To silence everything, open the gear-shaped Settings menu, switch off Audio > Voice Chat, enable Keyboard and Controller > Communications > Hide Chat (or the equivalent Social or chat-channel control), and then review the separate Communications, Ping, or Battle Communication options.
A voice mute does not hide typed messages, and hiding text does not necessarily remove ping sounds or markers. Menu names can move between PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and game builds, so use the equivalent channel-specific label when your version is arranged differently.

How Marvel Rivals’ communication controls are divided
The game has more than one way for players to communicate. Each setting changes a different signal path, which is why turning off one channel can leave another visible or audible.

The exact combination of switches is not universal across every platform or patch. If a heading is absent, look for the closest equivalent under Communications, Social, Chat, or Ping rather than assuming the feature has been removed.

Turn off voice chat
- From the main menu, or from the in-match menu, open the gear-shaped Settings.
- Select Audio.
- Find Voice Chat and switch it off.
- Leave the menu normally so the setting is applied. If your build presents an explicit confirmation, accept it.
- Test the result in the practice area or another low-stakes match. You should no longer hear the game’s voice-chat channel.
What this switch covers
The in-game voice setting controls spoken communication carried through Marvel Rivals’ voice-chat channel. It is the appropriate setting when you want to stop hearing teammates or other players without changing unrelated game audio.
Why a hardware mute is different
A headset mute button, microphone mute, or console party mute operates at the device or system level. It can stop your microphone from transmitting, or silence a party channel, but it is not a replacement for the in-game Voice Chat setting. A hardware mute also does not hide typed chat or remove ping indicators. For a complete in-game change, use the Audio control first and treat hardware or party controls as a separate fallback.
Restoring voice later
Return to Settings > Audio > Voice Chat and switch the control back on. Because this is a persistent settings change rather than a one-player mute, check it before a match if you want to hear team communication again.

Hide text chat and restrict unwanted channels
- Open the gear-shaped Settings menu.
- Open Keyboard and Controller, or the equivalent control page provided by your platform.
- Enter Communications.
- Enable Hide Chat if that label appears.
- If your version shows separate Social or chat-channel permissions, set the unwanted channels or recipients to the most restrictive option available.
- Exit the menu and verify the result in a practice area or low-stakes match.
What “Hide Chat” may mean in different builds
The label can refer primarily to hiding incoming text, while another build may also expose controls for outgoing messages or individual channels. Read the description shown beside the switch. If the page separates team, match, party, or social recipients, change each channel you do not want rather than assuming one switch covers them all.

Use Custom Muted Words when you want a narrower filter
Hiding all chat removes useful written information as well as abusive or distracting messages. Where Custom Muted Words is available, add the terms you do not want to see and leave the rest of chat enabled. Marvel Rivals’ official Season 3.5 notes describe the feature this way: “Players can now set up their own defenses against words they’d rather not see in chat. If a message contains a muted word, it will be filtered out.”
This is a selective text filter, not a voice or ping control. A muted word will not make spoken communication disappear, and it will not remove a ping that contains no text.
Disable or mute pings and battle communications
Pings are handled separately from both voice and typed chat. After changing those two channels, inspect the communication controls again:

- Look for Communications, Ping, or Battle Communication. The location and wording can vary by platform or build.
- Review every ping-related option exposed there, including notification, sound, quick-callout, or display controls.
- Disable or mute the options that match what you want to remove.
- Apply the change, leave the menu, and test it where a teammate can generate a signal or where you can observe the relevant notification.
There may not be one universal ping switch
The available evidence does not establish a single setting that removes every ping on every platform. One build may let you suppress ping audio while leaving an on-screen marker; another may expose display and sound options separately. Use the most restrictive combination your current menu offers if you want neither the sound nor the notification.

Keeping useful signals while reducing noise
If you still want objective or danger information, do not disable every battle-communication option automatically. First check whether your build separates ping sounds, visual indicators, and quick-callout categories. Muting only the intrusive part preserves whatever signals remain enabled.
PC, PlayStation, and Xbox: handling label differences
The channel model is the same, but the navigation label can differ. On PC, the researched path places text controls under Keyboard and Controller > Communications. On a console, the equivalent may be exposed under a controller, Social, Chat, or Communications page. The practical rule is to search the current settings for the channel name rather than relying on a particular tab title.
- PC: Start with Audio > Voice Chat, then check Keyboard and Controller > Communications for Hide Chat and the ping-related page.
- PlayStation: Use the in-game gear menu and look for the same Audio, Communications, Social, or Ping labels. The console’s party mute is separate from Marvel Rivals’ own voice channel.
- Xbox: Follow the in-game labels first. A system party setting can affect party audio, but it does not replace the game’s voice, text, or ping controls.
These platform notes describe where to look, not a guarantee that every edition exposes identical switches. Patches can rename or relocate controls, so an equivalent label in the current build takes precedence over an older menu path.

This approach is reversible: each setting can be restored individually. It also avoids losing useful callouts when only one channel is causing a problem.

Why pings can remain after chat is hidden
Hiding text affects the chat display or chat-channel permissions. Pings use a different communication path, so they can continue to produce an icon, sound, or quick callout. Likewise, turning off voice does not alter the ping system.
When a ping remains, identify which part is still present:
- On-screen marker remains: Look for a visual ping or notification setting.
- Sound remains: Look for a ping-volume, ping-sound, or battle-communication audio option.
- Short spoken or text-like callout remains: Check quick-callout or battle-communication controls rather than the ordinary chat toggle.
- Only a console party message remains: Check the platform party separately; the game setting cannot control an external party channel.
If none of those labels appears, your build may not provide a complete ping shutoff. Disable every exposed ping-related option, then use the in-game feedback or support route if a documented control appears to be missing after a patch.
How to verify the settings without risking a match
- Open the settings from the main menu whenever possible, so you can inspect every relevant section before queueing.
- Write down which channels you changed if you are experimenting with several combinations. This makes it easier to restore only the option you need.
- Use the practice area or a low-stakes match to check voice, text, and pings separately.
- Have a teammate send a typed message, speak through the game channel, and generate a ping when practical. Test one channel at a time so you know which setting worked.
- Reopen the settings after the test if a change did not persist. Confirm that you left the menu normally and that you changed the in-game setting rather than only a headset or console-party control.
Muting is not the same as reporting
Marvel Rivals’ official Text and Voice Chat Moderation Guidelines, dated October 10, 2026, describe a moderation system that combines automated detection, player reports, and manual review for text and voice communications. The guidelines say reports can be submitted during or immediately after a match, and that chat or voice bans can last up to 365 days.
Hiding chat or muting voice is a personal display or audio choice. It does not submit a report and does not address prohibited speech for other players. If a message or voice channel violates the game’s rules, use the reporting function during the match or immediately afterward in addition to changing your own settings.
Re-enable channels when you need team information
To restore communication, reverse only the controls you changed: turn Voice Chat back on under Audio, disable Hide Chat or loosen the selected Social or channel restrictions, and re-enable the required ping or battle-communication options. If you used Custom Muted Words, remove or edit individual terms instead of resetting every communication preference.
Check the settings before an important match. A prior session may have left one channel disabled while another remained active, especially after you changed a device mute or console-party setting and assumed it affected the game itself.
