To move a local Soulmask world to a dedicated server, stop the server, back up its current save, upload your local world.db to the map-specific Worlds folder, optionally upload GameXishu.json for gameplay settings, select the same map, and restart. The database contains the world and player progress, so replacing it permanently overwrites the server copy unless you restore a backup.

What you are actually moving
Soulmask stores the playable world and player information in a database named world.db. Uploading that file transfers the saved world state, structures, inventories, characters, and other progress represented in the database. It is not an additive import: the uploaded database replaces the server’s existing database.
GameXishu.json is separate. It holds gameplay-setting data and is optional when your goal is only to move world progress. Upload it when you also want the server to use the settings from the local session.

world.db: required for the world and player save; replacing it overwrites the current server world.GameXishu.json: optional gameplay-settings file; it does not replace the world database.- Map selection: the server map must match the map from which the save was created.
GhostCap reports that all player data is contained in world.db and that Soulmask currently has no save-merging function. If two groups have separate worlds, choose one database or keep separate servers; uploading both in sequence will not combine their characters or buildings.
Before you upload: requirements and safeguards
Use the same Soulmask version
Keep the client that created the save and the dedicated server on the same Soulmask version. A version mismatch can prevent the database from loading or create compatibility problems after an update. If the host has already updated, update the local game before copying the save, or ask the host whether it can temporarily run the matching build.

Stop the server
Stop the server from its control panel before changing files. Nitrado specifically recommends stopping a server before uploading or replacing any save file and restarting it after the upload finishes. A running process can keep the database open, write over your upload, or leave a partially written file.
Back up the destination
Use the host’s backup function or download the existing save before overwriting it. Give the backup a clear date and map name. If the transferred world fails to load, restoring this copy is the fastest way to return the server to its previous state.
Confirm access and free space
You need either the host’s web file manager or FTP/SFTP credentials with write access to the Soulmask save directory. Check the panel’s upload-size limit and available storage before starting. A browser upload that silently stops at a limit can leave an incomplete database.

The bracketed portions are folders on your computer, not text to type literally. The first is your Steam ID folder; the final folder is the game invite ID for that world. Inside the invite-ID folder you should see world.db and, when the session has created one, GameXishu.json.
- Close Soulmask so it is not writing the save while you copy it.
- Press
Windows + R, enter%LOCALAPPDATA%WS, and press Enter. - Open the folder named with your Steam ID, then open
2646460. - Open
AutoGamesand inspect the invite-ID folders. - Open the folder for the world you intend to transfer and verify that
world.dbhas a recent modified time. - Copy the database to a separate local backup folder before uploading anything.
If several invite-ID folders exist, compare their modified times and, if needed, open each one until you find the world with the expected progress. Do not guess based only on a folder name. Copy the entire selected folder to your backup location so you retain any accompanying files.
Identify the correct server destination
Soulmask uses different world-directory names for the two maps documented by hosting providers. Upload world.db to the path that corresponds to the map saved locally.

Those paths are case-sensitive on many FTP and Linux-backed systems. Use the existing folder supplied by the host rather than creating a second spelling. If your panel shows a different root, navigate through its equivalent WS, Saved, Worlds, and Dedicated folders.
Upload the local world step by step
1. Stop and back up
- Open the server control panel.
- Choose Stop and wait until the status is fully offline.
- Create a panel backup or download the current
world.dbfrom the destination map folder.
2. Open the server file manager or FTP connection
In a web panel, open File Manager, Files, or the provider’s equivalent. With FTP, connect using the host, port, username, password, and encryption settings supplied by the provider. Navigate to the destination map folder shown in the table.

3. Replace only the intended database
Locate the existing world.db. Rename it to something such as world.db.server-backup or download it first, then upload the local file with the exact filename world.db. If the panel asks whether to overwrite, confirm only after checking that the server is stopped and your backup is complete.
Do not upload the database into /WS/Saved/Worlds/Dedicated/ itself. It must sit inside the map folder, either Level01_Main or DLC_Level01_Main. Do not leave a duplicate such as world (1).db; the server will not treat that as the active save.
4. Wait for a complete transfer
Keep the file-manager or FTP window open until it reports success. Check the remote file size and modified time, if shown. An interrupted transfer can produce a truncated database that looks present but cannot be opened by the game.
Upload gameplay settings when needed
To transfer local gameplay rules as well as progress, upload GameXishu.json to:
/WS/Saved/GameplaySettings/GameXishu.json
This file belongs in GameplaySettings, not in either map’s Worlds/Dedicated folder. If Windows has created a numbered copy such as GameXishu_2.json, rename it to GameXishu.json before uploading. Keep the original local copy elsewhere in case you need to compare settings later.
Uploading this file is optional. Skip it when you want the server’s existing gameplay configuration while bringing over only the world and player data. If the file is absent locally, do not create an empty replacement; leave the server’s settings file unchanged.

Set the map and restart
- In the server panel, open the map or startup-settings control.
- Select the same map represented by the uploaded database: Cloud Mist Forest for
Level01_Main, or Shifting of Sands forDLC_Level01_Main. - Save the configuration.
- Start the server and wait for it to finish loading.
- Join with a character that existed in the local world and inspect a known base, chest, or landmark.
The first start after a replacement can take longer while the server checks the database. Do not stop it during that process unless the panel reports a definite crash or repeated failure.
Verify that the transfer worked
Check the expected character
Join using the same account and character identity used in the local save. Confirm that the character’s inventory, level, location, and known equipment match the local session. A new-character prompt or an empty inventory usually indicates that the wrong database was uploaded, the wrong map was selected, or the upload did not finish.
Check world objects
Visit a distinctive structure or resource location. World progress such as buildings, storage, tame or production setups, and discovered areas should correspond to the local world. This check is more reliable than looking only at a server start message.

If the world is correct but rates or rules differ, inspect whether GameXishu.json was uploaded to /WS/Saved/GameplaySettings/ with the exact filename. Settings and world data are separate, so a successful database transfer does not prove that custom rules moved too.
Troubleshooting common failures
The server starts a new world
- Verify the uploaded file is named exactly
world.db, notworld.db.zip,world (1).db, or a numbered variant. - Confirm it is inside the correct map folder, not one level above or in the other map’s directory.
- Confirm the selected server map matches the local map.
- Check the remote file’s size and timestamp and repeat the upload while the server is stopped if the transfer was interrupted.
The server will not start or crashes while loading
- Stop the server and restore the backup you made before the replacement to confirm that the host itself still starts.
- Check that the client and server are on the same Soulmask version.
- Upload a fresh copy from the local invite-ID folder; a partial or damaged transfer can be rejected.
- Ask host support to inspect the server log and confirm the account has permission to read the file.
The world loads but the player is missing
Player data is stored in world.db. A missing character generally means the server loaded a different database or the account identity does not match the one used in the local session. Recheck the invite-ID folder and join with the same account. Uploading a second database will not merge the missing character into the first world.
Gameplay settings did not change
- Make sure the local file is named
GameXishu.json; renameGameXishu_2.jsonor another numbered copy first. - Place it under
/WS/Saved/GameplaySettings/, not underWorlds/Dedicated. - Stop the server before replacing it, then restart so the process reads the new file.
- If the local session never generated the file, retain the server’s existing settings instead of uploading an invented file.
The upload is rejected or stops early
Check the host’s file-size limit, remaining storage, browser session timeout, and FTP transfer mode. For a large database, FTP may be more reliable than a browser form, but it still requires a complete transfer confirmation. If the host blocks the file extension or path, contact support rather than renaming the database to an unknown format.
Restoring the old server world
If the transferred save is incorrect, stop the server again before restoring anything. Delete or move the replacement world.db, upload the backed-up database to the same map folder, confirm the original map selection, and restart. Restore the original GameXishu.json separately if you changed gameplay settings as part of the migration. Keep the failed upload in a separate local folder until the recovery is complete; it may help support diagnose the problem.
File manager or FTP: which should you use?

Feature names, limits, and available protocols vary by host. Before buying or moving a server, verify that it supports the relevant Soulmask map, gives you access to the required save folders, provides usable backups, and lets you control the map and startup settings.
How to choose a host for Soulmask save transfers
The upload workflow is largely the same, but the practical experience depends on the controls exposed by the provider. Evaluate these points before committing to a server:
- File access: a full file manager or FTP/SFTP access lets you reach
WS/Saved/Worlds/DedicatedandWS/Saved/GameplaySettingswithout opening a support ticket. - Backups: look for scheduled backups, downloadable snapshots, and a clear restore process.
- Map support: confirm that both Cloud Mist Forest and, if needed, Shifting of Sands are available on the server build you will run.
- Configuration controls: check whether you can select the map and restart cleanly after a file replacement.
- Transfer limits: ask about browser upload size, storage quotas, and whether FTP/SFTP is available for larger saves.
- Support: determine whether staff can inspect logs and recover a failed save without deleting your backup.
- Location and current price: compare the provider’s available regions and recurring price at the time you order; these details change and are not universal.
Safe migration checklist
- Local and server Soulmask versions match.
- Soulmask is closed locally while files are copied.
- The dedicated server is fully stopped.
- The existing server database is backed up or downloaded.
- The local path is the intended invite-ID folder under
%LOCALAPPDATA%WS...2646460AutoGames. world.dbis uploaded to the correct map folder.GameXishu.jsonis uploaded only when needed and only to/WS/Saved/GameplaySettings/.- The filename is exact, with no numbered suffix or duplicate extension.
- The server map matches the save’s map.
- The upload reports completion before the server is restarted.
- A known character and world landmark are checked after joining.
Frequently asked questions
Can I merge a local save with the server’s existing world?
No. The available guidance indicates that player data is contained in world.db and that Soulmask currently has no way to merge saves. Replacing the file selects one world; it does not combine progress.
Do I need to upload GameXishu.json?
No. It is optional for a world transfer. Upload it only when the local gameplay settings should replace the server’s settings.
Where does the local save live?
On Windows, look under %LOCALAPPDATA%WS[YOUR-STEAM-ID]2646460AutoGames[YOUR-GAME-INVITE-ID]. The folder contains world.db and may contain GameXishu.json.
Which folder is used for Shifting of Sands?
