Some URLs can fail independently, remain queued, or have a screenshot that has not yet been downloaded—even when the bulk request itself was accepted. Compare the submitted list with per-URL results, job status, and actual output files before retrying the entire batch.
Start by checking what the batch actually returned
A successful batch submission does not necessarily mean every URL became an image file. Services can report results separately for each URL, process work asynchronously, or return image links that still need to be fetched. Local screenshot commands may also skip files that already exist.

- Count the URLs you submitted and compare that count with the manifest or per-URL results.
- Separate completed, failed, pending, and processing items. If the job is asynchronous, poll until it reaches a terminal state.
- For every missing item, record its input URL, any final URL shown, status or error, and expected output filename.
- Check whether the screenshot was executed and whether returned image links or an archive still need to be downloaded.
These behaviors vary by tool. For example, ScreenshotOne’s bulk documentation describes per-request results and lazy execution by default; url2image’s documentation describes a batch ID, polling, and ZIP download; and shot-scraper’s documentation describes local CLI options. Check the documentation for the exact product and version you run.

One URL failed while the others succeeded
Some services capture batch URLs independently, so one failure does not stop successful captures from being returned. SnapshotFlow documents per-URL failures such as malformed or non-HTTP URLs, blocked private or loopback addresses, timeouts, navigation errors, rate limiting, and exhausted browser capacity. Inspect the result attached to each missing URL rather than treating an accepted batch as proof of complete success: SnapshotFlow batch documentation.

- A BETTER READING EXPERIENCE: For busy office workers, EasyRead mode provides a more paper-like experience for when viewing lengthy documents
The service hit a concurrency or rate limit
Check per-item response bodies and error codes. ScreenshotOne’s bulk example includes concurrency_limit_reached. Reduce simultaneous work or wait for capacity, then retry only the affected items: ScreenshotOne bulk documentation.
The batch is still processing, or the results were not collected
A queued job can leave the output directory looking incomplete until processing finishes and results are retrieved. url2image’s documented workflow returns a batch ID to poll and then a ZIP to download. Confirm both terminal job status and successful download before comparing the number of files with the number of inputs: url2image documentation.

A screenshot link exists, but no image file has been fetched
Some APIs return screenshot URLs rather than writing files into your folder. ScreenshotOne documents lazy bulk requests: the screenshot is taken when the returned URL is downloaded unless execute is enabled to execute requests ahead of time. Count fetched files, not just returned links: ScreenshotOne bulk documentation.
The capture service cannot reach the page or needs authentication
Public access and network restrictions matter. url2image says it renders public HTTP/HTTPS hosts and refuses private, loopback, and link-local addresses. SnapshotFlow also lists blocked addresses and navigation failures. For a protected page, a capture may fail or show a login/access page; shot-scraper documents an authenticated browser-context workflow. Test one missing URL in the same tool and inspect the resulting page and status rather than assuming it produced the intended screenshot: url2image documentation, SnapshotFlow batch documentation, and shot-scraper documentation.

The page did not load before the timeout
A slow or client-rendered page may need a longer timeout or a condition that waits for the relevant content. shot-scraper supports a timeout and per-page wait or wait_for settings; SnapshotFlow documents a timeout error. If the tool supports it, wait for a selector that signals the page is ready. A generic delay will not fix blocked navigation or missing authentication: shot-scraper documentation and SnapshotFlow batch documentation.
The local command skipped an existing output file
In shot-scraper 0.14.2, --no-clobber skips a screenshot when its destination already exists. Check the expected output names, timestamps, and whether that option is enabled. The CLI’s --fail-on-error option can make a multi-shot command report item errors more visibly. These behaviors are specific to the documented shot-scraper version: shot-scraper documentation.

Retry only after identifying the failure
- Correct malformed URLs or unsupported schemes, and check whether the destination is publicly reachable from the capture service.
- Resolve required authentication using the tool’s supported method.
- Adjust a timeout or readiness condition only when the page is slow or renders content late.
- Reduce concurrency or wait for capacity when the returned error indicates a limit.
- Poll unfinished jobs and fetch returned images or archives before resubmitting work.
- For local commands, review output naming and skip/overwrite flags; rerun one failed URL with error reporting enabled.
- Preserve the original URL-to-output mapping so similar URLs are not confused during retries.
Batch limits are product-specific, not universal. The cited url2image documentation gives a maximum of 500 URLs per batch and a 2 MB uploaded list; SnapshotFlow documents up to 10 URLs per batch. Check the current documentation for the service you use before splitting a list or changing its payload: url2image documentation and SnapshotFlow batch documentation.
