The steps below use Ray-Ban Meta as a specific example; pairing modes, charging hardware, and button sequences vary by brand and model, so follow your manufacturer’s instructions for other glasses.
If your smart glasses won’t connect or pair
- Check power and Bluetooth. Switch on the glasses, make sure they have charge, and enable Bluetooth on your phone.
- Enter pairing mode for your exact model. Ray-Ban Meta’s support instructions describe using the case button to enter pairing mode, and setup instructions also document a frame-button method. Follow the procedure for your model and app version in the Ray-Ban Meta FAQs (UK).
- Refresh the connection. If the glasses do not appear in the app, turn them off and on, close and reopen the app, then remove any stale Bluetooth pairing from the phone and pair again.
- Reduce Bluetooth interference. If an active connection fails, bring the phone closer, keep it in front of you or in a front pocket, and temporarily disconnect other Bluetooth devices.
On Ray-Ban Meta, an app connection failure does not necessarily prevent camera use: Ray-Ban says photos and videos can still be captured while the glasses are disconnected from the companion app. Treat pairing and recording as separate symptoms.

If the glasses or charging case won’t charge
Check how the glasses sit in the case
For Ray-Ban Meta, place the glasses in the charging case with the nose bridge aligned on the case contacts. Ray-Ban says this is the only way to charge the glasses. Check for the case’s LED indication or a charging icon in the app, and remove any protective plastic covering the contacts on first use. See the Ray-Ban Meta FAQs (US).

If the case itself is not charging, try another USB-C cable, compatible adapter, and outlet. Use accessories compatible with your particular case; Ray-Ban’s guidance recommends trying a different cable or adapter, but does not establish one accessory as compatible with every brand or model.

Respond to a red case indicator
Ray-Ban identifies a solid or pulsing red case indicator as a possible charging error related to heat or detected liquid. Move hot devices to a cooler location. If the nose-bridge area or case is wet or dirty, undock the glasses and clean and dry the contact areas before docking them again. Do not charge while contacts are wet.
If these checks do not restore charging, use the manufacturer’s support or warranty process rather than continuing to troubleshoot with unverified accessories.

If recording won’t start
Check power and temperature-related limits
Make sure the glasses are switched on and charged. Some supported Ray-Ban Meta devices may block recording below a minimum battery level that varies with temperature, to reduce the risk of a brownout. Ray-Ban’s 2026 FAQ gives thresholds of 10% at 25°C and 15% at 20°C for the covered Supernova device family; the threshold is higher at lower temperatures. These figures are specific to those devices, not a general rule for smart glasses.
Restart before escalating
If the glasses have adequate charge but recording still fails, restart them and check the manufacturer’s app and device guidance. If the fault persists, contact support. The cited guidance does not make a factory reset a required first step.

When to contact the manufacturer
Contact the manufacturer if its model-specific pairing or charging steps fail, or if recording remains unavailable after checking power and restarting. For Ray-Ban Meta setup, the UK support FAQ advises opening a warranty claim through its portal if pairing to the app still fails. For other brands, use the relevant manufacturer’s official support or warranty route.
