To stop promotional videos from starting automatically on Microsoft Store product pages, open Microsoft Store > Profile > Store settings and switch Video autoplay off. The Store provides a setting to turn autoplay on or off, but Microsoft does not document it as a permanent, update-proof lock.
Turn off video autoplay in Microsoft Store
- Open the Microsoft Store app.
- Select the Profile button, shown as the account icon.
- Choose Store settings.
- Find Video autoplay and switch it Off.
- Open a product page and check whether its video stays stopped. This is a practical check; the cited sources document the setting but do not report an independent test of its behavior.
Microsoft’s Store team confirmed on October 16, 2024, that Store settings include an option to toggle video autoplay. The announcement described videos such as app and game trailers on product pages. The click path above is documented in a tutorial updated December 20, 2025. Microsoft’s announcement · Tutorial with the navigation steps

What this setting controls
Video autoplay applies to promotional videos on Microsoft Store listings, such as trailers that may play while browsing or viewing a product page. It does not turn off video playback across Windows or within apps you download from the Store.
Does “permanently” mean it can never turn back on?
No such guarantee is documented. The available sources confirm a user-facing switch, not that the preference is preserved through every Store update, account change, or move to another device. If listing videos start playing again, revisit Microsoft Store > Profile > Store settings and check Video autoplay.
