How to Turn Off or Reduce Gore and Motion Effects in Resident Evil Requiem

Open Options/Settings → Accessibility, then set Camera Wobble to 0% (or the lowest value) and Motion Blur to Off or Low. A center-screen dot, an alternate first-person/third-person perspective, and slower character-camera controls can help if movement remains uncomfortable. The documented settings do not include a universal gore-off filter; PC graphics and frame-rate adjustments can make motion look steadier, but they do not remove blood or violent imagery.

Which settings change motion, and which change content?

Resident Evil Requiem separates comfort controls from content presentation. The Accessibility menu addresses camera movement, blur, visual flashes, subtitles, audio and physical-accessibility needs. The controls documented for Requiem reduce how the camera moves or how the image is rendered; they are not censorship controls.

Control What it changes Image or performance effect First- and third-person views
Camera Wobble Reduces or removes the camera’s wobble effect. At 0%, the accessibility guide says wobble is removed while gameplay impact is preserved. Removes a movement cue; it does not remove enemies, attacks or blood. Use it regardless of perspective; exact behavior can vary with the selected view.
Motion Blur Turns blur caused by camera or character movement off or down to the lowest available level. A sharper moving image; it is not a gore filter. Useful in either view, subject to the platform’s implementation.
Center-screen dot Adds a fixed visual reference at the center of the display. Places a small marker over the game image; it does not alter violence. Most useful when the camera is moving in either view.
Perspective choice Lets you test the available first-person or third-person presentation when the menu exposes that option. Changes where motion is perceived, not the game’s content rating. Directly changes the active view.
Character camera speed or acceleration Slows or smooths turning when those controls are available for the selected character. Can reduce rapid visual sweeps; lower speeds may make turning feel less immediate. May be character-specific and may not affect every camera state.
PC quality and frame-rate settings Reduces demanding graphics settings and limits frame rate from the Graphics menu. A steadier frame rate can reduce perceived judder, but lower quality can reduce detail. Applies to the PC rendering path rather than removing content.

Menu wording can differ between PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam and Epic releases, and patches can move an option. If a label is slightly different, look for the same function under Accessibility or the motion-sickness subsection.

Step-by-step: turn off camera wobble and motion blur

  1. Pause or return to the main menu. You can change these options before loading a save or while paused, depending on the platform.
  2. Open Options or Settings. The top-level label is platform-dependent.
  3. Select Accessibility. Do not use the Graphics menu for the basic motion controls; graphics contains the separate PC performance settings described below.
  4. Open the motion-sickness controls. This subsection contains the camera and blur options in the documented accessibility layout.
  5. Set Camera Wobble to 0%. If your version uses a shorter scale or an Off toggle, choose the minimum available value. The accessibility guide describes 0% as removing the wobble while retaining the underlying gameplay impact.
  6. Set Motion Blur to Off or Low. Choose Off for the clearest moving image. If Off is unavailable, select the lowest value.
  7. Enable the center-screen dot if a fixed reference helps. Some players find a stationary point easier to track than a moving environment. Turn it back off if the marker itself is distracting.
  8. Apply or confirm the changes, then test a short section. Walk, turn, aim and watch a combat or traversal sequence before deciding whether more changes are needed.

These adjustments change camera presentation, not enemy behavior, combat timing or the amount of violent material in scenes. If symptoms continue, keep the wobble and blur reductions in place and continue with the perspective and camera-speed checks below.

What Camera Wobble at 0% actually does

Camera Wobble is the direct answer to requests to disable camera shake or wobble. Moving it to 0% removes the documented wobble effect while preserving gameplay impact. That means attacks, damage feedback and environmental movement still occur; the option removes the camera’s extra oscillation rather than making encounters less intense.

If your menu offers a percentage slider, use 0 rather than assuming a middle setting is equivalent to Off. If it offers only descriptive choices, select the setting that indicates no wobble or the minimum amount. Take a few turns and aim movements after changing it, because a patch or platform build can expose a different label.

How to turn off Motion Blur

Motion Blur softens moving frames to create a cinematic look. For players who experience discomfort or find moving scenes hard to track, set it to Off. When the build provides only levels, choose Low. This can make edges look clearer during a quick turn, but it does not stop the camera from rotating and does not hide blood, body parts or violent cutscenes.

Blur and wobble are independent. Turning off blur will not remove wobble, and setting wobble to 0% will not necessarily make a moving image sharp. Change both controls, then test the same movement in a consistent area so you can tell which adjustment helped.

Use the center-screen dot as a visual anchor

The center-screen dot provides a fixed point against which the rest of the scene moves. It is optional and cosmetic: it neither changes the reticle behavior described by a weapon nor edits story scenes. Enable it from the same motion-sickness controls and leave it on for a short test. Players who lose their sense of orientation during rapid turns may find the anchor useful; others may find a permanent mark visually intrusive.

Try a different perspective and slower camera controls

Requiem’s documented accessibility guidance allows players to test the available first-person/third-person perspective choice. A different perspective can change how much of the screen moves during a turn and how close the camera feels to the character. It does not reduce gore, alter the official rating or guarantee that every sequence uses the selected view. Use the perspective option only if your platform and current software version expose it.

Also look for character-specific camera speed or acceleration controls. Lower speed makes a stick or mouse movement produce a slower turn; lower acceleration can make the start and stop of a turn less abrupt. These controls may be shown only for particular characters or camera modes. Change one value at a time, then test walking, aiming and a full turn. If turning becomes too slow for combat, raise it slightly while keeping Camera Wobble at 0% and Motion Blur Off.

Can you disable gore in Resident Evil Requiem?

The standard accessibility listings reviewed for Requiem do not show a universal Gore: Off switch. They document motion, flashing-light, subtitle, visual, audio and physical-accessibility controls, but not a general filter that removes blood or dismemberment. The practical conclusion is that you can reduce motion effects, but you should not expect the documented settings to censor violent imagery.

The Entertainment Software Rating Board describes Requiem as containing dismemberment, decapitation, large blood stains, body parts, exposed entrails and graphic violent cutscenes. The game is officially rated for Blood and Gore and Intense Violence. Motion settings therefore should not be advertised as a way to make the game gore-free: they change camera behavior or image clarity while the rated content remains part of the presentation.

Regional releases can apply their own content changes. A setting or scene behavior observed in one region should not be generalized to every platform or territory. Check the rating information and the exact edition sold in your region if content restrictions are a deciding factor.

Reduce visual judder on PC

If the problem feels like uneven frame delivery rather than camera motion, use the PC graphics controls:

  1. Open Options → Graphics → Image → Quality Settings.
  2. Lower demanding quality settings incrementally rather than changing everything at once.
  3. Use the frame-rate limit option when available to keep delivery consistent with your hardware and display.
  4. Return to the same scene and check whether camera movement now looks steady.

Capcom’s PC troubleshooting guidance recommends lowering settings from this Graphics path and limiting frame rate when performance is unstable. A steadier frame rate can reduce perceived judder, but it cannot remove blood, gore or violent cutscenes. Lowering quality can also reduce image detail, so stop at the lowest change that produces stable motion.

  • Reawaken a Classic – Resident Evil 4 preserves the essence of the original game, now reconstructed using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine to deliver realistic visuals and additional narrative depth to the iconic story that was not possible at the time of the original release.
  • Modernized Gameplay – The team from 2019’s Resident Evil 2 returns to build upon the series’ modern approach to survival horror. • Overwhelming Hordes – Face hordes of rabid enemies that threaten to overwhelm Leon with even more diverse methods of attack than in the original release.
  • Survive on a Knife’s Edge – Years of intense training have taught Leon new ways to use his knife, helping to even the odds against the unrelenting onslaught of enemies. By parrying enemy attacks, you can avoid debilitating damage and evade lunging enemies seeking to grab Leon and hold him in place. Make smart use of scavenged knives to deliver precise finishing moves on vulnerable enemies, and even use the element of surprise to quietly dispatch unsuspecting foes before they break.

Advanced config.ini editing

Capcom also documents a PC config.ini location for graphics settings. Editing that file is an advanced, version-sensitive workaround, not a required step for motion comfort. Before changing it, close the game and keep a backup copy. A patch can overwrite values or change the file structure, so use the in-game Graphics menu first and treat manual edits as a recovery option only when the menu cannot hold a stable configuration.

Recommended combinations for common situations

Situation Accessibility starting point What to evaluate
Camera movement causes nausea Camera Wobble 0%; Motion Blur Off; center-screen dot On; test the alternate perspective; lower camera speed or acceleration where available. Whether turning, aiming and traversal remain comfortable during a short session.
Moving images look smeared Motion Blur Off or Low; keep Wobble at the lowest comfortable value. Clarity during quick turns and whether the sharper image itself becomes distracting.
Only unstable performance feels uncomfortable Keep the accessibility reductions, then lower PC Quality Settings and apply a frame-rate limit. Frame pacing in the same area, not just the average frame rate.
Violent imagery is the concern Motion controls can still be used for comfort, but do not expect them to remove gore. Whether the regional edition’s rating and content are acceptable before playing.
First-person view feels too intense Test the available third-person perspective, then retune character camera speed. How close the camera feels and whether the alternate view is used consistently in your version.

Troubleshooting when the change does not seem to work

The camera still shakes after setting 0%

Confirm that you changed Camera Wobble, not a separate camera-speed or acceleration value. Check whether the effect you notice is an attack animation, recoil, scripted cutscene movement or performance judder rather than the wobble option. Reopen Accessibility after loading the game to verify that the value persisted, especially after a patch or profile change.

Motion Blur is missing

Look under Accessibility’s motion-sickness controls rather than only under Graphics. Platform builds can use different labels, and a patch can relocate an option. If no blur control appears, lower other motion-related effects that your version exposes and test the alternate perspective.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The game feels jerky after blur is disabled

Disabling blur reveals individual frame changes more clearly; it does not create new frames. On PC, open the Graphics path, reduce Quality Settings and limit frame rate. If the frame rate is already stable, restore the last quality change that reduced image quality and keep blur Off only if the clearer image remains comfortable.

The center dot makes aiming harder

Settings changed after an update

Recheck Accessibility and Graphics after every major patch. Capcom lists PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam and Epic versions, and labels or available controls can differ among those releases. Use the current menu on your platform rather than relying on an older screenshot or controller instruction.

Platform and edition considerations

Capcom lists Requiem for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam and Epic. The platform documentation also distinguishes features such as resolution, HDR, ray tracing, audio and controller support. Those differences can affect where a setting appears and how motion feels, even when the accessibility goal is the same.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Use the button prompts shown by your own console or PC build. If a guide says to select an option with a particular controller button, treat that as platform-specific; the reliable part is the menu path and the function of the setting. Recheck the values after installing a patch, changing profiles or switching editions.

What these controls cannot do

  • They do not remove dismemberment, decapitation, blood stains, body parts, exposed entrails or graphic violent cutscenes described by the ESRB rating.
  • They do not change the game’s Blood and Gore or Intense Violence classification.
  • They do not guarantee that every cinematic, scripted event or camera transition uses the same perspective.
  • They do not fix all judder caused by insufficient PC performance; use Graphics quality and frame-rate controls for that case.
  • They do not make one region’s content behavior universal across other editions.

For motion discomfort, begin with Camera Wobble at 0% and Motion Blur Off, then add a center-screen dot, test the available perspective and slow camera controls. For unstable PC rendering, adjust Quality Settings and frame-rate limits. For gore, the documented standard settings provide no universal off switch, so review the rating and regional edition before deciding whether the game is suitable.
