If an event has disappeared because it was deleted, check the affected calendar’s Trash on a computer: events remain there for 30 days and can be restored while they are still listed. For a managed Google Workspace account, an administrator may be able to investigate recorded actions in Calendar log events, but those logs are not documented as a way to restore an event’s previous contents.
Does Google Calendar have event version history?
Google’s user-facing recovery instructions explain how to restore deleted events from Trash; they do not describe a general history of event edits that lets you select an earlier version and roll back changes. That means two different problems can sound like “missing version history”: a deleted event that you want back, or an event that still exists but was changed.

For a deleted event, try Calendar Trash first. For an unexpected change in a managed Workspace account, an administrator can investigate available Calendar audit logs. Google’s documentation does not promise that those logs retain every prior event detail or can undo arbitrary edits.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteHow to restore a deleted event from Calendar Trash
- On a computer, open Google Calendar and open Settings.
- Choose the Trash for the calendar where the event was deleted. Each calendar has its own Trash.
- Find the event and select Restore.
Google says deleted events remain in that calendar’s Trash for 30 days. You need edit access to a calendar to see its Trash. If the event creator restores an event, guests may need to RSVP again. Google Calendar Help: Delete an event

If the event is not listed
- Check the Trash for other calendars if you are unsure which calendar contained the event.
- Confirm that you have edit access to the affected calendar; without it, you may not be able to view its Trash.
- The 30-day period may have elapsed, or another editor may have permanently deleted or already restored the event. Google’s instructions do not promise recovery after permanent deletion or after Trash retention ends.
Recurring-event exception
If a recurring event was deleted using “This and following events,” Google says those removed events are permanently deleted and do not go to Trash. The Trash restore steps therefore do not apply to that case. Google Calendar Help: Delete an event

For a managed Google Workspace account, an administrator with the required edition and permissions can check Calendar log events in the Admin console at Reporting > Audit and investigation > Calendar log events. The logs can record actions involving calendars, events, and subscriptions, and may help explain an unexpected change or disappearance. Access depends on the organization’s Workspace edition, administrator privileges, and data source. Google Workspace Admin Help: Calendar log events
These logs are investigation evidence, not a documented event-content rollback tool. Google’s audit event reference includes actions such as restore_event, but the available documentation does not establish that every prior event body is retained or that an administrator can reverse any edit. Allow time for log entries to appear
Google says Calendar log entries usually appear within one half-hour of a user action. Its broader lag guidance says entries can take tens of minutes and sometimes up to a couple of hours, so an immediate search may not show the action yet. Google Workspace Help: Data retention and lag times
Information to gather for a missing-event support request
Google Workspace support says it can find Calendar entry deletions only when they happened in the last 30 days. Its guidance asks for the Calendar ID, whether the calendar is primary or secondary, and the reason events are missing if known. For an investigation, also gather relevant event IDs and an audit log report if available. Google Workspace Help: Before you contact support
Quick Recap
Choose the recovery route that matches the problem
| What happened | Where to look | What it can do |
|---|---|---|
| An event was deleted and may still be recoverable | The affected calendar’s Trash on a computer | Restore an event that is still listed within the 30-day Trash period, except recurring events removed with “This and following events.” |
| An event changed unexpectedly in a managed Workspace account | Admin console Calendar log events, if the administrator has eligible access | Investigate recorded actions; Google does not document general restoration of previous event contents through these logs. |
| An event was permanently deleted or is beyond Trash retention | Available organizational records or support guidance, where applicable | Recovery is not guaranteed; Google’s cited instructions do not promise restoration in these circumstances. |
