To use a Logitech steering wheel on a Windows PC, connect its USB cable and required power supply, install the software Logitech lists for that exact model, confirm that Windows detects the wheel, then bind its controls in your racing game. The G29, G920, and G923 have different details, so check the model printed on the wheel base before following setup steps.
Check your wheel model and PC compatibility
Find the model name on the wheel base, then use Logitech’s support and downloads page to find the software and instructions for that model. Do not assume that setup guidance for one Logitech wheel applies to every generation or variant.

Logitech’s specifications for the G920 and the Xbox/PC G923 list Windows 10 and Windows 11, USB connection, G HUB support, and compatible racing games. Those specifications describe those models, not every Logitech wheel. A Windows-compatible wheel also needs support in the particular game for its controls and force feedback to work.
Connect and set up the wheel
- Connect the hardware. Plug the wheel’s USB cable into the PC and connect its power supply if the model uses one. Logitech lists a 24 V, 1.75 A adapter for the G920; follow the power requirements for your own model.
- Install the model-specific software. Logitech lists G HUB for the G920 and G923. For a G29 or another model, check its current Logitech support page rather than assuming which software to install. Older Logitech G29/G920 guidance names Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) 8.70 or later for full functionality at the time that guidance was published; that is release-era advice, not confirmation that LGS is the current choice.
- Set the G29’s platform switch for PC. Logitech’s G29/G920 LGS instructions say to set the G29 platform switch to PS4 when connecting it to a computer. This instruction is specific to the G29; do not apply it to other models.
- Check detection before opening a game. Open G HUB and see whether the wheel appears and its inputs register. Then check the Windows controller interface for the device and test its steering, buttons, and pedals.
- Configure the game. In the game’s controls menu, select the wheel if it is offered or bind steering, throttle, brake, clutch, and buttons manually. Game-specific wheel and force-feedback support is required for the corresponding features to work.
How the G29, G920, and G923 differ
| Model or guidance | PC and software details | Rotation and connection notes |
|---|---|---|
| G920 | Logitech lists Windows 10 and 11, USB 2.0/full-speed connection, G HUB support, and compatible games in its product specification. | Maximum rotation is 900 degrees. The listed power adapter is 24 V, 1.75 A. |
| G923 Xbox/PC | Logitech lists Windows 10 and 11, USB connection, G HUB support, and compatible games for the Xbox/PC version. | Maximum rotation is 900 degrees. Do not assume its variant-specific details apply to another G923 version. |
| G29/G920 legacy software guidance | Logitech’s operating-system article names Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, and Vista as supported at release and says LGS 8.70 or later was needed for full functionality. | This is dated release-era guidance, not confirmation of current support for older Windows versions or a recommendation to use LGS today. |
Logitech’s specifications list 150 MB of available disk space for both the G920 and G923. The pages do not establish that figure as a current installer requirement for every software version, so check the download page for the software you install.

Tune steering and pedals when needed
For a G29 or G920 using LGS, Logitech documents steering sensitivity, pedal sensitivity, and wheel operating range. Its LGS guidance gives a range of 40–900 degrees in 10-degree increments, with 900 degrees as the default. The operating-range setting can apply globally, while sensitivity can be set by game profile. These controls and values are specific to the models and software guidance described; other wheels or software may expose different settings.
Start by confirming that steering and pedals work in Windows and the game. Then adjust the relevant in-game or software setting if the response does not suit your needs. Changing advanced settings before confirming basic inputs can make a connection problem harder to distinguish from a configuration issue.

Troubleshoot a wheel that is not detected or has no force feedback
- Check power and USB. Make sure the wheel is connected to the PC and its required power supply is connected. Logitech’s connection troubleshooting guidance starts with checking the connection and power.
- Check G HUB. Confirm that the wheel appears and that steering, pedals, and buttons register.
- Check Windows. Open the Windows controller interface and confirm the device appears and responds there. If it does not, troubleshoot the connection and model-specific software before changing game settings.
- Check the game’s bindings. If steering and pedals work but force feedback does not on a G29 or G920, Logitech advises checking steering and force-feedback mapping in the game and in LGS where applicable. See its G29/G920 technical guidance.
- Use advanced fixes cautiously. Logitech labels its registry instructions as advanced troubleshooting. Registry editing is not a routine first step for a wheel that is not recognized.
Connect an optional shifter
For PC use, Logitech says the RS H-Shifter can connect to an available USB port and be configured in the racing game, providing seven forward gears and reverse. Its connection instructions distinguish PC from console setup: console use with G-series wheels requires a Logitech G Racing Adapter. Do not apply that console connection path to a PC. Logitech’s cited RS H-Shifter guidance does not establish that the Driving Force Shifter connects to PC in the same way, so check instructions for the exact accessory and wheel combination.
