The best budget ergonomic keyboard depends on which adjustment you need: Logitech Wave Keys offers a compact wave-shaped layout, the Logitech ERGO K860 adds a fixed curved split layout and adjustable palm lift, and Kinesis Freestyle2 lets you position its two halves separately. Compare the current package price, included supports, connection type and return terms before choosing; none is established as the best fit for every person.

How the three keyboards differ

Keyboard Layout and support Connection and compatibility Price information in the cited manufacturer material
Logitech Wave Keys Compact, wave-shaped key arrangement with a cushioned palm rest containing three layers of memory foam. Bluetooth or included Logi Bolt receiver; Logitech lists Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, iPadOS, iOS and Android. Logitech says battery life can reach three years with the included two AAA batteries. Not stated in the retrieved Logitech product information.
Logitech ERGO K860 Full-size curved split keyframe, integrated pillowed wrist rest and adjustable palm lift with 0°, -4° and -7° tilt settings. Check the current product listing for the connection and compatibility details relevant to your devices. Logitech’s U.S. product page displayed $119.99, reduced from $149.99, when accessed October 7, 2026. This is a dated manufacturer-store price, not a guaranteed current price.
Kinesis Freestyle2 Low-profile split keyboard; its modules can remain together or be separated by up to 9 or 20 inches, depending on configuration. Palm supports and tenting accessories are separate options. Kinesis recommends USB for some PC setups and Bluetooth for use cases such as sit-stand desks or mobile devices. Confirm the model’s connection and compatibility with your equipment. The Kinesis U.S. store page displayed $99 for the PC model when accessed October 7, 2026. Confirm which configuration and accessories are included.

Which layout suits your desk and working style?

Choose Wave Keys for a compact wave-shaped layout

Wave Keys keeps the keys in one compact keyboard rather than dividing them into independently positionable halves. Its built-in cushioned palm rest is part of the design, and the Bluetooth and Logi Bolt options give you a choice of wireless connection. It may suit a desk where a smaller footprint matters, but check that its shape and palm-rest position feel natural to you.

Choose ERGO K860 for a full-size curved layout with an adjustable palm lift

The K860 keeps both sides joined in a fixed curved split frame. It includes a pillowed wrist rest and lets you set the palm lift to 0°, -4° or -7°. Its full-size layout may be preferable if you want a familiar, joined keyboard with that adjustment, but measure your available desk space and consider where the keyboard places your mouse.

#1 Best Overall
Logitech Ergo K860 Wireless Ergonomic Split Keyboard with Wrist Rest | Curved split keyframe, pillowed wrist rest, Bluetooth, USB connectivity with included USB Receiver, Windows Mac compatible
  • Improved Typing Posture: Type more naturally with a curved, split keyframe and reduce muscle strain on your wrists and forearms thanks to the sloping keyboard design
  • Pillowed Wrist Rest: Curved wrist rest with memory foam layer offers typing comfort with 54 per cent more wrist support; 25 per cent less wrist bending compared to standard keyboard without palm rest
  • Perfect Stroke Keys: Scooped keys match the shape of your fingertips so you can type with confidence on a wireless keyboard crafted for comfort, precision and fluidity
  • Adjustable Palm Lift: Whether seated or standing, keep your wrists in total comfort and a natural typing posture with ergonomically-designed tilt legs of 0, -4 and -7 degrees
  • Ergonomist Approved: The ERGO K860 wireless ergonomic keyboard is certified by United States Ergonomics to improve posture and lower muscle strain

Logitech claims the K860 provides “54% more wrist support” and “25% less wrist bending” compared with a traditional Logitech keyboard without a palm rest. These are Logitech’s comparisons, not independent evidence of a medical benefit. A Logitech brochure also reports “57% more wrist support,” but the cited passage does not state a comparison baseline, so that figure cannot be meaningfully compared with the K860 claims.

Choose Freestyle2 when independent positioning matters

Freestyle2’s two modules can be positioned apart rather than locked into a single curved frame. Separation is up to 9 or 20 inches depending on configuration. That flexibility can help you experiment with keyboard placement, but it also means checking the specific model, cable or wireless arrangement and whether any accessories you want are actually in the package.

  • Ergo-certified: The Wave Keys Ergonomic Keyboard has been designed and tested according to criteria set out by leading ergonomists and is approved by United States Ergonomics

What the price includes—and what may cost extra

The cited price figures are snapshots from manufacturer stores: Logitech’s U.S. ERGO K860 page showed $119.99 on October 7, 2026, discounted from $149.99, while the Kinesis U.S. store showed $99 for the Freestyle2 PC model that day. The retrieved Wave Keys product information did not state a price. These figures do not establish current checkout totals, shipping, tax, retailer pricing or the cost of optional accessories.

For Freestyle2, Kinesis’s optional V3 and VIP3 tenting kits support 5°, 10° and 15° tenting; VIP3 includes palm supports. Do not assume tenting or palm supports are included with the keyboard itself: verify the package contents for the exact listing. Wave Keys and ERGO K860 have their palm rests integrated into the keyboard design.

Check key feel, device support and adjustment before buying

  • Connection: Wave Keys offers Bluetooth and the included Logi Bolt receiver. Kinesis advises that USB may suit some PC setups, while Bluetooth may suit sit-stand desks or mobile devices. Verify the exact Freestyle2 configuration and connection method you intend to use.
  • Compatibility: Logitech lists Wave Keys support for Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, iPadOS, iOS and Android. For any keyboard, confirm operating-system and device compatibility, receiver requirements and any layout-specific needs on the current product page.
  • Key feel and adaptation: Kinesis describes Freestyle2’s switches as low-force tactile membrane switches and gives a typical average maximum key force of 45 grams. That is the manufacturer’s product information, not an independent category-wide measurement. Allow time to adapt to a different layout, especially if moving from a conventional keyboard.
  • Desk fit: Compare the full-size K860’s footprint with the compact Wave Keys and the adjustable positioning of Freestyle2. Include the mouse in your layout planning: a keyboard that occupies more desk width can affect how close the mouse sits.
  • Return terms: Fit is personal. Read the seller’s return window and conditions before purchase so you know whether you can return the keyboard if its layout or feel does not work for you.

What the ergonomic claims do—and do not—show

Logitech says Wave Keys was developed and tested with its Ergo Lab and certified ergonomic by United States Ergonomics. Its brochure also reports that “100% users were typing efficiently from day 1,” attributing the result to a Logitech-commissioned U.S. study of 50 participants in May and July 2023. That is a sponsor-reported study claim, not a guarantee that every new user will adapt immediately.

Kinesis reports results from a seven-month Atlas IPS study involving 80 employees at a large U.S. software company: 100% returned to full productivity after a brief adaptation period, 96% preferred Freestyle, 79% reported less neck discomfort and 50% showed a decrease in ulnar deviation. The product-page summary does not provide a publication year or full study methods, so those results should not be treated as clinical evidence or generalized to all users.

A practical way to choose

  1. Set a real spending limit. Compare the current price of the exact model and package, including any tenting kit or palm supports you want, rather than relying on an older sale price.
  2. Pick the layout you want to live with. Choose a compact wave shape, a fixed full-size curve or independently positionable halves.
  3. Confirm connection and compatibility. Match Bluetooth, receiver or USB requirements to your computer and desk setup.
  4. Check footprint and support details. Verify whether the palm rest is integrated and whether optional tenting accessories are included.
  5. Review the return policy. Since comfort and adaptation vary, buy from a seller whose current terms you understand.

On the documented features, Wave Keys is the compact integrated-rest option; ERGO K860 is the full-size fixed curve with three palm-lift settings; Freestyle2 is the choice when separating the keyboard halves is the priority. The right budget choice is the one whose layout, included features and current total price match your desk and preferences.
