Can you add an end screen to an active 24/7 stream?
No—not through the documented end-screen workflow. YouTube’s instructions place end-screen editing in the Studio Editor for videos. The end screen appears at the end of a video, so for a 24/7 stream the relevant target is its completed archive, not the live broadcast itself.

YouTube’s public guidance does not confirm that every continuous-stream archive exposes end-screen editing, nor does it explain how a long-running broadcast is divided into archives. Open the particular archive in Studio and check whether the Editor includes an End screen control. If it does not, the documented instructions provide no universal workaround for adding one to that archive.

How to add a Subscribe end screen to an eligible archive
- Open the archive: In YouTube Studio, select Content, then open the completed stream archive you want to edit.
- Check for the editor: Open Editor and look for End screen. If the control is absent, do not assume there is a separate hidden setting for 24/7 streams.
- Add a subscription prompt: Choose End screen and add a Subscribe element. You can pair it with a relevant video, a video selected by YouTube, your latest upload, or a public playlist to give viewers a next step.
- Set timing and placement: Position the elements in the video’s ending and make sure they do not compete with important content. YouTube recommends featuring elements relevant to the video, using calls to action, and leaving enough space and time at the end.
- Preview and save: Preview the ending, save your changes, then check the archive’s playback to confirm the end screen appears as intended.
End-screen requirements and viewer limits
- Minimum length: The video must be at least 25 seconds long.
- Timing: End-screen elements appear during the final 5–20 seconds.
- Element count: A standard 16:9 video can have up to four elements. Other aspect ratios may have a lower limit.
- Made for Kids: End screens are unavailable on videos set as Made for Kids.
- Playback context: Viewers may not see end screens in mobile web (except iPad mobile web), the YouTube Music or YouTube Kids apps, Flash videos, or 360 videos. Viewers can also hide them, and YouTube may change whether or how they appear based on performance, viewer behavior, device, and context.
Available element types include a video, playlist, Subscribe, Channel, and—if you are in the YouTube Partner Program—an external website. External links must comply with YouTube policies. For subscriber growth, make the Subscribe prompt clear and choose any companion video or playlist as a relevant continuation of the stream’s subject.

Choose elements that fit the stream
There is no documented combination that works best for every channel. Pick elements according to what the archive covers and what you want viewers to do next:
- Prioritize subscribers: Include the Subscribe element.
- Continue the same topic: Feature a related video or playlist rather than an unrelated promotion.
- Offer a general next step: Consider the latest upload or a video selected by YouTube if it makes sense for the viewer.
YouTube’s guidance is to feature elements relevant to the video. A click on an end-screen element is an interaction, not proof that the viewer subscribed.

Measure clicks without mistaking them for subscribers
In YouTube Studio Analytics, the Engagement report includes End screen element click rate. Google defines this metric as clicks on end-screen elements divided by impressions. Use it to compare the performance of elements or destinations, then separately check whether channel subscriptions change. The click-rate metric itself does not measure subscriber conversion, and YouTube’s cited guidance does not establish a particular subscriber increase from adding end screens to 24/7 stream archives.
When the goal is a live handoff
An end screen is for the ending of a video. If you want to send viewers from a live broadcast that is ending to a Premiere or another live stream, YouTube documents Live Redirect as a separate feature. The sending creator must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes to meet the stated eligibility requirements. Check YouTube’s current feature guidance before planning a handoff.
