To stop an iPhone selfie from being mirrored relative to the front-camera frame, open Settings > Camera and turn off Mirror Front Camera. Take a new selfie to check the result.
Why does my iPhone selfie look flipped?
The front-camera frame and the saved selfie can have different orientations. Apple’s iPhone User Guide describes Mirror Front Camera as the setting that makes a captured selfie match the view in the front-camera frame instead of being reversed.

With the setting off, the saved image has the opposite orientation relative to that frame. This setting is about the captured selfie; Apple’s instructions do not say that it changes the live preview.

How to turn off Mirror Front Camera
- Open Settings.
- Tap Camera.
- Turn off Mirror Front Camera.
- Take a new selfie in Photo or Portrait mode to check the saved image.
Which setting should I use?
- Mirror Front Camera on: the captured selfie matches what appears in the front-camera frame.
- Mirror Front Camera off: the captured selfie is reversed relative to that frame.
Choose the orientation you prefer; Apple does not identify one as universally correct. The cited guidance covers the iPhone Camera setting, not how third-party camera, video-call, or social-media apps handle selfies.
