For most people who keep apps, photos and some downloads on their tablet, 128GB is a sensible starting point. Choose 64GB if you mostly stream content and use a small app collection; consider more onboard storage if you regularly keep large games, offline video or creative files. This is practical buying guidance—not a storage recommendation issued by Lenovo.
Choose storage based on what you keep offline
The important question is how much content you expect to have on the tablet at the same time, especially when you are away from Wi-Fi. Streaming media, storing photos in the cloud and clearing downloads periodically can make a smaller capacity workable. More than 128GB: storage-heavy use
If your tablet will hold large games, a substantial offline video collection or bulky design and other creative files, prefer a higher onboard capacity when your chosen model offers one. Available capacities and storage technologies differ: for example, Lenovo’s Tab Plus Gen 2 PSREF lists 128GB UFS 3.1 onboard storage and a microSD slot. Onboard storage and microSD are not interchangeable
Onboard storage is built into the tablet; microSD is removable expansion, available only on compatible configurations. Lenovo lists microSD support up to 1TB for its Lenovo Tab, Tab K9 and Tab One examples, but the limit is model-specific. Compare the exact Lenovo configuration before buying
Storage can vary by model family, generation, region and SKU. Use Lenovo’s PSREF for the particular configuration rather than assuming that another tablet in the same family—or a similarly named model—has identical capacity or card support.
- Confirm onboard capacity: Check the exact SKU and regional specification for the built-in storage offered.
- Check the storage technology: Note the technology listed in the PSREF when comparing models; for example, the cited Tab Plus Gen 2 specification lists UFS 3.1.
- Verify microSD support: Confirm that the exact configuration has a card slot. For the Tab K9, check whether its WLAN or WWAN arrangement affects the slot.
- Check card limits: Look for the supported file system and maximum capacity; do not carry one model’s limit over to another.
- Match the numbers to your habits: Consider how many apps, photos, downloads and large files you want available offline.
