How to approach the campaign and collectibles
Bethesda describes the expansion as a campaign with new levels, deeper puzzles, new demons, and the Chain Spear. A secondary collectible guide organizes its directions under Proving Grounds, Hell’s Core, Chasm of Xal’Goroth, Osseus, Purgatory, and Uprising; it describes Purgatory as a hub. Use those chapter names to find location-specific directions, rather than treating them as an official mission-order list.

Explore as you advance
On your first run, check side paths, broken walls, elevated ledges, and routes opened by interactable objects. The collectible guide’s examples from Proving Grounds illustrate how secrets can be tucked behind traversal and combat interactions:
- Before entering the castle, broken stairs on the left lead to a secret area.
- Green Flesh traversal and a shield pull lead to Codex: Marok Letters I.
- A blue skull opens an elevator route with enemies and fire traps. A lever and a Komodo Dragon fight lead onward to a Life Sigil.
- Elsewhere, shield-activated energy nodes open a door, while a broken wall hides another route to a secret.

Learn the Chain Spear’s role
The Chain Spear is a new combat tool built around power and mobility. PC Gamer describes using it to parry and dodge, with dodges able to supercharge the weapon. Earlier weapons and the repaired Shield Saw also return as the campaign progresses. Practice the spear’s timing and movement options rather than assuming one weapon setup is best for every fight. PC Gamer reports that players cannot return to levels until they have beaten the story. It also reports that time-trial combat challenges, classic-Doom-inspired levels, and tough bosses unlock after the story. A practical route is therefore to explore thoroughly on the first pass, finish the campaign, then revisit levels and the hub for cleanup and challenges.

Bethesda says completing the story grants owners three additional Ripatorium maps, demons, and fully upgraded new weapons. Its announcement does not give a comprehensive checklist of every endgame unlock condition, so use the in-game prompts and available level or challenge menus to track what remains.
