Keep playlist changes separate from Live Control Room: an ordinary playlist edit is not a change to the broadcast feed or its settings.
Update the playlist in YouTube Studio

Open YouTube Studio and select Content, then the Playlists tab. Find the playlist you intend to change and confirm its title before editing it. YouTube documents playlist management in this area: YouTube Help: Create and manage playlists.

Open the playlist with Edit on YouTube. To add a video, use the playlist controls to select it from search, enter a URL, or choose it from your library. YouTube Help also describes adding videos from a video’s details page: choose More, then Add videos.

To reorder entries, drag them into the desired order in the playlist editor. To remove an entry, use that entry’s menu and choose the remove option. Check the selected entry before confirming, especially if the playlist contains similar titles or multiple uploads.

If you are changing the playlist’s title, description, or privacy, use its details controls. YouTube’s documented limits are 150 characters for a title and 5,000 characters for a description: YouTube Help: Edit playlists.

Review the playlist’s contents and order after saving. Keep the Live Control Room or Studio Live controls unchanged unless you separately intend to change the broadcast.

Does editing a playlist interrupt the live broadcast?
Playlist membership and broadcast management are separate operations. YouTube’s documentation treats a playlist as a collection of playlist items, while its live-streaming documentation distinguishes the incoming liveStream feed from the viewer-facing liveBroadcast event. They can be bound to each other, but that is different from editing playlist contents.

YouTube’s documentation establishes those separate workflows, but it does not guarantee that no account-specific issue could ever affect a broadcast. Nor does it specify how quickly an already-open viewer or embedded playlist reflects a change. Do not promise viewers that their current player will update instantly; if the changed order matters, tell them to refresh or reopen the playlist.

Studio or API: which should you use?

When deleting an entry through the API, identify the playlist item, not just the underlying video. The playlist-item ID identifies that occurrence in the playlist and is different from the video ID; deletion requires OAuth 2.0 authorization. See YouTube Data API playlistItems: delete.

The wrong video occurrence was removed through the API: look up the playlist-item ID for the exact entry. A video ID alone does not identify which occurrence in a playlist to delete.

The live controls were changed by mistake: avoid changing stream or broadcast settings when the task is only to modify playlist contents. Check the live status in Live Control Room separately; playlist editing and broadcast management have distinct controls.

A viewer still sees the old sequence: YouTube’s reviewed documentation does not specify active-player refresh timing. Ask the viewer to refresh or reopen the playlist rather than claiming the update appears immediately.
