If you’re on a compatible preview build, check Settings > Personalization > Context menu. For certain preview builds, a third-party guide reports that you can reveal the setting with ViveTool and feature ID 60813048; this is an experimental workaround, not a standard Windows setting.
What you can customize
Microsoft announced the redesigned menu as an Insider rollout on August 17, 2026. Its settings let you control built-in commands and app extensions, as well as how common actions appear. Read Microsoft’s announcement.

- Toggle built-in commands such as Send to and Create shortcut, and enable Print.
- Choose which app extensions appear in the main menu or submenu, or hide the submenu.
- Show Cut, Copy, Paste, Rename, Delete, and Share inline rather than as icons.
- Move Properties to the bottom of the menu.
Microsoft described the feature as “now rolling to Windows Insiders,” not as a feature available to all Windows 11 users. Its general availability was not established as of October 7, 2026. If the Context menu page is absent, check your Windows build and Insider channel or wait for a broader rollout.
Check whether your preview build is covered
Pureinfotech’s guide, published August 18 and updated August 20, 2026, reports compatibility with Windows 11 build 26340.9212 or higher in the Experimental channel for version 26H2. It also reports that the steps worked on KB5120998, build 26200.9267, for version 25H2. These are the guide’s reported results, not a Microsoft support guarantee; feature availability may vary by build and channel. See Pureinfotech’s build notes.

To check your version and build, open Settings > System > About. If you’re not on one of the builds the guide names, don’t assume the feature flag will work on your installation.
Enable the setting with ViveTool
The following method comes from Pureinfotech, not Microsoft. Use it only if you’re comfortable enabling an experimental feature on a compatible preview build.

- Download the ViveTool ZIP and extract it to a folder.
- Copy the full path to the extracted ViveTool folder.
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Change to the extracted folder. Replace the example path with the folder path on your PC:
cd c:folderpathViveTool-v0.x.x - Enable the reported feature flag:
vivetool /enable /id:60813048 - Restart your PC.
- Open Settings > Personalization > Context menu and check whether the customization page appears.
If the command fails or the setting does not appear, confirm that Command Prompt is running as administrator, the folder path is correct, and your build matches the guide’s reported compatibility. The method is build-dependent; the sources do not establish that it works on every Windows 11 preview build.

Once the page is available, use its controls to decide which built-in commands and app extensions you want easy to reach. Put extensions in the main menu if you use them often, or keep them in the submenu; you can also hide that submenu. For the standard actions, choose inline text instead of icons if that layout is easier to scan. Put Properties at the bottom if that suits your habits.

App extensions are a separate part of the picture: Microsoft PowerToys developer documentation describes Windows 11 context-menu handlers as sparse MSIX packages that expose IExplorerCommand. That is developer background, not a prerequisite for changing the new settings. Read the PowerToys developer documentation.
Turn off the ViveTool flag
If you enabled the feature with ViveTool and want to reverse that change, open an administrator Command Prompt, go to the extracted ViveTool folder using the same cd step, then run:

Restart the PC afterward. This reversal applies to the feature flag enabled by the guide’s method.
