Torque for overall force and Force Feedback Sensitivity for how steering-force changes feel. There is no authoritative setting pair that suits every wheel: start moderately, test one setting at a time, and lower the values if the wheel vibrates violently or becomes uncomfortable.
What the two force-feedback settings do
GT7 exposes Force Feedback Max. Torque and Force Feedback Sensitivity in Controller Settings > Steering Force Feedback. Polyphony Digital warns that very high values can cause violent vibration on certain wheels. In practical tuning, treat Max. Torque as the control for overall force strength, and Sensitivity as the control to explore how changes in steering force come through. Those are useful ways to approach the controls, not quoted technical definitions from the game maker.

The game describes force feedback as conveying road-surface information through the tires to the driver. The GT7 manual gives that general description; it does not establish a single ideal setting for every wheel, car, or driver.

- Check recognition and updates. Confirm GT7 recognizes the wheel, then check for current game and wheel-firmware updates. Wheel-related behavior can change between game updates.
- Record your current values. Open Controller Settings > Steering Force Feedback and note both settings so you can restore them.
- Choose a familiar test. Use a car and track you know, and compare the same corner or surface on each run. Begin with moderate values; this is a cautious method, not an official numeric preset.
- Change only one control at a time. If the overall force is too strong or weak, adjust Max. Torque. If the force changes feel too abrupt or too muted, experiment with Sensitivity separately.
- Drive a short repeatable run. Compare the wheel feel at the same point rather than changing car, track, and settings together.
- Stop and reduce the settings if feedback turns harsh. Lower the values if the wheel vibrates violently, becomes uncomfortable, or drowns out useful steering information. Polyphony Digital’s Update 1.15 notice specifically says of violent vibration at very high torque or sensitivity: “If this happens, please set a lower value.”
Why a universal “best” setting is misleading
Wheel hardware and personal preference differ, and Polyphony Digital has made adjustments for particular models. In its Update 1.15 notice, the studio documented force-feedback adjustments for the Thrustmaster T-GT, Fanatec Podium, and Fanatec GT DD Pro, alongside the warning about very high settings. A separate May 2022 force-feedback notice described excessive vibration in certain wheel-and-car combinations and temporary reductions to force-feedback intensity and torque on those same named wheel lines. That notice is dated history, not proof that the temporary changes describe current behavior.

For these reasons, a setting pair shared by another player is best treated as a starting point for that person’s wheel and preferences—not a standard to copy blindly. The official notices establish neither a universal numeric baseline nor a measured performance improvement from any setting.
G923 owners: TRUEFORCE and calibration
For the Logitech G923 specifically, GT7 routes engine and wheel-slip vibration effects through Logitech TRUEFORCE. Do not assume those TRUEFORCE effects apply to other wheel models. Polyphony Digital’s G923 compatibility notice also points to wheel-input checks and pedal-sensitivity calibration under Options > Controllers > Steering Controller Settings. Use those checks if inputs do not register as expected or pedal response needs calibration.

Recheck after game or firmware updates
GT7’s wheel support has changed over time. An official search result for late-2025 Update 1.65 reports simulated friction for select force-feedback wheels, FullForce effects for the Fanatec GT DD Extreme, and a reminder to update wheel firmware. The Update 1.65 details should be consulted alongside your wheel maker’s firmware information; the available notice does not establish broader model compatibility details. If the wheel feels different after an update, recheck the two in-game values and verify firmware before rebuilding your settings from scratch.
