If Sky Q says “no satellite signal,” first check the exact message, then make sure the dish cables at the back of the box are secure and finger tight. If the message is “no signal” or “no input,” the issue may instead be the TV’s input path. If the cable check does not help, a dish or reception fault may need an engineer.
First, identify which signal is missing
Sky’s no-satellite-signal help page distinguishes a Sky Q satellite reception error from a TV message such as “no signal” or “no input,” and from a broken or distorted picture. Those messages do not all point to the same fault. Note the exact wording before changing cables or settings: a TV input message alone does not establish that the dish has lost reception.

Check the dish cables at the Sky Q box
If the box itself reports “no satellite signal,” check the existing dish lead connections at the back of the Sky Q box. Sky Community guidance says the connections should be finger tight.

- Locate the dish cable or cables connected at the back of the Sky Q box.
- Check that each connection is seated securely. If one is loose, tighten it gently by hand until finger tight.
- Turn the equipment back on and check whether the message has cleared.
Do not use tools to overtighten a connector, pull hard on the lead, open the box, climb onto a roof, or move the dish. This check is about securing the existing connection; it does not mean you need to buy a replacement cable.

Use the affected channels as a clue, not a diagnosis
If only some channels fail, that does not rule out a reception problem. A Sky Community Superuser—not a Sky employee—says dish misalignment may affect just one or two channels and may not be obvious by looking at the dish. A failing LNB is another possibility mentioned in that forum answer.
A loose cable can also be involved. In a 23 July 2025 Sky Community discussion, a viewer reported that only some channels were affected; the original poster later said the problem was resolved after correcting a loose coax cable at the Sky box. That is one user’s report, not proof that every partial-channel fault has the same cause.

When to contact Sky or your building manager
If securing the accessible box-end connection does not resolve a Sky Q satellite error, the cause may need inspection at the dish or related equipment. Use the Sky Q help hub for the current support route. Sky Community guidance recommends contacting Sky if the help route does not arrange an engineer booking.

Should you replace the satellite cable?
Only consider a replacement if the existing lead or connector is visibly damaged or cannot stay securely connected. The reported resolution above followed correction of a loose cable at the box, not a cable purchase. Before replacing a lead, check that its connector type and length match your setup.
Sky’s rendered help page identifies the relevant symptom categories but does not show detailed troubleshooting instructions. For that reason, this guide does not prescribe a reboot sequence, signal-strength or quality threshold, or a specific diagnostic-menu procedure. Follow Sky’s current support guidance for those steps if they are offered for your setup.
