
Understand platform differences before relying on a feature
Safe Kids features are not necessarily identical across child-device platforms. Kaspersky’s feature overview lists app-use monitoring for Android and Safe Browser for iOS, and also describes device-use duration monitoring and location. The overview was last reviewed on September 10, 2019, so it does not establish that every listed feature is currently available in every region or app version. Check current Kaspersky support information for your device before relying on a specific control.

Where to change settings and view activity
Use the parent app to adjust protection settings and view the activity summaries it provides. For detailed reports, sign in to My Kaspersky with the account linked during setup. If the child’s device or activity is missing, first confirm that the device is connected to that account and assigned to the correct child profile and, on computers, the correct operating-system account.
