Press Windows logo key + Plus (+) to turn on Magnifier. Press Windows logo key + Esc to turn it off. You can also enable it in Settings; the menu path differs between Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Turn on Magnifier from Settings
If you prefer using a mouse or need to locate the feature, open the path for your version of Windows:

- Windows 11: Select Start > Settings > Accessibility > Magnifier, then switch Magnifier on.
- Windows 10: Select Start > Settings > Ease of Access > Magnifier, then turn it on.

Adjust the zoom level
With Magnifier on, press Windows logo key + Plus (+) to zoom in or Windows logo key + Minus (-) to zoom out. In Magnifier settings, you can also choose the starting zoom level and the amount each zoom step changes. See Microsoft’s instructions for changing Magnifier’s zoom level.

Choose how Magnifier displays the screen
Magnifier offers three views. Use Ctrl + Alt + M to cycle through them, or press a view’s shortcut directly:
- Full screen: Enlarges the screen area. Shortcut: Ctrl + Alt + F.
- Docked: Shows an enlarged area in a docked region of the screen. Shortcut: Ctrl + Alt + D.
- Lens: Provides a movable magnified area. Shortcut: Ctrl + Alt + L.
Try each view and keep the one that works best for the task. Magnifier can also be set to follow the mouse pointer, keyboard focus, text cursor, or Narrator cursor; these tracking options can be combined. The Microsoft Magnifier guide covers the view and tracking options.

Set Magnifier to start automatically
In Magnifier settings, you can choose whether it starts after you sign in or before you sign in. These are optional startup settings, not settings that are automatically enabled for everyone.

Touch controls
Magnifier supports touch controls for zooming and gestures for moving around the screen. Microsoft’s Magnifier keyboard shortcuts and touch gestures page lists the documented gestures.
