Motorola lists the Razr 60 Ultra—the 2025 Razr Ultra in some markets—as expected to receive Android 17, but that does not mean the update is available on every handset now. Check your phone’s update screen; rollout timing can differ by country, software channel, carrier approval, and partner testing. Android 17’s documented additions include privacy changes, app bubbles, cross-device handoff support, and changes to app behavior, but the Android documentation does not confirm that every feature has a Razr-specific control or works in every app.
How to get Android 17 on your Motorola Razr Ultra
Motorola’s India support listing says the Razr 60 Ultra is expected to receive Android 17, subject to partner approval where required. This is evidence of model-family eligibility, not confirmation that the update is available for every country, carrier, or software variant. Check the Motorola support page for your region and the update screen on your phone. Motorola Razr 60 Ultra support

- To check the installed version, open Settings > About phone > Device details > Android version.
- To look for Android 17, open Settings > System updates > Check for updates.
- If an update is offered, follow the on-screen instructions. Motorola recommends using Wi-Fi to avoid mobile data charges.
These menu paths are from Motorola’s Razr Ultra 2025 user guide. The update may not appear at the same time for everyone: Motorola says timing can depend on the model, region, distribution channel, carrier certification, and partner testing. Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 user guide

What Android 17 features to look for
The features below are described in Google’s Android 17 documentation. They explain platform capabilities, not confirmed Razr-specific settings or guarantees that every app supports them. After installing Android 17, check the phone and the apps you use to see which behaviors are available. Android 17 release notes
App bubbles for multitasking
Android 17 Beta 2 release notes describe an option to bubble any app by long-pressing its launcher icon. Bubbles let supported conversations or app activities remain accessible in a floating window while you use another app. On large-screen devices, the notes also describe a bubble bar in the taskbar; they do not establish that this interface applies to the Razr’s displays. The exact controls on a Motorola phone may differ.

- Universal unlocked: Compatible with all major U.S. carriers, including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and other prepaid carriers.
A more limited Contacts Picker
The system-level Contacts Picker lets an app access selected contact fields for a session, rather than requiring broad access to your contacts. This can reduce unnecessary exposure of your address book. Whether you see the picker depends on how an app requests contact information; it is not necessarily a Motorola setting you switch on.
Cross-device handoff depends on app support
Android 17 documents a Handoff API that apps can use to let you resume activity on another device through CompanionDeviceManager. This is a capability for app developers, not a universal handoff feature built into every app. Android’s documentation does not establish a Razr setting that enables it for unsupported apps.

- Most capable external display in class. Interact seamlessly with apps and Live notifications without having to open your phone on a smooth, responsive 4.0" display.
Permission for local-network access
Android 17 adds an ACCESS_LOCAL_NETWORK permission in the NEARBY_DEVICES permission group. Apps that communicate with devices on your local network may need this permission. The release notes do not specify a Razr-specific menu path, so look for a permission prompt or the app’s permissions in Settings after the update.
Delayed app access to SMS one-time passwords
Android 17’s release notes say programmatic access to SMS one-time-password messages is delayed by three hours for most apps. Google points developers to SMS Retriever or SMS User Consent as alternatives. This is a platform security behavior, not a switch for users to enable; it may affect how an app retrieves a code automatically.

Adaptive layouts and app compatibility
For apps targeting API 37 on large screens of at least 600 dp, Android 17 removes certain developer opt-outs for orientation and resizing. This is primarily a compatibility change for app developers. It does not guarantee that every app will display or resize perfectly on the Razr’s inner and cover screens, and it is not a user-facing toggle.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhy Android 17 may not show up on your Razr
- Your regional or carrier release may not be ready. Motorola says rollout timing can depend on region, distribution channel, carrier certification, and partner testing.
- The eligibility listing is not a release notice. Motorola’s India page lists the Razr 60 Ultra as expected to receive Android 17, but it does not establish availability for every country or SKU.
- Google’s Pixel rollout is separate. Google’s June 2026 announcement described availability on supported Pixel devices first; it does not confirm when Motorola will update a Razr.
Use the update check on the phone and your country’s Motorola support page for the status that applies to your device. Do not assume a missing update means the handset is ineligible, and do not infer a release date from the Pixel rollout.

What is confirmed—and what to verify on the phone
| Question | What the available support says | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Is the Razr 60 Ultra expected to get Android 17? | Motorola’s India support listing says it is expected, pending partner approval if required. | Check your regional Motorola support page and your handset’s update screen. |
| Are the listed Android 17 capabilities Razr-specific? | No. Google’s release notes document Android platform features and developer behavior. | After updating, check the actual interface and permissions on your device and in your apps. |
| Will every app support bubbles, handoff, or adaptive layouts? | The cited documentation does not say that every app will support these capabilities. | Availability and behavior can depend on the app and how its developer implements the platform features. |
Motorola markets this family as Razr Ultra 2025 in some markets and Razr 60 Ultra in others. Regional software, update timing, and menus should not be assumed identical across devices sold simply as “Razr Ultra.”
