On a PS5 Pro, go to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > Enhance PSSR Image Quality and select the setting to change its state. PSSR is available only on PS5 Pro and applies to supported games, not every PS5 title.
Change the PSSR setting
- From the PS5 Pro home screen, open Settings.
- Select Screen and Video.
- Select Video Output.
- Select Enhance PSSR Image Quality to toggle it. Sony documents this control as the way to turn the feature off; return to the same setting to enable it.
What PSSR does
PSSR stands for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. Sony describes it as an AI library that analyzes each frame pixel by pixel while upscaling game visuals. The upgraded version is intended to improve reconstruction precision, motion stability, fine-detail clarity, and consistency. Those are intended benefits, not a guarantee that every supported game will look or perform better; Sony says results vary by title. Sony’s March 16, 2026 PlayStation Blog post explains the update.

When to switch it off
If you notice unexpected visual effects, turn the setting off and compare the same game in the same scene. Look for differences in image stability, fine-detail clarity, motion artifacts, and the game’s frame-rate or fidelity mode. The setting is reversible, and there is no universally best state for every supported game.

The setting is available on PS5 Pro, for games that support PSSR. It does not force PSSR on across the full PS5 library. Sony’s PS5 Pro page currently lists these games under Enhanced PSSR:

Game support can change as system software and games are updated. Sony’s March 16, 2026 post says the upgraded PSSR was integrated with the latest system software update, which began rolling out in phases that day. If the setting is missing, confirm that you have a PS5 Pro and check for a system software update in the console’s settings. The post does not establish one firmware version required for every console.

If the option is missing
- Check that your console is a PS5 Pro; the control is not available on the standard PS5.
- Check for and install a system software update, then look again under Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output.
