For Hindi and other Indic-language pages, use it to compare real rendered UI states across selected browsers and viewports—but do not treat its screenshots as a guarantee of correct script shaping or glyph coverage. The reviewed Happo documentation describes general browser and font-aware capture behavior, not a dedicated Indic-language mode.
What Happo can—and cannot—check for Indic-language pages
Visual regression testing captures a page or component and compares the result with a baseline. A diff can reveal changes in text placement, wrapping, spacing, typography, and other visible details that functional assertions may not catch. Happo documents integrations for Playwright, Cypress, and Storybook, plus browser and responsive viewport options. Playwright integration, Cypress integration, and Storybook integration.

Happo says its documented Playwright and Cypress flows wait for fonts and assets and suppress animations to reduce unstable captures. That helps make comparisons more repeatable; it does not establish that a particular Hindi font loaded correctly, that every glyph is available, or that shaping is linguistically correct. Confirm those properties in your actual page and review the rendered output.

Storybook for component states
Use Storybook when you want to compare isolated components and their variants—for example, a navigation item, form error, button, or long heading. Happo describes capturing stories across real browsers and viewports, with CI review links and visual-diff tools.

Playwright or Cypress for routed pages and flows
Use a browser-test integration when the relevant layout depends on a route, application state, or interaction. Capture representative page states such as a form with validation errors, a populated table, or a responsive navigation menu. Happo documents CI runs and browser/viewport support for these workflows. Cypress also documents a configurable color-delta tolerance.
Pick representative Indic-language content
Include the actual Hindi or other target-script text used by the product. Exercise short and long strings, mixed-script labels where relevant, and content likely to wrap, truncate, or change component height. This is a test-design recommendation, not a Happo-prescribed Indic corpus.

Build a reliable visual regression workflow
- Select pages and states. Include the UI areas where text geometry matters: navigation, headings, buttons, forms, error messages, tables, and responsive layouts. Use Storybook for component states or Playwright/Cypress for pages and interactive flows.
- Use production-representative text and fonts. Test real content rather than placeholder Latin text. Check that the page requests and applies the intended font resources before you accept a capture as representative.
- Wait for the page to settle. Happo says its Playwright and Cypress workflows wait for fonts and assets and silence animations. App-specific content may still need deliberate setup—for example, ensuring a route is fully populated before the screenshot is taken.
- Run the checks in CI. Review the resulting before-and-after diffs as part of the change workflow. Treat a diff as a prompt to inspect, not as an automatic diagnosis of whether a language-specific rendering change is correct.
- Cover relevant browsers and viewport sizes. Happo’s integration pages list Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and iOS Safari, and describe responsive viewport captures. Choose the combinations that matter to your audience; this is not an Indic-specific test matrix.
- Review accessibility separately. Happo offers accessibility regression checks alongside visual testing or as a standalone suite. Accessibility results complement screenshot review; they do not prove that glyphs or script shaping look correct. See Happo accessibility checks.
How to interpret diffs and validate actual rendering
When a Hindi or other Indic-language screenshot changes, inspect the page itself as well as the diff. Ask whether the intended font loaded, whether text wraps or clips unexpectedly, whether line height and component sizing remain usable, and whether the result is consistent in the selected browser and viewport. A screenshot comparison can expose visible regressions, but it cannot establish linguistic correctness or verify every font’s glyph coverage on its own.
Keep the test matrix tied to your users’ real browser, operating-system, font, and viewport combinations. The documented browser list is a set of available options, not a guarantee for every device or script configuration.

Where ScreenshotNeo fits
Happo is the relevant option here when you want visual regression integrated with Playwright, Cypress, or Storybook and a CI diff-review workflow. If you instead need a standalone screenshot API or an AI-agent screenshot tool, try ScreenshotNeo first: it removes cookie/consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; only clean shots are billed; and it offers an MCP server for AI agents. It is a screenshot capture alternative, not a substitute for Happo’s baseline-and-diff workflow.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo takes a screenshot through one GET request. cURL example (see the ScreenshotNeo API documentation):
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. An MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month, no card required.
