In Apple Podcasts on iPhone, change playback speed from the episode’s Now Playing screen. To change how many seconds the skip buttons move, open Settings > Apps > Podcasts and adjust Back or Forward. Apple’s documented defaults are 15 seconds back and 30 seconds forward.
Change playback speed for an episode

Open Apple Podcasts and start an episode.

Tap the MiniPlayer at the bottom of the screen to open the Now Playing screen.

Tap the Playback Speed control, which may show the current rate, then choose a speed from the menu. Apple also documents swiping the speed control left or right; in some player views, you can touch and hold it, then slide to select a speed. See Apple’s iPhone playback guide.

Set a different speed for one show
If you want a particular followed show to play at a different rate from other shows, set its speed separately:

In Podcasts, go to Library > Shows and select a followed show.

Tap More > Settings, then scroll to Speed & Audio Adjustments.

Choose Custom for This Show and select the speed you want. This section also has the show’s Enhance Dialogue setting, which you can turn on or off. See Apple’s show settings guide.

Change how far the skip buttons jump
Adjust the rewind and fast-forward durations independently in iPhone Settings—not in the episode’s speed menu.

Open the iPhone Settings app.

Tap Apps > Podcasts.

Tap Back to change the skip-back duration, or Forward to change the skip-forward duration, then choose an available setting. Apple documents defaults of 15 seconds back and 30 seconds forward; the available choices are shown in the respective menus. See Apple’s iPhone guide.
Which setting should you change?

For faster or slower listening, use Playback Speed in Now Playing.

For a different listening rate on a particular followed show, use that show’s settings.

To change the duration of the skip-back or skip-forward buttons, use the separate Back and Forward controls under Settings > Apps > Podcasts.

The labels and player layout can vary across iOS versions. If you do not see a speed control, open the full Now Playing screen from the MiniPlayer. For skip intervals, go directly to the Back or Forward menu rather than relying on a list of options described for a different iOS version.

When connected to CarPlay, playback can be controlled using the car’s controls, the Now Playing screen, or the CarPlay Dashboard. These are playback controls; Apple’s documented route for changing skip durations remains the iPhone’s Settings app. See Apple’s CarPlay playback guide.
