To turn on Google Calendar alerts, choose a notification method in Calendar, set reminders for the relevant calendar or event, and allow notifications in your browser or device. The steps differ between a computer and the Google Calendar app; Calendar in a mobile browser does not support event notifications.
Choose how you want to be notified
Google Calendar offers email, desktop notifications, and alerts inside the Calendar window. Desktop notifications appear outside the browser while Calendar is open; in-window alerts appear within Calendar. Turn on alerts on a computer

Open Google Calendar in a browser and select Settings, then Settings again.

Under General, open Notification settings and choose the notification mode you want, such as desktop notifications or alerts inside Calendar.

If the browser asks whether calendar.google.com can send notifications, allow them. Desktop notifications need browser permission and Calendar open in the browser.
To receive email reminders, choose the email notification option where available. You can also set whether desktop notifications are snoozable; Google says snooze notifications are available only in Chrome. Calendar can be configured to notify you only after you have responded Yes or Maybe to an invitation. Google Calendar Help: Computer notification settings
Set reminders for a specific event or calendar
Change one event
Open the event, choose Edit, then add, change, or remove its notification or email reminder. Save the event to apply the change. This is useful when one appointment needs a different reminder from the calendar’s usual default.

Set defaults for a calendar
Open that calendar’s settings and adjust Event notifications or All-day event notifications. Calendar defaults apply to new events unless a particular event is customized. Turn on alerts in the Google Calendar app
Android

Open the Google Calendar app and tap Menu > Settings.

Choose a calendar and adjust its notification settings.

For a single event, open it, tap Edit, change its notification, and save.

To adjust sound or vibration, use the app’s general notification controls. Also check Android’s system settings: app notifications can be turned off there independently of Calendar’s own settings. Google Calendar Help: Android notifications

Open the Google Calendar app and tap Menu > Settings.

Choose a calendar and change its notification settings, or open an event, tap Edit, adjust its notification, and save.
If alerts still do not appear, check the device’s Settings for Google Calendar notification permission. Google says notification changes made on a phone also sync with computer notifications, but device-level permissions still govern delivery on that device. Calendar’s notification mode: On a computer, go to Settings > Settings > General > Notification settings and confirm the intended desktop notification mode is selected.

The event or calendar reminder: Open the affected event and verify it has a notification or email reminder. Then check that calendar’s Event notifications or All-day event notifications.

Browser permission: Confirm the browser allows notifications from calendar.google.com. In Chrome, the path is Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Notifications. Other browsers have their own notification controls.

Operating-system permission: Check that the browser is allowed to display notifications in your computer’s system settings, and leave Google Calendar open in the browser for desktop alerts.

Notification handling: On Windows, full-screen use, screen sharing, games, or Focus Assist can suppress alerts; a missed notification may be in Action Center. On macOS, check Notification Center and notification settings for display mirroring.

Sound permission: If the alert appears but has no sound, Google says the browser needs permission to play sound.

Mobile browser limitation
