On an Xbox console, use Profile & system > Settings > Preferences > Notifications and disable the category carrying the reminder. On Windows, use Settings > System > Notifications to switch off alerts from Xbox, Xbox Game Bar, or whichever sender appears on the pop-up. If the reminder comes from the Xbox app or Microsoft Rewards, change that app’s own notification settings instead.
First identify what is sending the streak reminder
“Xbox streak notification” can describe several different alerts. A console dashboard notification, an Xbox app alert, a Microsoft Rewards reminder, and an Xbox Game Bar overlay do not always share one switch. The sender name shown on the alert is the most useful clue.

- Xbox console: the alert is displayed by the Xbox dashboard.
- Windows Xbox app: the alert appears as a normal Windows notification from Xbox.
- Xbox Game Bar: the message appears while the Game Bar overlay is active or as a Game Bar notification.
- Microsoft Rewards or another Xbox-connected app: the app may generate its own streak or reminder message.
- Android or iPhone: the mobile Xbox app can use the phone’s app-notification channel.
Look at the notification’s title, sender, or icon before changing settings. If you turn off the wrong sender, the reminder can continue through a different channel.
Turn off streak notifications on an Xbox console
The documented console notification area is Settings > Preferences > Notifications. Xbox identifies this as the place to update notification preferences on Xbox consoles. Xbox Wire used the wording: “You can also update your notification preferences on Xbox consoles from Settings > Preferences > Notifications.” The statement was published on September 11, 2024.

- Press the Xbox button on the controller.
- Open Profile & system.
- Select Settings.
- Choose Preferences, then open Notifications.
- Review the categories displayed by your dashboard.
- Turn off the category that contains the streak reminder. Depending on the dashboard build, it may be labelled for an app, Rewards, reminders, or another broader notification group rather than “streak.”
Save or exit the settings page, then wait for the next reminder window to confirm that the alert has stopped. A dashboard may not expose a dedicated streak switch. If no streak-specific entry exists, disable the broader category that is clearly associated with the sender shown on the alert.
When the console has no streak-specific option
Microsoft does not publish a single, universal streak-toggle label for every Xbox dashboard version and region. Categories can change as the dashboard and connected services are updated. Do not assume that an entry named “Notifications” controls every Xbox-connected service; inspect the available categories and match them to the sender.
If the alert is actually generated by the Xbox app or Microsoft Rewards, changing the console’s dashboard setting may not affect it. Use the app-specific instructions below instead.

Windows lets you control notifications per app. You can block every notification from a sender or keep notifications enabled while hiding only banners, notification-center entries, or sounds.
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select System, then Notifications.
- Under notifications from apps and other senders, locate Xbox, Xbox Game Bar, or the sender name shown on the streak alert.
- Open that sender’s notification settings.
- For complete suppression, switch notifications off.
- For a quieter option, leave notifications on and turn off one or more of Show notification banners, Show notifications in notification center, and Play a sound.
Use the sender switch when you do not want the reminder delivered at all. Use the individual controls when you still want other Xbox messages available in the notification center or as silent alerts.

Choose the right Windows scope

Microsoft Support describes the general control this way: “Turn notifications on or off: disable notifications for specific apps if you no longer want to receive them.” The exact arrangement of switches can differ between Windows 10 and Windows 11, but the per-sender principle is the same.
Stop an Xbox Game Bar streak pop-up
Game Bar has a placement control that is separate from Windows’ notification on/off switch. Changing placement determines where an alert appears; it does not necessarily suppress the alert itself.
- Press Win+G to open Xbox Game Bar.
- Open the Settings widget.
- Choose More settings > General.
- Adjust the notification-placement option if you only want the message displayed in a different location.
- For full suppression, return to Start > Settings > System > Notifications and disable notifications for Xbox Game Bar or adjust its banner, notification-center, and sound switches.
This two-part approach matters when a user changes Game Bar placement and expects the streak reminder to disappear. Placement changes presentation; the Windows sender control governs whether Windows delivers the notification.
Check the Xbox app or Microsoft Rewards settings
A streak reminder may originate in the Xbox app or Microsoft Rewards rather than in the console shell or Windows notification service. Open the app that appears as the sender, then look for its account, notification, Rewards, streak, or reminder settings. If your version exposes a matching switch, turn it off there.

There is no stable, universal Microsoft page listing one dedicated streak-notification toggle for every Xbox app build and region. Labels and availability can therefore differ. Do not look for a control that your app does not show, and do not assume that a console setting will override an app-generated reminder.
Xbox app on Windows
First check the app’s own settings for Rewards or reminder controls. Then check the Windows sender list. If the app’s internal setting is unavailable, Windows can still suppress the app’s alerts or limit them to silent, non-banner notifications.

Open the Xbox app and inspect its account or notification settings for Rewards, streak, or reminder controls. If the app offers no matching option, use Android’s notification controls for the Xbox app and disable its notifications or the relevant category. Android labels and category names vary by device maker and operating-system version.
Xbox app on iPhone
Check the Xbox app’s own notification settings first. If there is no streak-specific control, use the iPhone’s notification settings for the Xbox app and turn off the app’s alerts, banners, sounds, or lock-screen presentation as needed. The available controls depend on the iOS version and the app’s current notification channels.
Will disabling the alert erase or reset your streak?
Suppressing a notification channel is not the same as deleting Rewards activity. The setting controls how a reminder is delivered; it does not, by itself, claim to remove the underlying account activity or reset a streak. Continue completing whatever activity maintains your streak if you want the streak to continue, even though its reminder is hidden.
Because reminders can come from different services, turning off one channel does not guarantee that another service will remain silent. For example, disabling a console category will not necessarily stop an Xbox app alert, and disabling Game Bar placement will not necessarily block Windows delivery.

Why reminders can continue after you turn notifications off
The wrong sender was disabled
Read the sender name on the next alert. If it says Xbox Game Bar, Xbox, Microsoft Rewards, or another app, change that sender’s settings rather than the category you originally modified.
Only presentation was changed
Game Bar placement affects where a message appears. It is not the same as switching off Windows notifications. Use the Windows sender switch for complete suppression.
A broader category still allows the reminder
Some dashboards do not provide a “streak” label. A reminder can remain enabled under an app, Rewards, or general notification category. Reopen the console notification page and inspect the broader categories available on your build.
The app has its own notification channel
An app-generated reminder can bypass a console-shell preference. Open the app’s account or notification settings, then check the operating system’s per-app controls as a second layer.

Your version or region exposes different labels
Xbox dashboards and app builds do not all present identical categories. A control documented for one version may be absent from another. Use the sender shown on your device and select the closest matching category rather than relying on an exact label from another build.

Mute only the parts of the alert you dislike
You do not have to block every Xbox notification. Windows can separate visual banners, Notification Center entries, and sounds. That lets you keep important account or social messages while removing the most intrusive part of a streak reminder.
- Choose Play a sound off when the alert’s audio is the problem.
- Choose Show notification banners off when pop-ups interrupt games or other work.
- Choose Show notifications in notification center off when you do not want reminders waiting for later review.
- Turn the sender off entirely when no form of that reminder is useful.
On a console or mobile app, the available controls may be less granular. If a dedicated streak switch is missing, use the broadest category that clearly corresponds to the sender, while recognizing that it may affect other messages from the same source.
How to verify that the change worked
- Record which sender you changed and whether you disabled all notifications, banners, notification-center entries, sounds, or only an app-level reminder.
- Close and reopen the Xbox app or restart the console if the settings page does not immediately reflect the change.
- Trigger or wait for the next normal reminder period rather than assuming that an already queued notification will vanish.
- If a new alert appears, read its sender and repeat the process for that source.
- Check that the streak itself remains visible in the relevant Xbox or Rewards account area if you are concerned about account activity. Hiding notifications should not be described as deleting or resetting that activity.
Restore Xbox streak notifications later
To re-enable the reminders, return to the same sender’s settings and switch notifications, banners, sounds, or the app-level Rewards/reminder control back on. On Xbox, use Profile & system > Settings > Preferences > Notifications. On Windows, use the sender entry under Settings > System > Notifications. For Game Bar, its placement setting can be changed independently from whether Windows permits the notification.
What to do when no matching control exists
If your console or app shows no streak, Rewards, or reminder category, do not invent a menu path based on another platform. Confirm the sender, apply the operating system’s per-app notification control where available, and recognize that the current build may not expose a dedicated toggle. The absence of a visible switch does not prove that the streak is disabled; it only means that this version does not provide a separately documented control.
