In the Gemini app on Android, tap your profile picture or initial, open Settings, and switch on Use Guided Vision in Live. To use it, start a Gemini Live session and share your camera; enabling the setting alone does not start the camera session.
Turn on Guided Vision and start a camera session

Start Gemini Live. When prompted, tap Start Live; if no prompt appears, start a Live chat and use the camera control to share what your camera sees. Google’s Gemini Live instructions describe sharing the camera during a Live session.

When you are done, tap End Live session.
The setting makes Guided Vision available. Going Live and sharing the camera is what begins the camera-based session.

Under Vision assistance, find Guided Vision and make sure Guided vision shortcut is on.

Choose the shortcut type that works for you.
| Shortcut | How it works |
|---|---|
| Accessibility button | Tap the on-screen accessibility button. |
| Accessibility gesture | Swipe up with two fingers. |
| Volume keys | Press and hold both volume keys. |
| TalkBack menu | If TalkBack is enabled, open its menu with a three-finger tap and choose Guided Vision. |
Google lists these options in its Guided Vision Android accessibility instructions. The gesture shortcut may differ in feel from a button or hardware-key shortcut, so choose the input method that is easiest for you.
What Guided Vision can help with
Google describes Guided Vision as audio assistance for tasks involving what the camera sees. Examples include reading small labels, translating text, identifying or locating an object such as pepper in a spice cabinet, describing colors, shapes, or patterns, and finding a dropped earbud. These are examples of intended uses, not a guarantee that the feature will identify every item or read every label correctly.

If “Use Guided Vision in Live” is missing
Google says Guided Vision is rolling out slowly, so the option may not yet be available to every user. Google also notes that the Gemini mobile app may not be available for all languages, devices, accounts, or locations. Its current help pages do not provide a complete eligibility list or a guaranteed fix for a missing setting.

Use it with safety limits in mind
Google warns: “Guided vision can make mistakes. It’s not intended as a medical device, mobility aid, or substitute for safe-travel guides. Don’t use it for navigation or obstacle detection. You’re solely responsible for your health and safety.” Treat its descriptions as assistance for understanding text or objects, not as a safety-critical way to navigate or detect hazards.
