To send a Gurbani video feed to YouTube, open YouTube Studio → Create → Go Live, copy the stream URL and key from Live Control Room into your encoder, start the encoder, then check the preview and go live. A reusable key and encoder-controlled auto-start can simplify repeat broadcasts, but they do not guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 operation. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; its guidance does not promise an archive for longer streams.
Before you set up the stream
Confirm that the channel is ready and that the Gurbani recording may legally be rebroadcast. YouTube’s current guidance requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days; first-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours. These requirements make it sensible to activate and test the channel well before the intended broadcast.

- Check eligibility: verify the channel and confirm it has no live-streaming restrictions within the last 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
- Check recording rights: religious or devotional subject matter does not itself establish permission to rebroadcast a particular recording. Get permission from the relevant rights holder and follow YouTube policies.
- Plan continuity: decide who will monitor the broadcast, how the encoder will recover from power or internet interruptions, and whether you need a separate recording. YouTube’s under-12-hour archive guidance is not an archive guarantee for a longer stream.
Create or schedule a YouTube live stream
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
- For an immediate setup, use the Stream tab in Live Control Room. To prepare a future broadcast, use Manage → Schedule stream. A scheduled stream can be promoted and viewers can set reminders.
- Review the stream’s privacy setting—public, private, or unlisted. YouTube notes that defaults vary by age, so check the setting rather than assuming it.
- In Live Control Room, copy both the stream URL and stream key. The URL is the encoder’s destination; the key identifies the stream YouTube should accept. YouTube describes stream keys as like a password and address, so keep the key private.
Enter the key in your encoder and go live
- Open your software or hardware encoder and choose its YouTube destination if one is available. Otherwise, paste the copied stream URL into the server or RTMP field and the key into the stream-key field.
- Set the encoder’s video and audio input to the Gurbani recording or playlist you intend to broadcast. Confirm the video and audio are playing in the encoder before starting.
- Start sending the feed from the encoder. Wait for it to appear in the Live Control Room preview, then check the image, audio, and stream-health messages.
- For a scheduled stream, click Go live in Live Control Room when the preview is ready. Check the public watch page and, where relevant, mobile playback before relying on the stream.
YouTube recommends setting up an encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes beforehand. Test with audio and movement similar to the actual broadcast, and monitor stream health and audio/video quality during the event. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide and live-streaming tips.
Choose encoder settings that match your connection
Use YouTube’s current settings table for the codec, resolution, frame rate, and upload capacity you actually plan to use. Its guidance supports RTMP/RTMPS with H.264, H.265 (HEVC), or AV1, up to 60 fps, constant bitrate, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. For stereo audio, YouTube recommends AAC or MP3 at 128 kbps and a 44.1 kHz sample rate.

These are YouTube’s published figures for the stated H.264 examples, not a guarantee that a particular connection will sustain them. Choose a bitrate your upload connection can maintain steadily; check YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions when configuring the encoder because recommendations and supported formats can change.
Reuse a key for repeat broadcasts
You can create a custom stream key in Live Control Room and reuse it for later broadcasts, avoiding the need to set up a new key each time. YouTube’s stream settings also include auto-start and auto-stop, which let an operator start or stop a stream from the encoder. They control the start/stop workflow; they do not ensure that a feed stays online if the encoder, computer, power, or network fails.

Keep the Gurbani stream continuous—and understand the archive limit
A YouTube stream key connects an encoder to YouTube; it is not, by itself, a 24/7 playback service. A computer-based encoder depends on the computer, the encoder, power, and a stable upload connection remaining available. Hardware and software encoders can both be used, but YouTube’s guidance does not establish one universally best option. Compare support for YouTube’s ingestion settings, recovery after interruption, monitoring, and whether you need a local recording.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. The cited guidance does not establish automatic archiving for streams that run longer than 12 hours, so do not rely on an archive as the only copy of a long broadcast. Plan separate recording and continuity arrangements if needed.
Troubleshoot common stream-key and playback problems
- Encoder says the key is invalid: copy the key again from Live Control Room and paste it into the encoder’s stream-key field. If the issue remains, generate a new key and update the encoder. Follow YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting steps.
- The key may have been exposed: reset it in Studio → Go Live → Stream → Stream key → Reset, then replace the old key in the encoder. YouTube says only a channel owner or manager can reset the key.
- No preview appears: check that the encoder is sending to the stream URL from the correct Live Control Room stream and that the matching key is entered. Confirm the encoder has started transmitting, then inspect its connection status and YouTube’s stream-health messages.
- Preview works but the scheduled stream is not public: check the privacy setting and, for a scheduled broadcast, select Go live in Live Control Room after the preview arrives.
- Video stutters or audio drops: compare the encoder’s bitrate and format with YouTube’s current recommendations and the upload connection’s sustained capacity. Test the whole feed before the broadcast and monitor stream health while it is live.
- The stream stops after a local interruption: check the encoder, computer or hardware, power, and internet connection. A reusable key and auto-start/auto-stop can help with workflow, but do not restart a failed feed on their own unless the encoder or another recovery system is configured to do so.
