The small size of the computer does not prove it can do the job: OBS warns that meeting its compatibility requirements does not guarantee that a system can stream or record. Test your complete setup for an extended period before relying on it.
This guide covers the do-it-yourself mini PC setup, YouTube’s live-stream requirements, video and network settings, rights for devotional recordings, and common failure points. No particular mini PC model has been tested or endorsed here.

What you need for a continuous stream
A mini PC running an encoder is one way to keep a pre-recorded devotional video and audio live on YouTube. The encoder sends the feed; YouTube hosts the live stream. For a dependable setup, you need more than a compatible computer:
- A YouTube channel eligible to go live.
- A mini PC that can sustain your selected encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity.
- An encoder such as OBS, configured to send video and audio to YouTube.
- Reliable outbound internet bandwidth with room for fluctuations and other network use.
- The necessary rights for every recording, composition, image, and other piece of content in the stream.
A simple still image with devotional audio may put a different load on an encoder than a multi-scene production, but that is not a guarantee that any particular mini PC will manage it. OBS says performance depends on the encoder, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity. Its System Requirements page, published August 25, 2021, also cautions: “Having a compatible system does not guarantee that it is capable of streaming or recording using OBS Studio.”

Set up the mini PC and encoder
1. Check YouTube live-stream eligibility early
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before your planned start. Check the channel’s live-stream access in YouTube Studio rather than waiting until the day you want to begin.
2. Install and test an encoder
Install OBS on an operating system supported by the OBS version you intend to use. Its Auto-Configuration Wizard can provide a starting point, but treat its result as a starting configuration—not proof that the computer can run nonstop. Confirm that the mini PC’s hardware supports the encoder option you plan to select, then test that exact option, resolution, and frame rate.
Keep the production as simple as your channel needs. Before leaving it unattended, run a prolonged test and check for dropped frames, rising temperatures, audio interruptions, and unexpected stops. These are practical checks; they are not a tested performance guarantee for a specific device. Plan for what happens if the mini PC or network fails: a single computer and connection do not provide an uptime guarantee. YouTube’s live-streaming tips describe testing a backup encoder by stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet connection and checking whether the player rolls over.

3. Configure the video and audio
YouTube’s encoder guidance supports RTMP or RTMPS delivery; H.264, H.265 (HEVC), or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; and constant bitrate (CBR). Use settings supported by both your encoder hardware and YouTube’s current guidance. For a first test, prioritize a stable signal over choosing the highest available resolution.

The 5 Mbps figure is for video alone. It does not include audio or the additional upload capacity YouTube recommends leaving available. If your devotional visuals do not need 1080p at 30 fps, a lower resolution or frame rate may be suitable, but choose it based on the picture you want and verify that it remains stable on your actual hardware and connection. Do not assume a mini PC supports a particular codec through hardware encoding without checking.

4. Make sure the connection has enough upload capacity
Check outbound upload bandwidth, not just download speed. YouTube advises that the total stream bitrate must fit within available upload bandwidth and recommends 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. Other devices or applications sharing the connection can reduce what is available to the stream, and a network interruption can break it.
For example, if you use YouTube’s recommended 5 Mbps H.264 video setting for 1080p at 30 fps, account for audio bitrate and the recommended headroom as well. Five Mbps is not the internet plan speed required for the entire stream. Test while the network is being used as it normally will be, and reduce competing traffic if the stream is unstable. A wired connection can be a practical choice where available, but no cable, router, or internet plan guarantees uninterrupted streaming.

5. Create the stream, preview it, and monitor it
- In YouTube Live Control Room, create or schedule the stream.
- Copy the server URL and stream key into your encoder’s stream settings. Treat the key like a password; do not share it publicly.
- Start with an unlisted or test stream. Check the YouTube preview for both picture and sound before making the stream public.
- Watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators and messages, as well as the encoder’s dropped-frame and connection status.
- Test any backup encoder or recovery plan before depending on it. A backup should be tested by deliberately interrupting the primary feed and checking what viewers see.
YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend setting up well ahead of time, previewing before going live, and monitoring audio and video. For an unattended devotional loop, keep monitoring available even after the initial test: the stream can be disrupted by encoder or network problems.
Clear the rights to bhajans, kirtan, Gurbani, and visuals
Religious or devotional subject matter does not remove copyright obligations. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. It may replace a stream with a placeholder and warn the operator, or temporarily interrupt or terminate it if the content remains. A copyright strike can also terminate a live stream.
Before streaming, confirm that you have the necessary rights for the specific recording and composition, as well as any images or video used. YouTube’s livestream terms state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.”

If you have licensed third-party content, YouTube says the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Without that, a stream may be interrupted even if you have a licence. Keep records of permissions and check that they cover the relevant recording, composition, territory, and use, including any stream archive. A continuous stream is not a monetization shortcut. YouTube applies its originality, reused-content, and inauthentic-content policies at the channel level, including to live streams. In its July 15, 2025 update, YouTube clarified that repetitive or mass-produced content falls under its inauthentic-content policy. Reused content is reviewed separately; repetitive or interchangeable uploads with little educational, narrative, or other value may not qualify, while materially varied content offering creative, educational, or other value can be allowed.
If you use existing recordings, make your channel’s original contribution clear through meaningful commentary or substantive modification where appropriate. Copyright compliance is a separate requirement: permission to use a recording does not itself establish monetization eligibility. Check current YouTube Partner Program rules in YouTube Studio; YouTube makes channel-level decisions, and hardware or stream settings cannot guarantee approval.
