Cloudinary’s documented PDF features do not directly render an arbitrary webpage’s HTML into a PDF. To make a PDF of a webpage, first use a browser or another HTML-rendering system to capture it; then, if useful, use Cloudinary to store or deliver that PDF, or assemble a PDF from page images. Cloudinary’s documented image-to-PDF workflow starts with images, not a live webpage.
What Cloudinary can—and cannot—do with a webpage
Cloudinary documents workflows for creating a PDF from one or more images, converting an Office document with its Aspose add-on, uploading and delivering an existing PDF, and fetching remote media such as a page of a PDF for image transformation. Those workflows do not establish a direct operation that renders arbitrary webpage HTML into a PDF. Cloudinary’s image transformation documentation and PDF-from-images instructions describe the supported conversion paths.

For a webpage PDF, divide the work into two parts: render the webpage with a browser or other HTML renderer, then send the resulting PDF to Cloudinary for storage or delivery. Alternatively, capture pages as images and use Cloudinary’s image-based PDF workflow. This is an architectural approach based on Cloudinary’s documented inputs, not a Cloudinary-prescribed or tested integration.

Use a browser’s print-to-PDF feature or another HTML-rendering system to produce the PDF. Check the output before uploading: page breaks, backgrounds, font loading, interactive content, and lazy-loaded images can affect what is captured. Cloudinary does not perform this webpage-rendering step in the documented PDF workflows.

- Open the target page in a browser and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Use the browser’s print dialog and choose its PDF destination or “Save as PDF” option. Review page size, margins, scale, and background graphics where available.
- Inspect the saved PDF for missing content, awkward page breaks, or clipped sections.
- Upload the resulting PDF to Cloudinary and use its delivery URL to serve the existing PDF. Cloudinary’s documentation also describes delivering selected PDF pages as images: PDF file delivery and transformations.
This route preserves a browser-rendered page as PDF pages. Cloudinary’s role is downstream storage, delivery, or supported transformations—not rendering the original HTML.
Option 2: Assemble a PDF from webpage screenshots
If you already have screenshots of the webpage, Cloudinary can create a PDF from image assets. Its documentation states, “You can create a PDF file from images stored in your Cloudinary storage.” Each source image becomes one page in the resulting PDF. For multiple images, Cloudinary orders pages alphabetically by public ID, so use sortable IDs if the page sequence matters. The documented multi-image limits are 100 images for synchronous processing and 500 for asynchronous processing; Cloudinary’s documentation page was last updated June 3, 2026. Cloudinary documents setting the format to PDF for the multi-image Upload API method and using the same tag to select the images. The exact API configuration depends on the upload method and account setup; consult the linked documentation for the current parameters rather than treating a delivery URL as a webpage-capture command.

- One image: Cloudinary can deliver a PDF generated from a single image by changing the delivery URL extension or setting the format to PDF, with image transformations optional.
- Several images: Use the Upload API
multimethod, tag the intended images alike, and set the output format to PDF. Public-ID alphabetical order determines the page sequence. - Large output: The multi-image PDF can fail if it exceeds the plan’s maximum file size. Cloudinary suggests reducing input image size with transformations.
Other Cloudinary PDF workflows are different
Convert an Office document
Cloudinary documents conversion of an Office document uploaded as a raw file by setting raw_convert to aspose, after registering for the Aspose document-conversion add-on. Processing is asynchronous. Cloudinary says the resulting PDF is added as an image resource while the original remains uploaded as a raw resource. This converts an Office file; it is not a webpage-rendering method. Fetch a remote PDF page for an image preview
Cloudinary Fetch can retrieve remote media for transformation and delivery. Its documented PDF example converts a selected page of a remote PDF into a cropped image thumbnail. That creates a PDF-page preview as an image; it does not turn a remote HTML webpage into a PDF. Fetched assets are cached, and a change at the source does not automatically refresh the fetched copy. PDF delivery is blocked on a Free account
Cloudinary says PDF delivery is blocked by default on Free accounts for security reasons. If an otherwise valid delivery URL does not serve the PDF, check whether PDF and ZIP delivery is enabled in the Console Security settings. See Cloudinary’s PDF delivery documentation.
The multi-image PDF has the wrong page order
Pages are ordered alphabetically by public ID, not necessarily by upload time or tag order. Rename or assign sortable public IDs that encode the intended sequence before generating the PDF.

The multi-image conversion fails or the PDF is too large
Check the synchronous or asynchronous image-count limit for the selected method, and check whether the output exceeds your plan’s maximum file size. Reduce source image dimensions or quality with transformations if size is the problem.
A fetched image still shows old content
Cloudinary caches fetched remote assets, so a change to the source does not necessarily appear immediately in the delivered copy. Follow Cloudinary’s documented refresh behavior and account-plan checks rather than assuming each request fetches a fresh source.
The webpage layout is missing from the PDF
Cloudinary’s image-to-PDF, Office-conversion, and remote-PDF-preview workflows are not HTML page rendering. Generate the webpage PDF with a browser or HTML renderer first, then upload the finished PDF; if you only have screenshots, assemble those images into a PDF.
